2025 Las Vegas Raiders thread - ☠ Jersey number is SRS BZNS ☠ (4 Viewers)

It’s a QB driven league period. Shame on this organization for having no plan at QB after cutting Carr. Ultimately the blame rests on Davis because McDaniels isn’t here anymore.
This team constantly does everything the wrong way. From the top down, rebuild after rebuild, everything falls apart because there hasn’t been consistent elite QB play since Gannon left.
Nothing will ever change until they find a QB. They can build around Crosby in the mean time but we’re finding out he can be neutralized by double teams, chipping, quick passes etc. In today’s NFL it’s nearly impossible to build at team based on elite defense. Even the Ravens are becoming known more for their offense, why? Elite QB play along with a Mack truck at RB. Two players that the Raiders could’ve had if they were smart.

Agreed on both points.

There is no need to panic, however, and bet the farm on an unproven prospect unless you are very confident in your assessment that he is going to actually be elite, then fine, go for it. But never shoehorn for the sake of addressing a need, not even one as criticially important as QB. Instead, bide time by building up the OL, DL, WRs, 2ndary with early picks in that priority order, until reasonable QB options come within striking distance. And while you invest those early picks to set up that future QB for success, keep investing mid/late picks EVERY year into developmental QBs.

Heck, even when you think you've found your QB, keep investing later picks into developmental dudes for depth and upgrade potential - see Brady, Tom and Purdy, Brock for prime examples of how/why to do that. Double heck, the position is so important that even if you have found a franchise QB, if a too-good-too-pass-up prospect QB comes along in Rd 1, take him anyway - see Rodgers, Aaron; Mahomes, Kermit; Love, Jordan; Penix, Michael...
Speaking of which, I wonder if the Falcons would trade Penix straight up for Brock Bowser right now. I also wonder if the Raiders would take the other end of that.

Up until this year I have been optimistic in general concerning the Raiders. Watch every game no matter what and have never rooted for them to lose. This team might be the hardest to watch of any team in the last 20 years and that's saying something. The best thing would be for the losses to pile up though. I can't say I'll be rooting for them to lose, but I won't be taking the losses very hard.
Wait, what? This is harder to watch than just one year ago? You prefer that mess to this mess? At least this mess seems to have 2 legitimate rookie pieces along the OL and 1 generational TE.
Which begs the question: are there degrees of messes?
ELAINE: Well, I mean, he was in the apartment, and then it's gone and it's in your apartment.
RAVA: Maybe you think we're in cahoots.
ELAINE: No, no...but it is quite a coincidence.
RAVA: Yes, that's all, a coincidence!
ELAINE: A big coincidence.
RAVA: Not a big coincidence. A coincidence!
ELAINE: No, that's a big coincidence.
RAVA: That's what a coincidence is! There are no small coincidences and big coincidences!
ELAINE: No, there are degrees of coincidences.
RAVA: No, there are only coincidences! ..Ask anyone! (Enraged, she asks everyone in the elevator) Are there big coincidences and small coincidences, or just coincidences? (Silent) ..Well?! Well?!

But, I want an elite franchise quarterback now, daddy!!!

You want to say last year's team was as bad as this one......ok fine with me. I was venting during the game on Sunday.
As far as 2 legitimate peices on the O line - I hope they are legit, but I am for from seeing that so far. They have potential, but just because they are currently starting does not make them legit. I've seen Glaze give up sacks and commit penalties, but he's a rookie third rounder, so that's to be expected. I can't say I've seen much from JPJ or Glaze for me to declare them legit already.
And from last year to this year we exchanged one coaching staff that proved they were not good for another that doesn't inspire much confidence.

Pulling for Ridder. Seems like a good dude. His full season numbers are right on par with Minshew's but I think he offers a little more in the running department.
I bet on him and the Falcons last year when the Saints visited Atlanta. Was counting on Carr to do Carr things and he did me one better--a pick 6 and he couldn't get the Saints in the end zone. Falcons won 24-15. Ridder was OK, a beautiful TD pass to Robinson in the face of heavy pressure. On the other hand he threw two awful interceptions, both to Mathieu, one inside the Saints 5.
I think Minshew is pretty well broken at this point, an accumulation of things and culminating with the Surtain pick 6. Whether he's running into sacks or throwing balls to the other team, I'm kinda at the point where the best I hope for is he doesn't lose a game for 'em and have given up any ideas he can win many. The Ravens game seems like a long time ago.
Some are saying we've only seen the "bad" Minshew and there's the "good" version lurking. I have my doubts.
I'm hoping Ridder starts next week. Can't be any worse than what they're trotting out there.

They're both broken.

The bad and good Minshew show up from play-to-play but the bad is winning, and it isn't even close. Honestly there needs to be a mercy rule of some sort to just get him off the field.

Ditto, Ridder.

