I am watching every Bond movie: please kill me (2 Viewers)

I'm confused. You say you are a Bond movie fan, yet you hate twice as many as you like. What's your definition of "fan"?

I've watched like 14 of these ####ing things in 8 weeks. What more do you need from me to see I'm a fan? To blow the guy?

Sorry, I just don't see why you would want to be a fan of something you really don't like for the most part.

But whatever makes you happy... or unhappy... oh, forget it.

I've thoroughly enjoyed all of this.

Cappy's not doing this, but have you ever heard of hate-watching?

I did this same exercise a couple of years ago except I didn't drag my wife into it, and I enjoyed every single movie. Some of them were stupider and cheesier than others, but they were all good fun. Sorry you don't like the genre.

I haven't but I do hate-read the Walking Dead thread.

One of the movie channels has been doing a marathon, mostly the Moore movies. Caught the opening to A View to a Kill. Bond inventing snowboarding while the Beach Boys California Girls plays is fantastic.

Octo##### is one of the weakest in the entire series. Not horrible but pretty lame compared to many other great Bond movies. As far as Roger....he made three great ones for my taste.

The Man With The Golden Gun

The Spy Who Loved Me

Moonraker

All with flaws, all with cheese, but all three had awesome evil bad guys. That is what makes or breaks Bond movies for me.

Think it is Encore. Over the weekend, they did a whole day full. It was a mix of old Connery and Moore, with "Never" thrown in there. Now they are repeating all of the movies in their mix. Would like to see some different ones!

Thanks. Seemed every time I scrolled through it was a Roger Moore.

I know suspension of disbelief is kind of important for Bond in general. But is Bond hanging on the outside of the plane in Octo, the most physically impossible feat ever performed by Bond? Exactly what was he hanging onto when he let go of the antenna?

:lmao:
Look Cappy, if you can't get into Bond disguising himself as a clown to infiltrate a traveling circus entirely fabricated to plant a bomb in the middle of some air base followed by a small forces infiltration of a criminal mastermind's fortress done by supermodels in black spandex jumpsuits, all set to Love Boat quality disco background music, this may not be the genre for you.

How can you not like that?

Excellent write up!

I like Octo##### more than Moonraker or The Man With The Golden Gun. A View To A Kill is Moore's worst one.

In theory AVTAK has the best theme song. Only one to go #1. :headbang:

From "The band so good they named it twice." - Pure 80s teen talk.

The movie should have ended after the song. :bye:

I think CR was really good, Quantum was poo, and Skyfall was awesome.
You sir are exactly right.
Skyfall was bloated and made no sense. I like Quantum better.
Quantum of Solace is the dumbest named Bond movie ever, which is really saying something.

I liked the concept of the shadowy group and all of that. And the scenes in Port Au Prince and in the opera house in Austria were great. The last third of the movie was TURRIBLE though.

Completely agree.Quantum of Solace is a disgrace to the Daniel Craig Bond.

I have to go watch Skyfall again, I can not remember anything about it...
I loved it, except for the fact that the caretaker at Skyfall appeared way too close in age to Bond.
I seem to remember liking the movie at the time, but totally drawing a blank about what happened in it. Guess I can watch it again for the first time!
Alzheimer's?

Pretty sure Mrs. Capella has Cappy tied down to a table with a laser gun pointed at his crotch threatening to split him in half if he attempts to watch another Bond film.

Tried to sit thru the Lazenby one last night...other than Savalas, what a snoozer.
All the early 007 films (up to Her Majesty's) unfold at a much slower pace than modern audiences are accustomed to. There are long stretches of the movies where very little happens either in terms of exposition or action. Other than a couple of fist fights, Lazenby has very little to do before the ski chase happens midway through the film.

I think the producers realized the pacing problems and started to step it up with Diamonds Are Forever. This one and the Roger Bonds that followed were essentially one long chase with action set pieces scattered throughout the script.
