Round 14--MYST, PC ( Flex )

I have been wanting to take this for awhile now, have even considered it in the early rounds. This game was stunningly beautiful and addicting once you got past the lack of things trying to kill you.

I had a two hour delay today so I will be leaving for work soon. i doubt it makes it to me but if it does, give me a 15 minutes clock and skip me

But Im sure Ill be at work first

Ok, that's an hour:

15.09 Battlefield 2, First-Person Shooter, PC 2005

EA Dice reinvented the multiplayer first-person shooter genre with their debut hit. The sequel was even better. Having 64 players in a game at a time really keeps you on your toes and and action on your screen at all times. Battlefield 2 added new features such as squads, commanders, and team assets like the UAV, artillery drop, satellite scans.

We have an entire thread devoted to talking about this game and it's most recent installment that is ... pages long now. Go check it out if you're not familiar.

Note: I know there is a console game called Battlefield 2, but it is a completely different game than Battlefield 2 on PC, which I am taking here.

14.4 Myst, PC Action/Adventure

This game is just awesome, even if there is absolutely no action in it at all.

It is one of the first games ever released on CD, and is credited in part for the format's success. It was the best selling PC game of all time until "The Sims" was released in 2002 (it was released on Sept. 24, 1993. Meaning it was best selling for 10 years, even over a number of games that have already been drafted)...

I don't even know what else to say about the greatness of this game... It was that good. I remember playing it when I was a kid (I was 9 in 1993, it was probably 1994 when we got it) and I didn't have a clue what was going on, but could STILL play this game for hours it was so breathtaking, I just wanted to see what I would see in the next room (if I could ever figure out how to get there!!!)
Try again, Rikishi.

14.11 - Caesar 3 - Strategy/RTSDidn't realize it was back to me so fast.I'm not a big fan of the strategy games, but this one always amused me. Got pretty difficult at level 5ish though.
In my High School Latin class, we were required to play. It wasn't a serious grade and didn't need to prove we played. Teacher was a big geek. I got hooked. You certainly don't want to #### off the gods.

Good pick. Would have thought it would be NES, but you may have that filled already.

I'm sure it's in here somewhere already - but what's the definition of a "Fighter" game?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fighting_game
Fighting game is a video game genre where the player controls an on-screen character and engages in close combat with an opponent. These characters tend to be of equal power and fight matches consisting of several rounds, which take place in an arena. Players must master techniques such as blocking, counter-attacking, and chaining together sequences of attacks known as "combos". Since the early 1990s, most fighting games allow the player to execute special attacks by performing specific button combinations. The genre is related to but distinct from beat 'em ups, which involve large numbers of antagonists.
Pretty much sums it up.

Fighter usually is 1v1 or 2v2 or 3v3 in set rounds with a best of 3/5/7 to determine the winner. Beat em Up usually starts on the left and scrolls to the right as 1 or 2 people kick some ### through all the bad guys in route to the boss of every level.

OK, so pretty much the X men fits that At your leisure, please move X Men to Beat Em Up and Move Centipede to Arcade so I will have a Flex open

1 more. What is the difference between fighter and hack n slash/ beat em up
Hack and slash/beat em up involves repetitive fighting moves such as generic kick or generic punch/slash sword against multiple enemies on a screen. Usually involves numerous enemies that are on a lesser level then your own until you fight a boss enemy at the end of the level. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beat_%27em_up

Beat 'em up (also known as brawler) is a video game genre featuring melee combat between the protagonist and large numbers of antagonists. These games typically take place in urban settings and feature crime-fighting and revenge based plots, though some games may employ historical or fantasy themes. Traditional beat 'em ups take place in scrolling, two-dimensional (2D) levels, though some later games feature more open three-dimensional (3D) environments with yet larger numbers of enemies. These games are noted for their simple gameplay, a source of both critical acclaim and derision. Two-player cooperative gameplay and multiple player characters are also hallmarks of the genre.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hack_and_slash
Hack and slash or hack and slay, abbreviated H&S or HnS, refers to a type of gameplay that emphasizes combat. "Hack and slash" was originally used to describe an aspect of pen-and-paper role-playing games (RPGs), carrying over from there to MUDs, MMORPGs, and video games in general. In console video games, the usage specifically implies a focus on combat with hand-to-hand weapons. In other contexts it is more general, and an archer or unarmed martial artist may participate as fully in a hack and slash game, or be as hack-and-slash oriented as an individual, as an armed melee fighter.

I don't think it'd be a big deal, but just thought I'd ask...OK for me to change Tetris from NES to Game Boy? It does make a lot more sense. If not that's alright as it should be the #1 Puzzle game regardless.
