This is the hardest part. These Moore movies are like when those guys on tv try to eat those 70-ounce steaks. There is so much of it that it eventually becomes impossible to eat, it all taste the same, and then you want to throw up and die.For the love of money penny, get to Dalton already. It'll be like watching Scorsese compared to the Moore films.
Glad to see you're still thoroughly enjoying this. I'm just surprised you haven't made it the whole way through by now so you can start all over again. This is the hardest part. Did your wife know or was it one of those deals where you quickly changed the channel whenever she came into the room?

I have seen less than half of the Bond flicks, so I can't say how it compares to the others, but this was a very strange movie. The voiceover when he was impersonating the professor just seemed bizarre.Tried to sit thru the Lazenby one last night...other than Savalas, what a snoozer.
"Look there's the tell. By god Bond was right!"Finally watched Casino Royale. What a cheese ball movie. I thought this got great reviews.![]()
The hold 'em scenes are embarrassing even to a poker novice let alone one of the top 2% of all pokerstars tournament players in 2005 but they were trying to capitalize on the popularity of poker around the time the movie was conceived. Finally watched Casino Royale. everything else is overdone to close to caricature level, but the poker has to be realistic? The hold 'em scenes are embarrassing even to a poker novice let alone one of the top 2% of all pokerstars tournament players in 2005 but they were trying to capitalize on the popularity of poker around the time the movie was conceived. Finally watched Casino Royale. The rest of the movie is pretty solid if they just could've shored that part up.. hell they should have stuck with a bacarrat tournament or something.

Pretty much like every sports movie, the plot can be as nonsensical as hell but the playing action has to look real.everything else is overdone to close to caricature level, but the poker has to be realistic? The hold 'em scenes are embarrassing even to a poker novice let alone one of the top 2% of all pokerstars tournament players in 2005 but they were trying to capitalize on the popularity of poker around the time the movie was conceived. Finally watched Casino Royale. What happened on that hand is less realistic than a lot of the ridiculous stunts IMO.everything else is overdone to close to caricature level, but the poker has to be realistic? The hold 'em scenes are embarrassing even to a poker novice let alone one of the top 2% of all pokerstars tournament players in 2005 but they were trying to capitalize on the popularity of poker around the time the movie was conceived. Finally watched Casino Royale. Is that really all that different from Bond getting to a bomb and diffusing it with 1 sec left on the timer? What happened on that hand is less realistic than a lot of the ridiculous stunts IMO.everything else is overdone to close to caricature level, but the poker has to be realistic? The hold 'em scenes are embarrassing even to a poker novice let alone one of the top 2% of all pokerstars tournament players in 2005 but they were trying to capitalize on the popularity of poker around the time the movie was conceived. Finally watched Casino Royale. The odds of something like that happening on a single hand are too high to calculate.
A meltdown by each guy after the next beat his hand would've made it more believable. The hold 'em scenes are embarrassing even to a poker novice let alone one of the top 2% of all pokerstars tournament players in 2005 but they were trying to capitalize on the popularity of poker around the time the movie was conceived. Finally watched Casino Royale. Actually that's true. If that really happened live i'd be seriously questioning the legitimacy of the dealer and would demand to see the tapes of the shuffle.A meltdown by each guy after the next beat his hand would've made it more believable. The hold 'em scenes are embarrassing even to a poker novice let alone one of the top 2% of all pokerstars tournament players in 2005 but they were trying to capitalize on the popularity of poker around the time the movie was conceived. Finally watched Casino Royale. As it is, everyone reacted pretty well for a winner take all tournament.
At a minimum i'd have ripped my cards in half, someone most likely would've #### or vomited on the table.
Highly unlikely but I have watched a few. Usually they are cast interviews from the 70s, standing on the balcony of some fabulous hotel overlooking some exotic beach. Are you planning on tackling the 120 hours of bonus features over the summer?
Capella going over the humpLast one and you are over the hump! You can do it. Go for it!
Dalton will feel like a breath of fresh air!
Walken and Grace Jones are great in that one. Couple cool stunts, good climatic scene. Lousy Bond girl. Overall weak effort for Moore's finale.1. From Russia
2. Goldfiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinger (he's just too much!)
3. Dr. No
4. You Only Live Twice
5. Thunderball
6. The Spy Who Loved Me
7. The Man With The Golden Gun
8. Moonraker
9. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
10. Diamonds Are Forever
11. Live and Let Die
12. For Your Eyes Only
13. Octo#####
After 2.5 months and watching it multiple times, we (I) finally finished off Octo#####. I could never make sense with what was happening with the circus and such so I just suffered through the finish in order to say I did it. My soul is dead.
Next is A View to Kill, and I am not kidding when I say the long delay here is because I can't take anymore Roger Moore. We were watching some angry midget reality show the other day and I thought "this would be a perfect time to watch A View to Kill" and then I remembered what movie we were up to and I just sat there watching the angry midget show instead.
Pray for me.
Also, IIRC the Russian spy he gets into the hot tub with is extremely hot.Walken and Grace Jones are great in that one. Couple cool stunts, good climatic scene. Lousy Bond girl. Bolts - Red Wings Thursday. Def want to knock out that last Moore either tonight or tomorrow. And Capella, what's tomorrow?
I'll tell you what tomorrow is:
It's HUMP day!!!!!!

