How I Met Your Mother (1 Viewer)

Watched a whole episode last night for the first time and was a little disappointed.

Jason Segel is definitely funnier in his movies (I Love You Man, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, etc.).

Last night's episode wasn't much of a Marshall ep. If you want to see him showcased, look for the Slapsgiving episode. Effin' funny.

Personally, I wouldn't judge it by that episode. I've seen them all (and like the show a lot) and I was a little disappointed by last night's as well.I'm not a big fan of the celebrity guest star thing, and the mid-show song has to be good for me not to be :goodposting: , and that song was pretty lame.

:lmao: this is one of the few shows on that still really make me laugh. even the so-so episodes make me laugh.

The role of Marshall severely limits Segal, he is much better playing an outgoing single person.

I walked into my communications speech final yesterday. There was a 5"x9" Barney Stinson legendary motivational poster at the front of class for the first time. Only three of us knew what it was from and couldn't stop laughing. Everyone else was clueless. It made my day.

Working my way through season 4 now.

The Naked Man!

The characters for me in the series so far:

Barney

Marshall

Ted

Barney's Chicks

Lilly/Robin

Barney and Marshall are by far the best, but Ted has really grown from the center of everyone elses jokes to bringing the funny in spots. I'm still not a fan of Robin although Robin Sparkles was money, and Lilly has dropped off since the early seasons.

Lilly is still awesome but she's gone from being the 2nd best in the show to just one of the gang. Not too much unlike Jennifer Aniston in Friends. Robin is eye candy but her character is underwhelming, or maybe it's her acting I can't really tell but she doesn't connect. Barney rocks of course, and Marshall is like the big friend we've all had at some point. I'm thinking we all connect best with Marshall but Barney is just hilarious.

I only caught random parts of episodes when they aired the first time and always sort of though of it as "that show that came on the same night as Big Bang Theory", but I've caught about all of the episodes now that it's syndicated all over the place. Boy, has my opinion changed. This show is really fantastic.

I think it's funnier than anything on TV now, with the possible exception of Modern Family.

One of the amazing parts of the show is that it has 5 main characters and I'd really have a hard time picking my favorite (though my least favorite would be a fairly easy choice with Ted, though he's still pretty funny). They all really shine when called upon. Contrary to what some have mentioned here, I think Robin is really funny. I probably shouldn't still find the Canada schtick as funny as I do, but I can't help it.
