Inglourious Basterds (1 Viewer)

Is it a comedy? Why is ******* spelled that way?
Tarantino being artsy, apparently:
A spokesman for the film's British publicists says, "We are not entirely sure the reasons why it has been changed. We think it just has to be one of those Tarantino-esque things. All we do know is that is definitely the title from now on."Tarantino is known for writing scripts with lots of misspellings, so maybe that's his way of separating himself from the 1978 "Inglorious Bastards" film.

Must be...why misspell both words like that unless it was him trying to be smarter than everyone in the room.Just puts me off a bit though...

I don't know. If the leaked script is anywhere near the reality this isn't going to be good. I like Tarantinos work mostly so I'll wait and see.

Holy crap! ******* is no longer filtered here? WHY WASN'T I INFORMED?!?!?!
Bart: So, any ideas where this ******* lives?Homer: Bart!Bart: What? His parents aren't married are they? It's a correct word isn't it?Homer: Well, he's got us there.Bart: (singing) *******, *******, *******, *******, *******, *******, *******, *******, *******!

If this was anybody other than Tarantino, I would expect this movie to be a commentary on the WOT and I would certainly skip it. Seeing as how QT doesn't normally do political commentary, I'll give it a shot.

Won't see it just based on intentional misspelling
On Wikipedia, they said that Brad Pitt's character, and the leader of the basterds, is supposed to be an illiterate hillbilly.
:unsure:Tarantino's been living off of Reservoir Dogs for too long.

This is incorrect.

Quentin Tarantino did American Idol right? Pretty sure he has jumped the shark and is a sellout like all the rest now.

A sellout? It's not like his earlier work is based on some artistic vision of unquestionable purity. He basically films tributes to cheesy schlock cinema.

I think Jackie Brown was very good. So that Reservoir Dogs comment makes no sense.

Based on Tarantino's recent work and word of mouth, I was planning on skipping this. But the trailer actually looks decent, kind of like Tarantino meets the Dirty Dozen. I'm in until someone gives me a reason to opt out.

Reservoir Dogs - Brilliant

Pulp Fiction - Brilliant

Jackie Brown - Average

Kill Bill (Vol. 1) - Brilliant

Kill Bill (Vol. 2) - Great

Death Proof - Horrible

Inglourious Basterds - TBD (Looks Awesome)

How many film-makers ever get ONE brilliant? I personally think he's off the hook for home runs but I'd like at least a stand up double out of this one. It's gotta be tough to start your career with the likes of True Romance, Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs (and be expected to keep rising).

Everything I've read says that the tone of the trailer is completely different than the tone of the movie.
