Sounds like a pretty rad day Shuke.

I took the boys to swimming lessons, got drunk at the new house before lunch, had a burger, took a nap, ate a steak dinner, had a roll with the wife and got drunk again. Pretty good little day.

I am going through the process of emptying out the basement this year. I am guessing we'll be deducting a ####load come tax time. Taking photos for the rare chance of an audit.

It was Ben's birthday party today so went to the bowling/arcade place with a bunch of other kids and my family members mostly the ones I like. We ate pizza and drank beer. I won a basketball shooting contest. Then we came home and the kids played outside with Ben's new dinosaur toys while the wife and I watched a couple episodes of Walking Dead. Then I made steaks for me and the boy and chicken for the wife and the girl on the grill. Kids went to bed. Just got laid. Watching some cooking show and drinking bourbon. Didn't smoke nor want to. Pretty good day, really.

Good grief. You serious?
Completely. You don't document what you donate? You just put a total value in?
FWIW, you can deduct up to $500 without documenting

Big fan of this. Our church has a preschool and a food pantry. They all operate as separate entities on a single campus. We usually donate $400 or so worth of stuff to each without documenting.

Exactly. We donated about 1400 last year. This year will be 2-3x that.

The limit is $500 non-cash donations total for the calendar year.

Interesting. Our accountant may have gone to jail for financial crimes in the past. He works cheap, though.

Also Angrywife keeps a spreadsheet of everything we donate. Assume that's for this purpose.

And now Chasing Amy. Fantastic day.

K4 - absolutely get a new realtor. Our guy was very helpful with this stuff. And he wasn't high pressure at all. Great guy. I'm actually going to miss him.
Thanks, GB. I especially appreciate hearing of your recent experiences. Your guy work in Seattle?

Actually we're going to use the same guy we did for this house, who was recommended by 'ninja and is a great guy. I talked to him about it, because the houses we're looking at now are a bit of a slog from where he is and I wasn't sure he'd want to do that. Told him we'd already narrowed it down and done the grunt work, so I didn't need a lot from him but wondered if he could show additional houses if these didn't work out. He sent the ####### perfect reply, saying he insisted on seeing the ones we'd already narrowed it down to because his job was to notice things that weren't there on paper and to be full-service in advising us. Love that.

I haven't written an email to the other woman to tell her yet; it's really hard to do. Even though she was kind of bad as a realtor, she's a nice person. :(

Damn. I have been made fun of for documenting each item donated individually and doing an individual value for each, but I'd never considered taking a ####### picture. I'm so happy not to be the most anal* person, for the first time in my life.

*Softball right there for someone.

I know I'm probably cluttering this thread with this stuff, but wife is now asleep/passed out and I'm up watching a movie and in the past I would either be on my fourth cigarette since she fell asleep or if I didn't have any, like now, I'd drive the three blocks semi-drunk to buy some. Tonight I have no inclination to do either and it makes me very happy. Sorry. I know I'm probably annoying but I feel like I passed another milestone tonight.

You're making a great decision. I've never had a high opinion of the industry, but I've been completely pleasantly surprised by our experience. It probably helps that in our situation (like yours) he came highly recommended from a friend. He's been a very commonsense advisor for me and a therapist for my wife.

When you buy your inevitable place in Austin, be sure to call Blake Outlaw.

An old college friend came by tonight with his kids. He has a 8yo son and 7yo girl. They got along with the boys and they played all night. My GB doesn't drink anymore but we laughed our heads off for a solid three hours. I was expecting the neighbors to come out at any minute.

Dude, it's the farthest thing from annoying. I really admire your ability to do this. I'm so glad I've never even had a puff of a cigarette as I can't imagine how hard it would be to quit. You are doing great, and I'm proud of you!

Right, like I wouldn't; I might even call him for real estate, too.

Nah, one day you're going to see how gross and smelly and yucky and awful it is. It's not delicious; it's a habit. You'll wonder how you ever did it.

So tonight I'm at the karaoke gig that I really enjoy. Neighborhood bar type place, really cool mix of people, all of whom are very nice. Some dude just tipped me $20, and I haven't even started playing yet. All I had to do was promise to play some "old school." He's pretty hammered, but apparently he was on Soul Train. Twice.
You need to play "I Want You Back" by the Jackson Five and dedicate it to "Homer from the Internet."

No real reason, I just really like that song. And you can make it your first shot video. :banned:
Sorry, GB. One of the reasons I like that show so much is because it's generally pretty busy. Tonight I had singers non-stop from 9:30 to 1:30. I'll inevitably have a slow night, so when I do, I'll make this happen.

That's awesome buddy!!!

how are you determining value?

I used to play semi pro football...
Ever score four touchdowns in one game? :Bundy:

This is one of the worst homemade music videos I've ever seen (still not as bad as Jan Terry or course)

What's even better is the back story. They guy asked his wife to be in the video. She refused (smart move). So the guy hired a hooker to be in it. At least that's the story.
It's like Steven Segal meets a slightly slimmer Steven Segal with a guitar...and a dog.

Preparing for a small child's birthday party sure is fun
Oof. Each birthday party Angrywife had thrown for the boys had gotten more and more over the top. And they are always at our house. Because of the move, we have to outsource Yukes next party to a bouncy place. I'm pretty sure that she's convinced that this is going to cause permanent emotional scars for him.
