GM's thread about nothing (38 Viewers)

Serious question: about a month ago the water pressure in my house decreased by about 70%. If someone flushes a toilet while the sink is on, the sink will stop completely. If the washing machine is on? Forget about getting water any other way. Our area is on water rations and in a severe drought. Would the utility folks scale back the pressure on their end? I haven't seen any pooling to indicate I have a leak anywhere.
How's your water usage according to your meter?

My water bill is about 80 during the winter and 150ish when I've got the sprinkler system turned on.

Thanks for the good thoughts, everyone. Knowing that Bob is willing to be there for the birth and Homer is willing to take over as manny/wet nurse afterwards has really helped set my mind at ease.
With Bob and Homer picking up the slack in those departments, I'd be happy to fill in on other roles Romo may be absent from in the interim...

such as winning poker tournaments and being unreasonably competitive and good at sports.

Brianstorm:

K4 comes to visit the YSR family two weeks before the birth is scheduled. Massive disaster causes Romo to be assigned to his own home town to adjust claims. Boom!

Right? YSR, you think you have problems.

I've never heard that Happy song by Pharrell.

Is this a good thing or a bad thing?
Weird. I just said to Mr. krista today that I suspected we were the only two people on Earth who couldn't recognize that song (assuming, correctly, that he couldn't either). Also I had to admit not knowing how to pronounce his name. FAIR-el or feh-REL?
I go with feh-REL, not because I know, but because there used to be a sports radio guy with that name.
Scotty! I actually hung out with him. OK, not him but his good buddy John Renshaw.
Ferrell used to broadcast from the bar i worked at. His voice/physical appearance are nothing like i expected. Tall, anorexically skinny, nerdy looking guy.

Here in the city we have pressure reduction valves installed at the curb that reduce the water pressure from the city line to the house. Ours went bad a couple years ago and we had problems very similar to what you're describing.

This place is opening a branch about 2 miles from my house and I'll have to walk past it twice every morning. That's not good.

Bob - please tell me how the smoked, fried artichokes are. What a great idea.

YSR... good luck- thoughts and stuff. I'm sure Homer will make a fantastic manny. And Bob a fantastic baby catcher.

Did you call the utility and ask? If they say they haven't rolled back - and I'm surprised they didn't announce if they did - something ungooderer is happening than rationing. I wouldn't mess around with this, BAbe. Water can #### #### up in a whole lot of ways if there's some kind of breach.

One of our neighbors said the same thing is happening to them.

"Abe, this is Agent Sacker with the Utilities Commission. Listen to me. We've traced the water... it's coming from inside the house. A truck's coming over there right now, but GET OUT OF THAT HOUSE!"

YSR, just saw your post from last night. Kills me that you guys are having to agonizing over this as you are both fine, fine people. My first GMTANner "meets" on Day Two of coshole.

I can't do much to help, I know, but I'll offer to pitch in to the Homermanny/SLBmidhusband fund.

Oh, I'm sure the utility company's shower doesn't cut off when Abraham flushes. That's a wasted call.

Also how drunk can you be when you show up to claim your rental car? Ibatb
This is why law school and the bar exam are worth it. When you rent using your ABA card, you could have syringe sticking out of your arm and be drooling and they'll hand you the keys.
wait, people actually pay for ABA memberships?
Just for the first year, so I could get an ABA credit card.
ABBA fans have their own credit cards?

Weird.

GB NB, heard the terrible news today. I hope you made the cut. :(
Wait, what?
Norville Barnes works for HP and they announced yesterday they are letting 45,000-50,000 people go. Freaking horrible.

Achilles (body part, not Greek guy) is still jacked up. So stupid.
Which leg? I have a left boot I could send you. See your doc, get some PT before you tear it, GB.
Yeah, I know, thanks GB. It's my right one of course.

I'm such and idiot too (news flash!) because it was really bothering me yesterday and I walked 8 miles thinking it would just work itself out.

Today's fukc cancer update

My sister just posted this about her daughter - many of you generously donated to a benefit for her a couple of years back, and I haven't provided a lot of updates since.

It is with a hevay heart and great sadness that I have to write this today. Over the last couple of months Brian, Lisa and I along with Cathy's doctor have had numerous discussions about if/when to stop Cathy's treatments. During this time we also read her living will and it was very clear she would not want to live this way. Still we were just not ready to let her go. In the past few weeks her quality of life has been declining and continues to do so. Which means the toll it is taking on Brian and the girls is increasing. This past week Brian, Lisa and I decided it was time. Time to stop the treatments. Time to let Cathy go. Even the doctor has no idea with stopping the treatments what comes next or how long we will have her so the future is very unclear. Hospice will be taking over now with her medical needs to keep her comfortable and anything else she needs. Will keep you posted as things change.

If you are having family get togethers this holiday weekend treasure every person there and let them know how special they are in your life because you just never know when it may be the last time you get this chance.

Oh, he's very much still around. I think he had to hit rehab pretty hard, but has resurfaced with a new show. His voice sounds much worse than before and before it sounded like sandpaper rubbing on bass strings.

Idiots.

Been doing what has turned into a massive project in the yard.

We have discovered that the best place for a table in the yard is not on the prefab concrete slab. Nah, it's off to the side in the grass. So the wife asked if I could put pavers down where the table should go, I said sure honey! Holy Jesus, it's been a lot of work. My arms are so ####### sore from excavating 50 square feet of lawn I could really use some norco, can anyone fax me some? And it's gonna look sweet! so sweet, that I think the whole side of the house should probably have the pavers.

Might need to seek your advice on a similar project we are investigating for our backyard.

Awful. Sorry man.

I did a big back yard paver project a few years ago. Despite painstakingly doing everything according to the book to keep grass from growing back underneath it, the grass started coming back almost immediately. The whole thing looked like dog#### after about six months. I paid a guy six grand last summer to pull the whole thing out and replace it with a stone patio. So, enjoy your new project!

My little tiny hedge fund that gets rejected more times than Homer's application to teach HS Volleyball had its very best day today. We were down 8% on the year coming into the month of May and are now up 5% YTD. Today was a good day. Think it's high time to check out early, meet up with some friends for afternoon beers and enjoy the 3 day weekend.
