Germany won the group.

USA and Portugal tied for 2nd but US advanced on goal differential tiebreakers because we lost to Germany 0-1 while they lost to Germany 0-4.

But we won by winning and tying and losing while our counterparts won and won and tied or won and tied and lost like we did but lost by more and didn't win by enough to win our tie with them.
