It just gets harder and harder to be a fan of this team.

I've been doing a lot of listening and reading about Brady last year or so. Although I still contend Montana was better, I've come to appreciate him more and more for the player he was, the drive he had to win and the sacrifices he made to do that.
I don't know if that will translate into his new role but what does Davis have to lose in giving him lots of input? Can't be any worse than things are now.

The Las Vegas Raiders--good for what ails ya and seemingly everybody's get right team and game.
Carolina Panthers come to town and leave with their first win. They leave and suck again.
Deshaun Watson comes to town and looks downright serviceable. He leaves and sucks again.
Bo Nix invites the Raiders into town and all his ills from the previous week go away. The Raiders leave and all those ills return.
Najee Harris comes to town fresh off rushing for 61 yards in 8 quarters and leaves with 106. He gains 36 yards on just one play. Harris leaves and ???

You are absolutely right and I completely understand all of that from a cold, logical perspective.

But...I just dislike him so very, very much.

I see Haason Reddick just hired Drew Rosenhaus as his agent. I'd say a deal gets done pretty quick now. But if not (or maybe if even)...how about Reddick to the Lions, Adams to the Jets and a 2nd (or a 3rd and 5th or 6th) to the Raiders?

Did anyone see Saints game yesterday? Their tackling might actually be worse than the Raiders--to the tune of 51 points allowed. Just awful.
And this just in...Spencer Rattler might be kinda good. If he makes some progress off his first start we could see one DCarr holding a clipboard going forward. Carr to the Raiders for a 5th???
With the 13th pick of the 5th round, the Raiders select Tommy Eichenberg, LB, Ohio State.
With the 15th pick of the 5th round, the Saints select Spencer Rattler, QB, South Carolina.

Please see my pleas pre-draft to draft Rattler (granted, it was all based on his name but still)

I hated Brady since the tuck rule game. I maintained Montana as the GOAT right up to him going to the Bucs and winning a SB. I conceded that he is the GOAT.

With him as an owner... I believe he will be a huge asset to get this team back to being a perennial playoff team like were from the 70's through to the turn of the century. He is a winner and it isn't b accident. He demanded everyone he played with to play better than they ever did before. I think they as an owner, he will come in and drive the organization to win and I also think he will spend time with whomever is our QB to mentor them.... because there is no way Brady would sit back and be part of an organization and not drive them to win by doing everything he could possibly do. That is his DNA.

And somehow beat the league's #1 offense on the road! But Baltimore sure got right after that.

God bless you. I wish I had as much faith in anything the way you have faith that the Raiders will turn into a contender. I do have strong faith that as long as Davis owns the team what you see is what you get.

Nasty, filthy Bradyses. We hates him! We hates him forever!!!

The Jets are trading for Raiders WR Davante Adams, sources confirm. The Raiders will receive a third-round pick that can become a second-rounder based on performance, I'm told.

Ian Rapoport
@RapSheet
The #Raiders had wanted a second-round pocket for their star WR. If he performs as he’s capable of, they’ll get it. My understanding is the conditions are based on individual performance.

2nd rounder if he is
  • 1st/2nd team All-Pro (chosen by the AP--- this is NOT the Pro Bowl)
  • On the active roster for AFC championship game or Super Bowl
So, most likely a 3rd rounder. We can hope for the Jets to win it all, for a late 2nd, or root for a collapse, for an early 3rd. I know which one I am rooting for.........

Based on the season so far the conditional pick portion of the trade could mean an 'up' in pick selection of 15 to 20 spots.

They trade a disgruntled receiver who would be cut next year anyway for a likely 3rd. Good deal for Raiders and Jets.

The Adams Era of the raiders started with such optimism and joy. (Wow! our team is going for it! And they got a bonafide stud instead of 2 dart throw draft picks, which they’re not good at picking anyway). And ends with a whimper and the feeling of talent wasted and missed opportunities.

Commitment to Excrement. Prove me wrong, Raiders.

AOC the starter next weekend.
Regarding O'Connell, I'm a fan and I think this is a step in the right direction. He just, IMO, looks the part of an NFL quarterback. While he doesn't have "it," he does have "something." Which is more than Minshew who I feel has "little" or "nothing."
Now, hopefully, they've got 12 games to figure out what that "something" is.
Knowing the Raiders, it's probably chlamydia.
Catching up in here and this made me actually laugh out loud. Thank you

Didn’t see a second of the game this week and it was nice. I don’t even think I’ll bother with any highlights. I stupidly took DA in the Fbg league. Maybe he’ll miraculously get better this week.

Harrowing thought No. 1,607 since Pierce took over: If they tank or swoon or, more likely, get coached into oblivion this season and manage a top 10 pick and get their "franchise" quarterback, how confident can you feel that kid reaches a fraction of his potential if Pierce and Getsy are still at the controls?
I'll see your 1,607 and raise it - what if AOC goes 7-5 to end the season? We end up 8-9 and drafting in the teens and "might" have our QB - do we trust a HC on year 2.5 to be willing to wipe the slate and go all in on a rookie QB? Do we get suckered again into thinking "maybe we already have the guy"? Are we right back where we were last May hoping Penix drops to us again? And THEN how confident can you feel that kid reaches a fraction of his potential if Pierce and Getsy are still at the controls?
AOC is ungood

Obviously, trading for Adams was a dumb decision. Adams had already made his business decision not to return to the crumbling Raiders this season so at least LV is getting something for him. Now, the Raiders need to lose a lot of games which shouldn’t be a challenge with the coaching staff and lack of player talent.

