Had beers last night with 2 Detroit Lions (1 Viewer)

Da Guru

Fair & Balanced
There is a pub close to my house that a couple of Lions hang out at.

Last night we were in there having dinner and noticed this huge guy..it turned out to a a Lion O-lineman.

Since we know the owner he introduced us. After a couple of pints is was like hanging out with my old buddies. The stories were flying.

One story was that all the offensive players think Martz is out of his mind. I was told they practice some running plays all week..rep after rep. Then never use those plays in the game. Then when it get to crunch time Martz is calling these crazy plays that they have not ever practiced during the week.

The guy was a little bitter that the o-line coach was fired as well.

Actually a few more things were talked about, but you would know the player.

It was pretty cool.

I think Da Guru is lion to us.

Hey, but seriously, I had a coffee with Bobby Ross when he was coach of the Lions one year at the SF airport. He was here scouting the East-West Shrine game. We talked for nearly an hour about a lot of things, and he confessed he liked coaching the college game a lot more than the pros.

Lions games get to crunch time? :excited:

I hear a crazed masked man ran at the poor female bartender in an attempt to rob her. He slipped between the two Lions' O-lineman and was successful.

The cops showed up and asked which way the man fled, and Roy Williams emphatically pointed the way, seemingly happy despite the fact a robbery just occured.

Martz convinced Rod Marinelli to challenge that a robbery even occured, but the bar's video surveillance system showed that it was ovbious an incident took place, and police where puzzled why Martz would even question this fact.

Head of security, Matt Millen, somehow kept his job despite the ease in which the robbery took place, baffling everyone.

Confused... Title says "2 Detroit Lions", but the story reads like there was just one. Who was the other?
A backup lineman I never heard of. I had to go home and pull up the roster to see who it was.

His Army team did suck, but compare it to the Army team he took over. I think they had something like a 17 game losing streak just before he arrived. He did improve the program in his time there. But he's also 70 now and admitted before retiring he doesn't have the energy he used to have. When I talked with him, it was in January of 1998 I think.

The Lions were in many close games in the fourth quarter this year..they just did not win any of them.
