How I Met Your Mother (2 Viewers)

What was the May 2009 goat in the apartment thing about? I thought I remembered that from a previous episode, but, I can't remember which one.

Last year's season finale maybe? Red rescued the goat from a farmer on show and tell day in her kindergarten, and took it back to the apartment... There is a b-day party for Ted. Right at the end, they show the goat eating some of Robin's clothes in Ted's bathroom and Bob Saget said something along the lines of "wait, I must have my dates wrong, as Robin did not live with me until after that party".Showing the goat again was just a gag.
So was last night's subtle reveal that Robin is not the mom newsworthy or have I just not been paying close enough attention?
Bob Saget's been calling her "Aunt Robin" for quite some time now.

Figured it was just something I had missed.

I would be surprised if Robin is the mother at this point.Just keep an eye out for a yellow umbrella

The pilot episode was Ted & Robin's first date. He stole a blue French Horn from a restaurant for her. Then he said "I love you." It freaked her out. She left. Then grown-up Ted said to his kids something to the effect of, "But that wasn't the end of our relationship, that's just the story of how I met... your Aunt Robin."

Huh. Like I said, I guess I overlooked it. Maybe I should drink less on Monday nights.

Well, the goat is going to be back this May (presumably for the finale). Which is why the title said May, 2009. The entire joke from last season's episode is that the producer's had teased the goat, and had the goat showing up in the flashbacks, when the goat had really been from the next year. So the goat is still important. The fact that the goat is from Lilly's school is further evidence that Lilly's Woo Girl Teacher acquaintance might be the Mother.

I still believe that someone earlier in this thread was onto something with the girl that Ted bumped into in the club (episode that had Vanessa Minillo in it :boing:). There was seemingly no other reason for him to randomly bump into her, and give her a line. It was out-of-place. Just sayin'

A.K.A. "The Bump Girl"

I think "Bump Girl" is certainly the leader in the clubhouse. My wife mentioned it immediately as a likely suspect. The Naked Man episode was the best since the Crazy/Hot scale and the Vickie Mendoza diagonal.

"I have nothing more to offer. I'm in like 5 fantasy football leagues and that's all I talk about" :gang2: :lmao: :lmao::lmao:Holy crap I was laughing my ### off there. The rest of the episode was a classic as well. I do love this show.
Finally had the opportunity to catch this on TIVO, and it was outstanding.Although my wife laughed a little too hard at the fantasy football leagues part for my liking.

My buddy just saw this week's rerun and is now convinced that the girl sabotaging Barney is The Mother. I countered, saying that I believe it's "bump girl."

We now have a bet...three slaps, a la Barney/Marshall, for whoever is right.

Oh yeah? I bet it's Britney Spears!

I was going to say the same thing... but then I chalked it up to bad grammar, and let it go.

FYI Lifetime starts airing the repeats from season 1 on Monday
Thanx. It's top 5 on my list of TV series to buy, but I haven't got around to it yet.
For those of you who need to catch up or have yet to join the party, Amazon.com is having all 3 seasons on sale for $19.95 each.
Barney spiking the TVs every time had me laughing.....Barney is :money:
Best parts of the episode.

Sometimes its like they put exact scenes from my life into the TV. Weird. Or should I say, "w i e r d"
Agreed. I was in college when "Mad About You" was popular. Never really cared for it...I didn't get it. A big chunk of it was Paul/Jamie were late 20's/early 30's, married, careers, no kids (for most of the show). I couldn't identify with them. Now I'm in my early/mid 30's, married, careers, no kids. I watch reruns of the show and it really feels like someone taped an afternoon of my life and put it on TV. I love HIMYM because I can vividly remember going through many of the things they're dealing with just 5-10 years ago. That said, the show would've been canceled long ago were it not for Neil Patrick Harris. Now that they're married, Lilly and Marshal rarely offer anything, and the sexual tension between Ted/Robin has already run it's course.

I just finished watching season 1 and 2. They were on sale, so i thought they were worth a look.

I have to say, more and more I think Robin and Barney end up together when this show ends. It might just be me.

I was checking on something about this show on IMDB, and came across this tidbit that I thought was mildly interesting...

How come we don't see the kids that much anymore, and when we do, they don't seem to be as interactive with Future Ted?

One of HIMYM's conceits is that the entire story is being told in one sitting; the kids are wearing the same clothes (except for the pilot, a discrepancy we're supposed to ignore because there are often changes between a series' pilot and the subsequent episodes), and have on occasion alluded to how long Ted's been droning on.

The problem is that actors Lyndsey Fonseca and David Henrie have been growing up; one can even see the difference between their Season 1 footage and Season 2 footage. So all the footage we've seen (and will probably ever see) of the kids was shot in Season 2, with what apparently is a small library of reaction shots to be used in future episodes. Since many of these episodes were/are yet to be written back when they shot the footage, the kids won't be specifically reacting to stories in the future (unless they recorded some responses that are generic enough to be used as a reaction, something we haven't seen yet). The creators of the show have acknowledged this limitation, and believe that now that the show is well-established, viewers only need an occasional reminder of Ted's framing narrative (the non-interactive shots that we've seen since Season 3).

There *is* one instance of a pre-recorded reaction to a future episode that we know of: A scene with the kids that directly relates to the identity of the mother was shot in Season 2 under very secure/secret conditions. This scene is being saved for the show's finale.

Maybe it's just me, but the idea of a video website resume actually doesn't seem like all that bad of an idea. :)
