Interest Level For The National Championship Game - Ohio State vs Notre Dame (2 Viewers)

What's Your Interest Level from 0 (the least) to 5 (the most) in the National Championship Game?

I also broke my own rule asked the Shark Pool feeling on this. Wondering the interest level from people for this.
 
Pole stops at 1 and honestly, that may be where I'm at right now.

If all options were there, I suppose a "3" is more appropriate for me. I'll watch it tonight. Doubt my family will. I have money on Ohio State but I'm not rooting for them. Or Notre Dame. I find both teams tough to root for traditionally (though I do like Coach Freeman the more I see him).

Oregon losing in such disappointing and deflating fashion really hurt and took out a ton of my zest for the balance of these playoffs. That one still stings. The Ducks weren't even competitive. :(

Ive lived all over the world. I've been in the South for 4 years now. This is the only area where college football reigns supreme. Like more popular then NFL. It's crazy. I started box score surfing to prove I'm a man. The answer to your question for me is zero interest. I'll box score surf in morning while my coffee is brewing.
 
Accidentally voted 1 when I meant to pick 2.

I'll turn it on if it's still close after we finish dinner. I may lose my FBG card but I would have been more inclined to watch if the halftime act was someone other than Travis Scott.
 
More interest in the Championship Game than any year prior; simply because of the playoffs. Aside for maybe the seating order; I thought they were cool and made me more of a fan of college football.
 
Went with 2. I say this for a few reasons:

1. The NFL playoffs are appointment viewing for me and, in order to balance family life and work, I need to draw a line somewhere.
2. I don't like either teams in the final. I mean, it's basically the equivalent of the Yankees and Red Sox. If the final had ASU playing (my wife's alma mater) or more likeable/non-powerhouse teams (Boise St., SMU) I'd be more interested.
3. I think the NFL is a far superior product. Every time I watch college football, I just find myself wishing it was the NFL with the superior play.

Due to the above, I'll probably turn it on if my wife and kids aren't around me and I'll probably monitor the score on my phone. So, went with 2.

I'm mainly hate-watching to root against ND. But honestly, I've already lost by having them in the championship game in the first place. Cap tip to the Irish.
 
Looking forward to the game. I think it will be a lot closer than Vegas thinks.

Not my college. Not my interest outside of a- oh, who won?

(My college will never ever go to any bowls, so my interest in college football is practically null)

Grew up in the South, and went to an SEC powerhouse, but never liked college athletics. Now in HI, people care much more about high school sports, which is even worse.

I prefer watching professional athletes, so I won't even check the box score. Nor do any surfing, for that matter.

Yup. I moved to the south about 17 years ago. Was surprised about college football being more 'important' than the NFL.

Now that college athletes get paid, aren't they considered 'professional' now? Honest question.

ETA I know college athletes have been getting paid for decades and decades, but I meant now it is 'on the books' as it were.
 
Voted 3. Maybe should have voted 2. I mean....its on...and because its on, there's no decent college hoops on. So I guess I'll watch at least the beginning.

Being from the northeast, the college football culture just isn't part of my life. I dont even love watching NFL games all that much (my team sucks and the officiating is crap) and college football is a far inferior product to me. Yeah, there's wide open game play and big plays, but so many of them are due to just horrendous defense.

I'm kinda ambivalent on the playoff format. I generally hate what the $$$ greed of college football did to college hoops (with the conferences getting all screwed up) and making EVEN MORE money is all this playoff is about. I guess its ok that one loss doesn't knock you out of contention anymore, but the idea that the college football national champ might have a home loss to Northern Illinois on their resume would be a tough pill to swallow (although I dont think it comes to that, as I expect OSU to win somewhat handily tonight)
 
Voted 2. College football has NOWHERE near the same amount of interest as the NFL has overseas. I'm mildly interested for dynasty purposes, but will not be watching the game (1am here lol) and as I have no vested interest in either team in the same way I would have regardless of which teams are playing in a Super Bowl, it's little more than "well I'll check the score in the morning and be done with it"
 
Going with 4.

Been a Michigan fan my whole life so that W over Ohio State was the Super Bowl for me. Grew up in Chicago so I never had the hate for ND that most Wolverines fans fans do.

Took ND +8.5 and another parlay at ND +7.5, OSU winning the first half and over 51.5.

Lets make it a good game at least…
 
I voted 1 because I really don't care about college football. I may at some point flip over to watch a few mins of it but that will be it. I only care enough to see the score if it comes up in conversation tomorrow at work.
 
My favorite team is in every game. Probably the team that makes the least mistakes, but gets complained about the most. The complainers typically do not know the rules/philosophies.
 
My iPhone calendar keeps rubbing it in these past couple of days with phantom reminders for flights to Atlanta that I cancelled on 1/1. And seeing what tickets are going for and knowing I had two extra if UO got there doesn’t help (although these two teams probably maximize resale value).

So essentially hate watching, finding it hard to root for either of these teams. But I’m a college football fan, more so than NFL, so of course am watching. Sure avoided all of the pregame hype and shows though.

Good point. I don’t pay enough attention to the NCAA to know. Do they earn a salary, or are they just eligible for commercial endorsements?

What I should have said is, I prefer watching the best athletes compete at their sport. Regardless of pay, college football participants ain’t NFL players.

Just look at the spread on the contest, it wasn't close, nor was the game. Don't kid yourself ND fans, that little flurry was nothing more than a commercial break.

And no, the "climatic" ending was anything but...the game was over early in the 2nd quarter. The line of scrimmage disparity was glaring. A complete cakewalk.

Congrats OSU fans, good for you, but that was a foregone conclusion. So yeah, to answer the question, not interesting in the least.
 
The FG doink hurt ND for sure. If that was made along with the following TD it would have been really interesting at the end. It did get a little interesting but little doubt they wouldn't be able to come all the way back.

Basically, yeah. I watch TV in bed and had at least one dog curled up next to me and have been fighting off allergies so I was definitely gonna fall asleep!

For me it's like clockwork. TV on, in the recliner, fall asleep for about 15 minutes somewhere between 8 and 9, then I'm good again until midnight.
 
The extent of my interest stretches to seeing how well Q Judkins and J Love do at RB for their respective teams. This would include checking the box score, maybe watching a highlight of some of their plays, and maybe even checking for an analysis of their effect on draft status. No interest in actually watching it.

Long winded version of how did my two NFL FF developmental players do in the game?
 
Never really watched college football growing up in Virginia. Redskin country, but I became a Cowboys fan. Moved to South Carolina ten years ago and cannot believe the crazy college football fans between Clemson, South Carolina and Georgia. I voted a one only because I watched a few highlights this morning and checked the box score on Judkins, Henderson and Egubka for rookie dynasty drafts.
