The way I see it this season is just year of practice for the offense. The core of the offense is extremely inexperienced and has a long way to go. Little has some major problems catching the ball but the Browns clearly want him to be a big part of their future. At this rate it doesn't look likely but stranger things have happened. He'll pan out if the Browns don't give up on him. Problem is that there will definitely a lot of growing pains along the way and Shurmur's job isn't exactly secure. Not sure how much leash Little will have from this staff. It's a confidence and awareness thing right now. Nice to see Weeden kept going back to him though, especially last play of the game even though it was overthrown.
The entire front office is #### canned is this year is being treated as a year of practice. Who knows if new guys will want anything to do with any of these guys. The way I see it this season is just year of practice for the offense. The one thing in his favor is that everyone else drops the ball too. Cameron had an important drop, Norwood dropped it more than Little and Cribbs is injured. Gordon is invisible so Little still remains a decent stash in a PPR. And as I said before, that TD would have been a top 10 catch. Yes, it is one that we have been accustomed to NFL receivers making but Mayoch is an idiot and made it seem like a normal "Greg Little Drop".It goes a lot further than confidence and awareness. If it were just one or two problems they'd be correctable. There's several, so by the time they're fixed he'll be on a different team. Or out of the league. He'll pan out if the Browns don't give up on him. Problem is that there will definitely a lot of growing pains along the way and Shurmur's job isn't exactly secure. Kind of seems like you're exhibiting confirmation bias to me. Unless you're privy to the 11on11 tapes, how are you able to make judgements on his route running given that you can't actually see the WRs running routes on the standard live feed? I also find it kind of silly to make assumptions about someone's mental game based on him celebrating a first down; even ignoring the fact that he's far from the only one to have ever done that, if a player is able to pump himself up or whatnot who's to say he's not better off celebrating his receptions even if he looks dumb doing it? Obviously the amount of drops he's had so far into the season are a pretty major red flag, but at least he's shown the ability to get open and make a play on the ball (even if he ends up dropping it). If he actually caught a couple of these dropped balls today, he would have had 100+ receiving yards and a TD. It's far too early to give up on the guy imo.None of those guys act like they won the Super Bowl when they get a first down. Mentally, Little is nowhere close to being there. His routes have been just as inconsistent as last year too. Zero development.

Well that is a straw man if I ever saw one. For one, even if he makes the catch for a TD, they are still losing by 3. Secondly, that would have been a hell of a diving catch. Plenty of professional receivers miss those catches weekly (just ask Wes Welker one of the best receivers in the game on an easier ball). Thirdly, I know his other drop was like a 5 yard over the middle pattern where even if he caught it, I'm not sure he would have stayed in and I know it would have still been short for a first. The 2nd drop would have been a 10 yard gain for a first. So lets not blame this loss on Little especially when Norwood seemed to have more drops and Cameron wasn't exactly using stick-um either. If he actually caught a couple of those balls the Browns would have won. I did not watch the game so this is a guess. Maybe the Browns were passing because the Ravens D was geared to stop the run? If I was an opposing team, I would dare Weeden and his crew of stone-handed WRs to beat me. Even if the WRs do get open, they will likely not catch the pass anyway.'sholditch said:I don't see how you have a 2:1 pass-run ratio when you have the personnel that the browns do.
You can ignore me, it's fine, I only follow the Browns 365 days/year and over analyze everything about this team - because there's something wrong with me. His mental issues go far beyond just celebrating a 1st down, it's just what the nation saw so I cited it. Feel free to queue up every Browns game you can find and you'll see what I'm talking about his routes - sloppy, incorrect, quits halfway through - you name it, he does it. QB's can't trust him because they don't know where he'll be.I did not indict him after year 1, his rookie year went about exactly like I thought it would, but he had to grow coming into season 2 and all of the same problems that plagued him year 1 are still there.'Time Kibitzer said:Kind of seems like you're exhibiting confirmation bias to me. [WesleySnipes]Seeing ain't that important[/WesleySnipes]I wonder if the guy needs glasses or there is something wrong physically because his eye-hand coordination looks so off, I mean really really off.
Even if I watched every Browns game this season, how many times would they show Little running his full route? Being generous, I would guess that number would be 3-6 times (I think they showed 1-2 times yesterday)? I can't imagine it being a number high enough that I'd feel comfortable making any sort of judgement call on his route running. As for Weeden not trusting him, he sure kept on going back to him against the Ravens yesterday despite the drops. I know Massaquoi didn't play, but Little appeared to be the go to WR for Weeden last night and IIRC he went to him on the last play of the game for the win, which I wouldn't think is something Weeden would do if he didn't trust him.You can ignore me, it's fine, I only follow the Browns 365 days/year and over analyze everything about this team - because there's something wrong with me. I have zero explanation as to why he keeps going back to him. All it says to me is Gordon is still very far behind the curve and Weeden can't force feed the diminutive Benjamin. It's a choice between 2 raw athletes that have inconsistent hands and routes in Cameron and Little. He even tried to get Norwood involved last night after Cribbs went out.I imagine you don't want to take the time to look, just like I don't want to go back and find every single case I'm talking about - Little's routes are a disaster. Not saying it's uncorrectable, but it was a huge problem last year, and still is this year. Tough believing that it can be corrected at this point given all of his other issues.

