Searched and didn't see a thread on this yet. The trailer looks awesome and the reviews I've seen are really good as well. I'm hoping to see it this weekend. Anyone seen it yet that wants to give a review without spoiling anything?

Rotten Tomatoes scores are currently 87% (critics) and 91% (general public).

A couple of us reviewed it here

The main thing is.. If you read the book, it follows it very well so the ending won't bother you as much as it does for the ones that have not read it.

Overall I enjoyed it quite a bit and, even if you haven't read the book, would recommend it.

I didn't read the book but I thought it was very predictable. Really well done performances though. Won't say anymore for now but the ending was off for me a little.

Overall worthwhile. I'd give it a B+

I thought the girlfriend was really hot.

I didn't believe the ending, especially that the roomful of cops weren't going to investigate what had happened top Doogie Howser more closely. As for hubby maybe it was believable if he was as sick as she was, maybe.

All I know about it is that a bunch of women are #####ing about the ending on Facebook.

.
I told my wife "hey that's the girl from the blurred lines video." She asked how many times I watched the video :bag: I replied "well she was also on iCarly". :bag: :bag: Not my finest exchange with the wife.

Never read the book. Thought the first hour of the film was great and the rest was an absolute train wreck that went on for way too long.

I watched this cuz of the great reviews. And while it's a "thinker" whodunit movie, it's not as clever or twisty as I'd hoped.

I was hoping for a Wild Things sort of twist ending with Nick and his sister plotting to use Amy to steal NPH's money. Then having Amy killed/disappear for real and the siblings taking off with :moneybag: to have their incestuous relationship.
I think my plot is better than what actually happened.

I thought the ending was perfect and fitting for the characters.

C'mon. There's only so many ways a story like this can go but I don't believe you knew for sure an hour what the ending would be.

Sure the characters deserve to be miserable together, but as a viewer I was a bit unsatisfied.

Same here.

Hour 1: Cool thriller with some good acting and nice story

Hour 2: Well... Ok not a big fan of the first "twist" but NPH is cool and maybe this thing will wrap up nicely.

Last 30 minutes: I've never gone about asking for a refund after seeing a movie - I wonder how one goes about doing that?

My wife read the book and absolutely loved it. While reading it she would give me updates on the twists. We went to see the movie and she loved it as well. She said it was very true to the book and she really enjoyed seeing how the audience reacted, especially to the ending.

A guy I know pimped this movie to me out of the blue....he's not normally the type to recommend movies. I'd like to give it a run soon.

I'm going to do this - if you hated the last 30 minutes then you didn't understand the movie.

How does one discuss movies like this without giving away spoilers?

I'd like to understand the ending and get insights into that, but is that impossible without passing secret notes in "Spoiler" boxes? Can we just discuss the movie?

I thought the movie was good, but I also thought the ending was kind of dumb too. Can you explain to me what I didn't understand?

Would suggest reading the book.. If for nothing else skip to the end where they delve further into his and her thinking..

In short ...they are both :loco: and deserve each other..

I haven't seen the movie yet, but read the book. My girlfriend and I were reading at the same time, but I finished a little ahead of her. I told her "I'm not going to give away the ending, but all I've got to say is '#### that ending!'"

With that said, I still liked it a lot, it just pissed me off at the end

Meh, the twists aren't well done, everything gets explained to you like you're furley and the plot holes with the police being idiots were too much to overcome.

Rent it

Didnt read the book....Saw the movie..

Wife hated the ending, thought it a waste of 2+ hours.

I was disappointed at first, but once I thought about it more, I understand the ending, but can also see the frustration and dislike.

This is essentially what I typed in the other thread, although I still thought the movie was worth the price of admission.

Ahh the standard reply for when someone doesn't like a movie that someone else does... "If you didn't like it, it's obvious that your feeble mind couldn't comprehend what happened." I got it - the heavy-handed commentary on media and marriage was beaten into your head constantly for the final 90 minutes of the movie. My issue is that it lies to the viewer and gets away with an implausible story disregarding many important details. I'm on mobile, I'll come back later with examples. Bottom line: I thought I was going to see Mystic River, instead I got a meandering sloppy story that's preachy.

I will say this - the movie actually was interesting and enjoyable and took chances, which very few movies do these days. You may not agree with the conclusions, the internal character motivations as they played out, plot or ending, but you have to applaud them for really trying.

In general, "twists" have been extremely overused in writing for a while now and, when carried over to a movie, almost always flops because the movie side has to balance that piece where they have to consider presenting this to an audience that has read the book and understands the layers of deeper reveals you get from the author but also the movie-goers who never read the book and have to experience everything visually only.

For me, it's almost always a let down because it is either so obvious what is coming or its spoon fed in a that moment where everything wraps up in a too convenient little package.

With that being said, the acting recovers a lot for this film because they are good enough to allow the development of the characters come out and you can enjoy it quite a bit. People who read the book will appreciate the actor's portrayal of what they have read and movie-goers will appreciate a good presentation.

But you won't walk out of there typing #mindblown on your Twitter.

Just saw this over the weekend and highly recommend it. Especially if you are / have been married.

Where did that woman who played Amy come from? Never saw her in anything before. She was fantastic, and deserves an Oscar nomination. Really love her voice, too.

She was in the Jack Reacher movie I'm pretty sure.

2+ hours of my life I can never get back

I found The Dark Knight boring. I don't remember thinking it was a bad movie. It just wasn't for me. NCFOM actually was terrible, as was Gone Girl. Besides, I'm not sure what those have to do with this movie. I'm not asking for anyone to listen to me. Just giving my opinion. It appears I'm not alone either.
