GM's thread about nothing (32 Viewers)

They built Terminal 4 to replace Terminal 1. So when they opened Terminal 4.... naturally they called it Terminal 4 and tore down Terminal 1.
I don't think this is correct.
Terminal 4 opened in 1990, which is when I went for my cousin's high school graduation. Everyone was very excited for the construction to be over.

Terminal 1 was torn down the next year.
Exactly. So for a period of time there were 4 terminals.

If you don't watch Sons of Anarchy, you should jump in because it's practically performance art at this point and the thread here is hilarious. It's going to be like a three month-long episode of MST3K.
I tapped out after last season. couldn't take it anymore.
We're so close to finishing it!

GPJ getting a little premature?

Random notes from my Cincinnati trip:

The Cincinnati airport is actually in Kentucky.

Guster is a phenomenal host and city ambassador. Can't say that enough. If you get the chance to take the "rooftop tour," do it. (I'm pretty sure he didn't even fingerbang my wife!)

The ballpark is awesome and we scored some great seats for two Cubs games. When you sit in the box seats they give a certificate if it's your first game at the GABP. Pretty cool. Unfortunately, both teams did not manage to lose.

Wednesday night after leaving Guster, I drank all of the bourbon in the city limits.

My brother and I ended the night at Madonna's, which evidently is a gay bar (who could have guessed?). Very nice gentlemen in there and very understanding when two drunken idiots walked out with their full drinks in hand.

After drinking all of the bourbon in Cincinnati, I spent the night on the hotel bathroom floor violently vomiting said bourbon back into the sewer system. JFC I felt like absolute death. Even Tuckers (where Guster assured me that I probably would not get shot) couldn't cut through the hangover. I couldn't stomach another drink for almost a whole day, it was so bad.

We did not eat Skyline. Sorry, GBGuster.
Skyline resembles diarrhea in smell and appearance. Solid move passing on it.

People from the midwest opinion on food is irrelevant and usually wrong.

Not long ago, worked with a guy born and bred from Tallahassee. When he first got up here he felt like you did and would never join us out for lunch if we went to Skyline that day. Scoffed at the idea. When I went on to another job a year later he was going out by himself to get for lunch nearly every day.

He weighed 350 lbs and died recently. Good guy, RIP.

Kind of irreverent on your part.

great foodie scene in Alabama, huh?
Solid BBQ

James Beard Awards like it

Plus fresh out of the gulf seafood.

But, I'll concede the fact we didn't invent frying chicken wings and drenching them with hot sauce.
you're claiming Alabama invented "solid BBQ"? or that they just perfected it into something that doesn't suck?

yeah, no James Beard awards in the midwest either. great call

not sure what Buffalo has to do with anything either. If you count New York State in the midwest, you need a new map.

Follow up. Are you inferring BBQ sucks?

While we are on travel talk, looking to do a long weekend getaway with the girl in mid-August.

Want to be able to leave Cincinnati in the evening on Thursday, Aug 14 and return on Sunday, Aug 17

Looking for a place to relax, sit on a beach and have some drinks without a care in the world.

Willing to drive up to 5 hours (Michigan, Lake Erie, lakes in KY or TN) or catch a plane

Any suggestions?

Lake Barkley, KY. 300 miles from Cincinnati.

Not so much a "beach" spot, but great for boating and fishing. And there are a few beaches, mostly accessibly by boat.

No. Big fan. We have that in the Midwest too actually. Do you only eat at James Beard winning establishments? Wonder if any Midwesterners vote on those.

Price? Flight distance?

It's really a shame GM wasn't at Beerhole. It would have been fun to hear Bill say, "...and one guy in the group looks like the love child of Casper the Ghost and The Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man. Yeah, take him a Strawberry Daquiri served in a waffle cone."
Words hurt.....friend?
They're Bill's words. Be mad at him.
I'M FLUCKING TAN NOW, JERKS!!!!!!!!11111111111
Actually, even if you had been there, I had a better landmark so all would've been good.

Price is generally flexible

As long as we can leave late afternoon/evening on Thursday, all other flight stuff is negotiable. Want to be able to have all day Friday and Saturday to enjoy

:lmao: I've gotta be with her a while longer before introducing her to any of you degenerates

Make her swoon as she dips her toes into the mighty Mississippi River from the muddy banks of East St. Louis. The mud makes it like a spa day, really.

Miami is likely cheapest and easiest in terms of flights, timing and proximity of airport to beach. For a bit more and a direct flight, you can get to San Diego.

For a willingness to leave a bit earlier in the day and travel further for more money Cancun and an AI 2 day stay beckons.
