Most days my job is rainbows and unicorns. Then there are days like tomorrow where I have to get up at 4 to hop a plane to Lubbock for two straight days of presentations and meetings. I'm going to be in a suit and tie before 5 am. I'm not sure that's even legal.
I am the keynote speaker for a sales conference with 90 attendees tomorrow at 1pm at the Domain. I am drinking with my cousin and watching the rockets game. I have not given a thought to my speech.Good luck to you tomorrow Bentley. Tpw.
We gonna bet on the Rockets/Blazers series? Maybe instead of money, something fun like an article of clothing, six-pack or a gallon of gas?
Sure thing. Let's say a six pack AND a local T-shirt that is SFW. :spitshake:

Why do so many facebook posts today have the letters "TBT" in them and what does that mean?
My mother (who sent her first text the other day btw) asked this same question. My sister in-law started to answer her but I interrupted and told her it was referencing the Cher song "Turn Back Time". She said "oh I liked that song, no wonder everyone puts that on old pictures". I tried to convince to comment on every "TBT picture she sees with "thanks for Cher-ing the picture" but my sister in-law spoke up and told her not to believe anything I say. I'm probably going to hell, but at least I'll get to hang out with most of the GMTANers there.

Trivia Master Tanner

So I took my MIL to a doctor's appointment today. The whole thing was nutty from the start because I had to drive her a half hour there, drop her off, turn around and drive a half hour back to pick my daughter up from school, and then immediately go back to pick up my MIL. Fun stuff.

So I get there to pick her up and she is pretty upset. Turns out that the doctor planned on doing a biopsy but didn't inform her of that ahead of time. For most people that wouldn't be a big deal, but my MIL has a lot of anxiety issues, distrust of doctors, etc. So she was not happy and told them that she didn't want it done today. They kept pressuring her but she kept refusing to give consent to do it. So eventually the doctor says she'll just do the examination and that's it.

Apparently during the examination then, the doctor goes ahead and does the biopsy on the sly and then sends her assistant in after the fact to try to get my MIL to sign off on it as having given her consent. So now my MIL is extremely upset. And while I think my MIL is a bit nutty for refusing to do it in the first place, I think she has every right to be furious. WTF is a doctor doing a procedure/test for when the patient very adamantly and specifically refused to have it done? And then tries to get the consent afterwards? What the heck?? They even tried tricking her by telling her it wasn't consent it was "just for the office's records" after the fact.

Am I wrong in telling my MIL that she should never go back to that doctor again and should file a complaint with the state Board of Medicine?

No. She should be happy her doctor is more concerned about her health than her irrational fears. Biopsy shouldn't be put off.

:goodposting:
Assuming this isn't fishing, really? A patient clearly has anxiety issues and is scheduled for a procedure without telling her. Upon notifying her of the procedure, she's upset and says no. They do it anyway THEN ask her to sign for approval. That's ####ed.

They weren't removing a kidney.

Ok, and? The procedure requires prior consent. They didn't have it. They did it anyway.

It was a non-invasive, no-risk procedure to identify what could potentially be a life threatening condition. I think they overstepped but I also think they did it because it was in the best interest of the patient and because it met those first two qualifiers so I don't think it's worth getting ruffled about.

anyone know of an empty warehouse in Washington?

Some people want to legally grow some weed. They have offered 20% of their profits in exchange for use of a warehouse. They'll set up all the stuff.
I might know a guy....
Warehouse needs to be in Washington. If this works out, I may need several.
Lemme make some calls...

No, they shouldn't. It's also not her doctor's job or right to determine when she doesn't have to consent to a medical procedure because it's for her own good.

What exactly did they biopsy? I'm suspecting it was something that was no big deal given that she didn't even know it had been done until they essentially told her so.

IT DOESN'T MATTER IF IT'S OBJECTIVELY NO BIG DEAL. Sorry, it just really bothers me when professionals like doctors think that the service they render is up to their discretion.