FTR I'm not rooting for either of these two to succeed on any level. The only Raiders QB I will actively root for is this practice squad guy, whose name I don't recall but I love him regardless. What is it Chaz...ter...ton...Ell...wo...rth?!?! Chazterton Ellsworth!!! GO TEAM CHAZTERTON!!!

Dump the retreads! Rich Gannon was a Unicorn!... NO!!! He was THE UNICORN!!!! There will never be another.

I see where you're coming from, I sincerely do, but Harbaugh was a week one starter from year four and nine years after. And his best year was... mediocre. He put up one pro bowl and 129 total passing TDs in his entire 14 year career, culminated by a magical 1995 AFC Championship game appearance.

Gannon's first season as a week one starter was his 13th season! He was 34 years old! And he became a 4x pro bowler and 2x AP All Pro. In six seasons with the Raiders he threw 114 TDs (105 in his four completely healthy seasons).

Sorry, but Harbaugh had an accidental, magical playoffs for the Colts where in he was the driving factor of their success for a couple games in the playoffs.

Gannon was the driver of one of the best offenses in the NFL for four seasons with a Super Bowl appearance against the one coach who knew everything about the team (ans the whole Barret Robbins fiasco), two AFC Championship games (####### Tony Siragusa killed one of them), a B.S. league wide rule changing call in a divisional round that launched the worst thing to ever happen to the NFL.

So, no offense but keep your stale beer.

ETA: I am certain you know this is all said with respect and love. But, in 2024 I do feel the need to say that,.just in case anything is misinterpreted.

Hey Guys, I mentioned before I'll be heading out to Vegas (From Western NY) for the Broncos Game on 11/24 with my son who Just turned 21 for his first NFL game. Waiting on the tickets still based on the excellent advice here.
Staying Sat Night-Tuesday Morning, so just trying to plan a few things out on what we want to do and see.

Current thoughts, after the game, heading to Top Golf to watch the Sunday Night game.
Planning on the Stadium tour at 10AM on Monday, grabbing Lunch and then a Sphere show at 4:30, then head to Circa to catch the second half on MNF.
Then maybe hitting up some casinos on the strip after that.

Any recommendations or thoughts on the above. Worth it/not worth it?
Any shows a must see? I picked the sphere as it likely something we both would enjoy and Top Golf cause he currently works at a Golf Course.
We both play Hold'em but nothing high stakes, looking online MGM grand has some 1/2 NL cash games, other places better?
Food recommendations that aren't completely overpriced? Heard Wicked Spoon is a decent buffet.

Thanks for any input/advice.

I like the vibe Pierce put out in his latest and last press conference before Sunday. I think the team will be ready but obviously very undermanned. They absolutely need Meyers of course and even with him they need to play about a perfect game to have any chance.
It'll be interesting to see how they perform relative to last Christmas day. That was an amazing performance by the defense, very few missed tackles and when they were missed it seemed the Raiders had 3 or 4 guys nearby ready to pounce.
Regardless of the outcome and based on what Pierce said, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Raiders take plenty of shots at Mahomes should he leave the pocket. Pierce preached being smart about that and said he didn't want any personal foul penalties but I think secretly he really wouldn't mind one or two. In the words of Al Davis, "The quarterback must go down and he must go down hard."
Here's hoping for at least a credible performance.

Las Vegas Raiders star rusher Maxx Crosby has been working daily with Tom Brady’s body expert, Alex Guerrero.

Crosby was at the Raiders' facilities on Monday from 6 a.m. until late afternoon, despite it being the team's day off.

The whole country playing RealGM and sending Maxx back home for two 1sts.

Kept telling everyone that ain't happening. Man loves being a Raider, the man is the Raiders.

I love that about him.

A lot of superstars would just pull the ripcord. Hey guys, I'm not getting any younger, I want a chance to play for a ring.

Not Maxx.

On his podcast this week:

"It’s like they’ve started a whole, like, pandemonium, a whole movement, like a revolution, and it’s like, I'm sitting here innocently and just doing what I do and I feel like I got to like address it with my teammates. I’m like, I’m not trying to leave. I know it’s a ****ing business, I don’t have 100% control and all that, but I want to be here, I want to be Silver and Black.

I’ll say it loud and ****ing clear, I want to be a Raider. I’ve said that over and over and over again."

Two 1'st rounders.... :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
It would have to be their entire draft class for the next three years to get me interested.

The Raiders need 52 more
Maxx Crosbys
That’d be a good team. Which player, if you cloned them 52x, would be the best team?
Bo

That’s a really good answer. Bo might be able to play all the positions. Was wondering how 53 Lamar Jackson’s would fare against 53 Penei Sewells.

I’m really a pretty easy going guy … I get along with almost everyone and generally have a positive vibe going all of the time …. but there is something about Mahomes that makes me feel a hatred like the heat of a thousand suns.

Same.

I also find myself fervently rooting against anything Aaron Rodgers.

Chiefs can still pull away more to make the score more respectable (respectable from KC’s pov, that is, since they should kill a team as horrible as the Raiders are)
