GM's thread about nothing (32 Viewers)

We've had a very quiet family Sunday. But we have a buddy coming over to help install a microwave and eat dinner. And drink this 18 pack of Lone Star I just bought. Should be a fun Sunday night.

Finished repainting the home office today. Just have touch up and base boards to go before we get it tiled in a couple of weeks. There is only one ceiling in the house that has the original paint and its days are numbered. Of course its the largest ceiling in any room in the house. Ugh.

This has been a great weekend. Thursday HattieLou turned 1 so we went out to eat. Friday a bunch of family showed up and I got drunk while watching basketball. Saturday we had a party and my crazy SIL couldn't make it so everyone had fun. And my Brother in Law brought his pit so we had brisket and sausage and ribs. Wings today, getting ready for better call Saul. Oh, and it was 75 and clear all weekend.

Going through my old DVD collection

At some point I thought buying Mission Impossible 3 was a good idea
Was never a big DVD purchaser. Maybe 50 over the years. I've always been more prone to watching a movie I stumble upon as opposed to 'hey! Let's pop this in and watch it'
i spent $50 at frys on $2 Japanese, Chinese and Korean bluray dvds this afternoon. :bag:

if your are tiling why do you have the baseboards on already ?

Carpet needs to come out and tile going down on slab rather than subfloor. Thinset will raise it to the level of the baseboards and no finishing strip. Just a quick paint of baseboards before tiles go in.

Happy birthday YSR and K4!

I spent 3 hours in federal prison today. Feel like I should be starting bar fights with broken pool cues tonight. #TeamDontPush

Happy birthday YRS and Kfore

so why not take the baseboard off and have the tile under the baseboard. Just curious

Happy Bday to both of you. I am curious as to what big daddy did for your birthday dinner. Don't know about Romo but I know Mr. Krista/manzee does up some fine ####e.

Pretty much a toss-up between federal "pound me in the ###" prison and having 5 kids.
This was more of a minimum security deal across the street from the pound me in the buttocks prison. In the room today was one person who was on CNBC's American Greed in addition to a former hedge fund manager who bilked his clients out of millions (I know him and said 'hey'), a mortgage guy who was THE guy in Bend for years before getting nailed for fraud as well as some former CPAs, lawyers and a guy who owned a vaccuum business in Portland and was on TV doing goofy local ads before getting arrested with over 200 stolen credit cards from his church. All there visiting with family and friends in green outfits, enjoying snacks and beverages from the vending machines (I was asked to bring $20 worth of quarters) and playing cards, Scrabble, etc.

Apparently this minimum security prison offers an intensive drug rehab program that if completed successfully can reduce sentences; thus lawyers for the rich try to get them into this federal prison to shave some time. Even if there weren't addicted to drugs, some of these guys will invent fabricated back stories to claim a habit and blame their sins on the dope. Felt like I should have been marketing to some of these cats.

Really strange experience. I think I'd take it over the 5 kids, TBH.

Kinda freakin me out. I think the main reason I haven't committed a felony is the fear of prison and prison butt rape. The idea of acceptance in this area of butt intrusion and trade offs just makes me wish i had never seen Oz.

Sounds like with the incentives, you'd be out of prison before the twins are out of the house.

This guy was sitting next to us today with his male lover. They stroked each other's arms and read from the bible. They also tore up some Nilla Wafers and a box of raisins, which I took to mean his male lover must be squirreling away some of the $50 Million, which has never been recovered.

GM> Why did you go there?
Oh, hello Shuke. One of my friends (assistant soccer coach, dad of Kellen's good buddy) is in there for wire fraud and bank fraud related to a mortgage company he ran in the 90's-2000's. Great guy who got nailed by the Feds for breaking the law. He should be out next spring. Never been to visit him or anybody locked up before. It was surreal. Glad I went, though. Meant a lot to him I think. All of his friends said they'd visit him and very few have followed through. Hell, it took me a year to get down there, but I went.

Good friend.

I visited people in Maximum security. It's not fun
We went there first on accident and though we were told by two large guards who looked angry at the world that we were in the wrong place and turned quickly around, I got a bad bad vibe in that joint. Mom with three young kids crying going through a metal detector at the time. Not Disneyland.

I for one am shocked that jail isn't a nice place to visit.
I think the place I went today was a much much MUCH better setup than what Belljr has seen. I wasn't expecting the Four Seasons, but it was still an eye opener.
Just messing with you GB. You're a good man for doing that.

Haven't ever told this one, even to my wife, but my brother was in the clink a while back. It was only a 30 day thing but my mom wouldn't even go. If only for the 20 minutes I was there, my brother felt like he was a "free man" if you will.

That kind of stuff means the world to them.

Back when I used to work at juvenile hall I'd start to get claustrophobic after a couple of hours. Not like the "trapped in an elevator" kind but "there are like 6 doors/gates between me and the parking lot. Any chance I could get I would get off of the grounds for a few minutes.