Do both of those conditions need to be met? Like the jets have to be in those games? If so, that’s a 3rd rounder. How stupid or he just hasn’t been released? 🤔

Meh. Michael Jordan bought the Charlotte Hornets. How'd that go. I think it's pretty meaningless. Brady just knows there's a huge cash register at the end of his transaction.

Either one, it is an OR not an AND

Root for the Jets to get to the AFC title game, or root for them to lose out, and get the best possible 3rd rounder.

If true, that is a great trade for the Raiders IMO.
I agree. I don't think Telesco could have played his hand any better. He didn't panic when reports said the best the Raiders could do was a 4 and, instead, as the old saying goes he "let the trade come to him."

Props to you, Mass...I think it was you who called this very scenario weeks ago.

Sometimes there is one play that can turn the tide of a game... On Sunday, before I turned off the game and walked away for the afternoon, I counted three key plays:

First:
(2:40) D.Laube right end to LV 28 for -2 yards (T.Watt). FUMBLES (T.Watt), RECOVERED by PIT-K.Benton at LV 30.

Second:
(1:19) (Shotgun) J.Fields pass short middle intended for G.Pickens INTERCEPTED by D.Deablo at LV 16. D.Deablo to LV 17 for 1 yard (D.Washington; G.Pickens).PENALTY on LV-M.Butler, Roughing the Passer, 12 yards, enforced at LV 24 - No Play.
Pittsburgh went on to score a TD on this drive.

Third:
(12:57) (Shotgun) A.O'Connell pass deep middle to B.Bowers to PIT 41 for 18 yards (M.Fitzpatrick) [T.Watt].PENALTY on LV-A.James, Offensive Holding, 10 yards, enforced at LV 41 - No Play.
3 plays later, the punt is blocked.

Also, while it seems early to start making excuses... here I am..

The Raiders this last week were without their QB1 (we haven't had one yet this year), WR1(Adams), WR2 (Meyer), TE2 (Mayer), RB1 (White - can argue he hasn't played like it), DT1 (Wilkins), DE2 (Koonce), S1 (Epps).... I'm sure I'm forgetting some...

Was nice to see Deablo out there making plays

He could go off with Rodgers feeding him and make 2nd team.

The only staff I am not happy with is Getsy. I have to believe he is gone after this season.... and we can go after better OC's. Kingsbury ditching us hurt real bad and put us in a position of picking from the island of misfit OC's.

The thing that kills me is that as bad as the offense was in Chicago, at least they got the running game going strong. Here, we can't run to save our life and that impacts the passing game severely.

Our defense is legit. We know this. We saw it. But we have been hammered with injury. Epps, Wilkins, Masterson, and Koonce all on IR. For those not on IR, the injury report list is extensive for both those playing through it (Maxx for example) and those that did not play (Eichenberg) another.

I think the scheme change for the Oline has been a disaster going to the wide zone. I think the talent level is better than what we have seen this year from them. We have weapons on offense. We are missing the QB and add in RB too.

Well, the Hornets roster was horrid and I am not sure how much of Jordan's game was cerebral where he could coach others up.

I saw a snippet the other day of RG3 talking about talking to Brady. He basically asked to be be his shadow in the off season so he could learn how he does things and how he studies film etc etc etc and Brady said "No, we are competitors" I think that Brady has a lot to offer specifically to a QB. You can't tell me.... with a serious look on your face.... that a young QB would not be better off for having access, mentorship, coaching etc from Brady. If you, sorry, I can't take anything you ever say seriously again.

Do we really need to wait until the season is done to fire Getsy? I know it's unlikely it is in season, but haven't we seen enough?
We do have Philbin, a proven OC in the past, on staff. Also, if I remember right, Bennett was getting some sniffs at potential OC jobs.

I don't know if he has the potential to be a good OC or not, but first focus on building the team and that starts with the GM on draft day and then making affordable trades and FA pickups to fill the holes. I think it starts with the trenches and in their case, the OL. Of course if they are picking high you have to get a QB, but you also can't set him up for failure by not protecting him. I've seen so many highly rated QBs fail because they weren't set up for success. I've seen their confidence shot because they are laying on their back 65 to 70 times a year. Anyway, I ramble. The point is, hiring and firing coaches all the time probably isn't a recipe for success, building the team is.

It is? We do? We did?

We want to believe this but I don't think we have seen much to suggest it is objectively true.

The offense is hurting them for certain but they still are doing much with their opportunities. They're really bad against the run and they don't force turnovers.

Also, no one is missing Luke Masterson.

I mean... I get being down and feeling like a repeatedly beaten dog but damn the "we suck, always will suck and sucky suck" gets wearing when it already sucks to watch the team.

Yea... I get it. We are losing games and this is the same song being sung for 20+ years but damn.

If I want that in my life, I can go to one of the Facebook Raider groups.

Our defense isn't good enough to withstand Minshew performance, losing Koonce and Epps for the season, Crosby and Wilkins and Deablo for a stretch.

You tell me which defenses are gonna look good under those circumstances.
I think the reason people are down on the defense is that it's beyond just not looking good and we (myself included) come up with excuses every year.

36 points in an absolutely embarrassing performance vs Carolina
34 points (27 if you take away the defensive TD) to Bo Nix who has looked lost vs everyone else
32 points against a poor Steelers offense

3 of the 6 teams that the Raiders have played have put up their season high point total.
Injuries have definitelty kileld them, but it's been even worse than I would have thought.

People are allowed to voice their opinion. That’s kind of the point of these things whether it makes you feel warm and fuzzy or not.
