Here's a golf ethical situation for you that just came up with me. Love to get some input:Was asked to play in a scramble this weekend with guys I don't normally play with. Some mild money to be won, but nothing crazy. It's a firefighter's tournament and the guys that asked me to play are all firefighters so it sounds like pure bragging rights. I agree to play and gave them my handicap. Find out later they have jacked it up four strokes. I assume maybe they just got it wrong and let them know. They tell me they changed it intentionally because everyone doctor's handicaps in this tournament. I tell them if anyone watches me play they'll get suspicious and that I thought we'd be competitive going in legit. They inform me that's fine and they'd take care of anything.

You're talking about a drunken cheatfest here. Play if you want to get drunk and swing as hard as you can. I'll venture a guess and say they won't vote you as the team's scorekeeper.

Fair enough. Been meaning to channel my inner-Rory.

And four strokes on a low handicapper is nothing in these things. It's the mid and high handicappers who do the most damage.

Wait, I missed that it was a scramble. So what, by virtue of the four strokes, you became a B player?

Anyone have a serious answer? I agree that neither of us handled the situation optimally; however, he was by far the bigger #######.

Also, he's a sandbagger. 1 over through 7 playing to a 15 and doing the same thing in his other matches.

The sand bagger is one of the worst things in golf.He acted like an ###.

He was also correct to give you a penalty.

What penalty? The hole was lost when Chet missed the putt.

Hold on the put was not conceded. And chet raked it cuz he thought he lost. The other player also thought he won the hole but never offered him the putt. Penalty was wrong term.

Chet surrendered the hole. And the was correct in pointing that out. But he's a sandbagger and I hate sandbaggers.

The hole was lost when he missed the par putt. He wasn't getting a stroke.
