What really hits me about ETM's death is just how awesome he would've been on Periscope. That would've been a goldmine of comedy right there.
Oh god yes. Eric scoping would have been amazing.
Eric still would've found a way to have tec...al d...ffic.....ies.

The Kendra girlfriend saga was also great with ETM.

Fast Forward to 2:25 for the Eric "Wild Thing" song. I almost forgot about it and heard it this morning...

(Lest you forget, Eric actually performed Wild Thing for her on his web cast. Of course, Richard and Sal changed the lyrics on him when they replayed in for Kendra)

Yup that was a good segment. Which segment with ETM isn't good?

very few 'pull over the car laughing' moments for me, but this was one.

Jackie opens up. The hosts are brutal but was a great listen.

Really don't know why Artie, Jackie and John don't start a show together. So many personalities that aren't on Stern anymore that they could weave in.
I give credit to anyone that can get through this listening to these two broads.

OMG - they're horrible.
:goodposting:

After listening to the John/Artie podcast and this. Howard comes off looking like a real #######.

what's the big complaint about Howard from them?

He basically wrote both of them off in a very cold way.

Jackie was with him and the show for 18 years(?) and he wasn't invited to Howards wedding to Beth. Yet Chevy Chase was?

The way the Howard TV guys were treated. How John was treated.

Did you listen to either of the podcasts?

LOL, the playing the field comment had me rolling.

You are either with Howard or you are not with him. You cross him and his show and he has nothing but venom for you. Makes sense to me, at least when it comes to Jackie and John.

For some reason(money), Jackie and Artie both felt compelled to work many weekends out doing clubs and shows (Artie at least admitted that the money was huge). This led to them getting massive burnout and Jackie saying that way too much drinking and smoking and he needed to get away from it, at least that has always been part of his story. Artie became the train wreck that he became, but again his on air and on stage persona was a hard drinking druggie and I am certain that fans supplied in well excess to him. It was not Howard that made them do those things. They saw the money and went for it and paid the price in their personal lives.

No, I didn't listen to their podcasts.

I have plenty of close work friends who I never see after I stop working with them. The dynamic changes. John should be nothing but grateful to Howard for giving him his chance.. Same with Artie, he should have been fired long before he left the show.

I tell ya. I don't know what turned the show into the crap that it is now, but for me, at least 50% of the reason things went REALLY down hill was Eric The Midget dying.

My favorite Stern shtick/guest/caller/wack pack of all time.

I still listen to his call ins on a loop non stop.
Hank the Angry Drunk Dwarf was my man.

Agreed. He would do all stunts asked of him for the show and was probably the smartest wack packer ever. He was just sloppy drunk almost all of the time. Remember him hiding in foot locker and popping out to scare people...classic

I agree that some part of Howard takes it personally when people do not make the show their absolute priority. John taking that reality show and not telling anyone about it until the last second was the real problem. I also think that Howard mostly believes in his ability to channel the talents of everyone on the show and make them the most interesting and entertaining. Especially with John and Jackie. Probably less so with Artie, but it still was probably Artie's best work ever. I think that he values most people's contributions to his show, but ultimately believes that they are not as talented or creative as they think they are. For the most part, it might be true. So the fact that he's not that interested in those people outside of the show doesn't seem that surprising.

But ultimately with those 3 guys, it is more that Howard took offense with them making the show less of a priority which he takes as a major personal affront (For better or worse).

I think when Howard quits that Hein and Booey should continue to do the show without him. I like Howard's interviews generally, but most of the bits and his old man on a soapbox routine are pretty tired at this point. The wrap up show, for me, is generally more enjoyable because they don't have to tip toe around Howard. I would love for a guest to just come in and start clowning on Howard. The closest one I remember hearing was the Beastie Boys when they were first breaking in the 80's. They came in and gave Howard no respect and were acting like a bunch of ADD kids. It would be nice if one of them just went off on him like he has to them so often.

The wrap up show is ok, but if it doesn't revolve around Howard's show, I doubt I'd listen to it.

There is definitely that too. It is funny because one of Howard's rules has to not sell useless things that do not entertain to the audience. No tshirts or random logo /picture items etc and making money outside of the show is sort of a no no for the non air staff.

But he does not want the non talent getting diluted by other hosts ruining them either.

I can understand that. If that idiot sal went on another show to discuss his failed marriage, then what use does he serve to Howard?

The wrap up show barely talks about the Stern show now. Having 1-3 D or E list guests somewhat taking about the show makes no sense. It used to be really great.

Yeah I don't really listen the twus, but I look at marksfriggin sometimes and see a lot of guests on there. I assumed they were people who want to get booked on the show, but cant, so they throw them a bone. Lotta alt-comedy/improv world people (laurennlapkus, nick kroll, Paul scheer, etc.)

I think the wrap up show has a lot of semi famous guests on that are cross promoting other sirius shows and channels.

It would be fine if Gary and Jon just interviewed them, but they want the 3rd lead on a USA network drama to talk about Bobo and Jeff. It's boring radio.

I never liked Eric. That was a big reason I quit listening.
Still the most insane post ever.
Howard was smart enough to never reject an Eric call. The little guy made that show. However, one of the funnier bits was when he called in and they pretended that they couldn't hear him.
almost all of Eric's calls were great. Now they have to resort to Jeff the Drunk and Bobo, they both suck so bad they had to bring in the lump and toupee to make them entertaining.

Howard's contract time is coming up soon, right? He is in a dramatically different place than the last time:

1) AGT has turned him into someone who is a credible presence on mainstream TV

2) The effort to get A listers on to interview has paid off. His show is now a stop for just about anyone with something to promote.

3) the raunch factor has gone down by a lot on his show

4) the Fla. house, hanging with Hollywood royalty on vacations

5) the other cast/crew have had five years to prepare

I could easily see him move on to something else - a weekly interview show for HBO, or a streaming show of some sort.

Sour Shoes just pranked Francesa.

:lmao:

I don't get Howard's channel anymore. Does he still take Fridays off? If he plays this on the air on Monday, one of you MUST get me the audio somehow!
LOL. He takes Thursdays and Fridays off the weeks he does work.

And they have an entire year to replay this week but they are playing the same interviews during the drive to and from work, 7-9am eastern and 5-7pm eastern each day. So frustrating.
