If TEN wins homefield this week, Jeff Fisher comments on resting playe (1 Viewer)

Firstly this was a radio show so no link, but I am a Titans homer and listen in every week so disregard this post at your own peril

Secondly, Fisher did say (and i paraphrase) "if we are lucky enough to have that luxury" or something like that - so he is not obviously counting his chickens yet

Fisher mentioned that (again i paraphrase) "starters will probably be out by halftime" and "just need to get a few reps in and then get em out"

so just an FYI

also, if PIT wins they both play at noon on Sunday of Week 17 so if PIT is up BIG at halftime Week 17 vs. CLE look for maybe the same thing since TEN would have nothing to play for at Indy and would probably have an eye on that PIT/CLE score especially if CLE plays as bad as they did this week

Someone pointed out that TEN has nothing to play for regardless in WK17 since PIT will have the tie breaker if TEN loses this week.

But if the Steelers lose in week 17, the Titans could pass them up in the standings even if Pittsburgh wins on Sunday.

currently:

12-2 TEN

11-3 PIT

if PIT wins this week:

12-3 TEN

12-3 PIT (tiebreaker)

so yes PIT still HAS to win week 17 because a loss to CLE and a win by TEN and you'd have:

12-4 PIT (tiebreaker now meaningless)

13-3 TEN

Somehow, this resting players business never seems to work out more often than I hear of players getting hurt in these 'meaningless' games.

Weren't the Giants in that boat last year?

does starters include White? Anyone think they sit CJ and play white or does white sit too?

Man, this game is going to be boring after the first 1.5 - 2 quarters. Colts will start pulling people at the latest in the 3rd quarter. Sounds like the Titans will be very kid-gloved with anyone with any kind of ding/scratch. Neither team will probably care that much about winning. I'd almost think the Colts would care a bit more, just to even the season series and not get swept by TEN. As we can and very well might see them again.

Just a note, if my math is correct Peyton needs just over 100 yds passing to extend his streak of 4000 yd seasons. I'd definitely expect him to hang in there and get that much...beyond that, I doubt he'll last long.