A view to a kill is classic Walken Villain at least. Moore is awful and the plot is questionavle but this is it. Breeze through this one and endure a high speed blimp chase and you're home free into non stop action.
Livings Daylights is top 10 for me. License to kill I could take or leave.Capella is still in the great depression of Bond films. Since he didn't mention Never Say Never, I am guessing that he skipped over that one (not that it is in the top half of Bond films). From here on out, there are 3 candidates for Top 10 overall status (based on individual preference of course) in GoldenEye, Casino Royale, and Skyfall. But there are that many or more Bottom 10 candidates in A View To A Kill and the 3 other Brosnan efforts. The 2 Dalton offerings aren't bad (but still not great) and don't really feel like Bond movies. Living Daylights could have been a regular, non-descript spy/action movie that just happened to have a lead character named James Bond. Are there folks that feel either of the two Dalton films rank in the Top 10 overall?
Grace Jones is terrible. Roger Moore has stated countless times in interviews that she was a wretched person to work with... the most challenging person he worked with in all the years on the part.Walken and Grace Jones are great in that one. I personally would not rank Living Daylights ahead of Dr. No, From Russia, Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live, Spy Who Loved Me, GoldenEye, Casino Royale, or Skyfall. That's 9 locks in my own rating scale. I would likely say I could probably come up with 10 others I liked less than Living Daylights: View to a Kill, Tomorrow Never Dies, T.W.I.N.E, Die Another Day, Never Say Never, QOS, Octo, Diamonds Are Forever, and Live & Let Die.I'd put Living Daylights in my top 10.
Also the blonde chick in the riding pants. Jenny Flex. View to a Kill needed a lot more of her. And less Grace Jones and Tanya Roberts. Also, IIRC the Russian spy he gets into the hot tub with is extremely hot.Walken and Grace Jones are great in that one. Couple cool stunts, good climatic scene. I know Dalton's movies did horribly... but read about the marketing disaster that was License to Kill.... I do think Dalton was the least marketable guy, but his interpretation was very good IMO.. very similar to how Craig is doing it, but Craig just has more charisma.I personally would not rank Living Daylights ahead of Dr. No, From Russia, Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live, Spy Who Loved Me, GoldenEye, Casino Royale, or Skyfall. I personally liked License to Kill a little more than Living Daylights (probably because I like the women better), but Living Daylights seems very unlike a Bond movie. The end of Living Daylights seems to go on and on for me. Depending on the day, I guess Living Daylights could rank in the 10-14 range (so a grouping in no order of Man w/Golden Gun, Moonraker, For Your Eyes, License To Kill, Living Daylights).
As for the debate as to whether Dalton might have been a bigger star in GoldenEye, I would tend to side with "probably not." His two outings really didn't do well in the States (and pretty much did worse than the 80's Moore movies). GoldenEye did triple what License to Kill made in the U.S. (and double worldwide). I would guess that had more to do with Brosnan taking over as Bond. From GoldenEye on, all 7 Bond flicks have eclipsed $300M at the global box office (only Moonraker had hit $200M worldwide of the first 17 movies up until GoldenEye).

Are the numbers you're talking about inflation adjusted?
Keep in mind Goldeneye had some of the best marketing (coming off the horrific marketing of License to kill) for a Bond movie ever... Good song, great video game, cool name for a movie, etc.