I would compare this situation to the Giants and David Wilson.
Wilson is clearly a very talented guy(same as little), but he has had trouble picking up the playbook and is somewhat of a liability. so what do the Giants do? they keep him on the sideline.
as many think that they are destroying his confidence by benching him, who do you think is worse off right now, Greg Little getting the early opportunity, or David Wilson?
You have to protect your investment, I can't imagine Little has much confidence left... even if he does celebrate after every catch... all the drops and headlines about him have to have somewhat of an effect.

I just don't understand what you're basing the bolded on. One pick before Torrey Smith.I cannot believe the Browns drafted Little in the 2nd round. This is why the Browns continue to have poor teams. There is a lack of talent.

How can I prove you wrong? You talk about his route running as if you actually know what you are talking about. I ask you to supply which plays you see this on and you start deflecting with bs like your last post. If you're going to talk to talk, back it up with examples....otherwise its justhttp://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index.php?app=core&module=search&search_in=forumshttps://www.google.com/I love these types of comments. Please prove me wrong, I want to be wrong, I hate losing.
How many drops did the Ravens have?Ball was a little slick last night due to the weather'sporthenry said:Well that is a straw man if I ever saw one. So lets not blame this loss on Little especially when Norwood seemed to have more drops and Cameron wasn't exactly using stick-um either.'plasticman said:If he actually caught a couple of those balls the Browns would have won. Keyword being caught...'Time Kibitzer said:Kind of seems like you're exhibiting confirmation bias to me. It's far too early to give up on the guy imo.'MAC_32 said:None of those guys act like they won the Super Bowl when they get a first down. Mentally, Little is nowhere close to being there. Already wrote what he's guilty of, he's done all of those several times across almost every game in his 20 game career. Go to nfl game rewind, pick one, then watch all of his routes - don't forget yourHow can I prove you wrong? You talk about his route running as if you actually know what you are talking about. Greg Little just now"We have 12 games left to go 12-4"Yeah, everything is alright upstairs with him.
Terrell Owens struggled with drops his whole career. So have Bowe and Marshall. In fact, Marshall had a whopping 35 drops the past three years. Also, last year Eric Decker had a 17% drop rate compared to Little's 18.7%.Hard to remember a WR with a drops problem who one year just gets better.RBs with fumbling problems, yes; WRs no.
Torrey Smith had probs with drops last year. . .Im gonna give little the rest of the year before making a final judgement.Hard to remember a WR with a drops problem who one year just gets better.RBs with fumbling problems, yes; WRs no.
