I was wrong about ___________? (1 Viewer)

Yep.  It's hard to get jazzed when they roll out something new.  After 20 years it's almost impossible to not be cynical.
Yeah, lots of BS but I'm sure most professions have that. As a teacher, you should know what works. Lots of the new stuff is just repackaged old stuff. The new stuff that is tech based is great. I'm in year 10 and I feel I'm close to being really good. Just so much to know and learn and build on.

Education is filled with the next big thing. I hope CC sticks around in Michigan. You can't ever get worthwhile data if curriculum and tests change every couple years.
People learn in different ways. Why is it so hard to realize that there is no one best way to teach. Diversity in curriculum is a GOOD thing.

I was a big proponent of charter schools...until I got elected to serve on a local public school board and was elected treasurer.  Now that I see how the money is being spent in public schools for pre-K through 12 to meet the needs of a wide array of needs, I am a firm believer that charter schools are not the answer because they take away higher achievers from the public schools and the funding for them while rejecting higher need students and leaving the public schools burdened to meet the needs of those students with a lower operating budget.  It is a disservice to both schools due to economies of scale, student diversity, and character development.

disclaimer - I am not opposed to private schools or home schooling in any way as that is a parental choice which those parents are determined to fund outside of state aid and levies, but charters are attempting to have the best of both worlds at the expense of our public school system.

I think I actually posted this at the time, but I really believed Trump would drop out prior to the New Hampshire primary because it was a publicity stunt, and that Jeb Bush would be the nominee.

Then I thought Hillary had it wrapped up.

Until the late 80's, I too believed marijuana was bad and homosexuality was a choice.

I was on the "Santa Claus exists" side until I was about 6.

I was on the "God exists" side until I was about 17.

Today, I am undecided on whether Taylor Swift and Demi Lovato have talent, or I am blinded by their looks.

I don't like to insult people. All of my wrong predictions about this election came down to the fact that I thought that more of the American public was smarter than they turned out to be. I actually still think they are; it was a momentary lapse.
Presidency's are like NFL drafts...you never know how good or bad they are until 4-5 years down the road.

Viagra.     I knew a guy who worked for Pfizer and 2 years before anyone ever heard of Viagra he told me they are working on a drug that makes your weiner hard and if I had some extra cash I should look into Pfizer stock.  At the time it seemed so absurd I thought he was out of his mind. Now we have Viagra race cars and sponsoring NFL games.

Thought the same thing when my friend told me about Garmin's a couple of years before they came out. "This little device in my car is going to tell me where to go turn by turn??

The night Obama won the first election I was at a bar and observed a group of black guys, around my age, watching the coverage. Even though I wasn't an Obama supporter I was happy for those guys and I remembered thinking how good this was going to be for the black community and for our country in general regarding race relations.

I thought pro wrestling was "real" until my early teenage years.

My 76 year old dad still believes the NBA is as "fixed" as pro wrestling.   :oldunsure:

Men's Health cover boys/infomercial bod-models are natural and got that way by doing the routines/using the machines they are advertising.

So you condone educating people to become victims in life, you would make a ####ty teacher. You probably would fit in but you would be a really ####ty teacher. Just tell these poor people that their lives will not get any better.

Greatest country, more wealth than the rest of the World but we are born into holy hell here in America? It's not really a question but a summary of your POV

You should GTBleepOut while you still can.
Seriously, stop it.  Step away.  You're going full bore at good people for no good reason. And it seems - though it may not be - intoxicated.  In a bad way.

Mr Ford,

I appreciate the compliment because it would seem you feel I am not hitting my mark tonight, sorry. But look at what you just posted.

-Higgs, Beaver, HellToupe, Card Trader, William Munny, they are all good posters too and they are being attacked for no reason other than their open support for the soon to be POTUS. I've kept the MoP artillery and armor to a minimum but I'm tired of folks being held to double standards and I have done my best to be a diplomat to both sides whether you believe it or not. I know the folks who hate the Trumpers would love for MoP to go away or stay out of it...not gonna happen.

I cannot be bought off with empty trophies and awards this year. I've earned my seat at the table, my education and use of the English language is 2nd to NO ONE in here, get it thru your thick skulls! Just because you think you are smarter than everyone wh might have supported Trump doesn't make it true, sorry to burst your bubble. If anyone is drunk and railing, it certainly is not the Trumpers in here.

:boxing:  Boom Boom

But Henry, I prefer to think of us more like :suds:

I had to go to the IBS Doc today...Friday thread but I take your word I'm especially snippy tonight

I loved Alanis Morrisette's "Ironic." It came out when I was 16. I bought the whole album and listened to it all summer.

I hesitated sharing this because I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to live it down.
This is a safe space GB.

MOP with the atomic knee drop!

What is something you believed strongly for years that you've had to disregard in the face of evidence?

1) That the apparent asymmetry in the lateral inversion of mirrors could be psychologically explained by employing the theory of gravity.

2) That my mastery of sarcasm made my use of it clear to all...as sarcasm.  Ouch; tough lesson learned.

What's ironic is this post is just a softball hangin right over the plate.... and I can't think of a good punchline.  :bag:

I was wrong about Margaret Mary...she actually did want me to do that.

I was also wrong about Kathleen...she didn't want me to do that.
