Irv Farve (1 Viewer)

I’m not a Packer fan. Nor am I a Farve owner. But I have always respected Farve. I love to watch him play when he has one of those great games. He just exudes bloody lip toughness. But if he plays after the death of his father, and wins, it will propel him into the stuff legends are made of.I hope he plays and throws four touchdowns to win it and then thanks his father and everybody cries. America needs heroes.
I too greatly respect Favre, and I feel for him and his family... I have just recently lost both of my grandfathers, and Im sure many here have lost people close to them...However, having said that I feel that to call Favre a hero if he plays as you have indicated is a bit of a stretch... I would call Brett a role-model, even a champion to America, but would prefer to keep my definition of hero to the following:
I agree. The servicemen in Iraq are heroes, and so are the firefighters etc. that saved thousands of lives in the WTC bombing.Favre is not a hero, nor will he be one if he plays tonight.Favre is one hell of a human being, one hell of a hall of fame QB, and one hell of a team player. He is looked up to by many, and looks down on no one.Irv was Bretts hero, and there's nothing wrong with a son thinking of his dad as a hero. I do understand what Dozer was saying tho.........

We all have our own opinion of what a 'hero' is. Some say it should be restricted to someone who has risked their own life; others say its:5: a large sandwich made of a long crusty roll split lengthwise and filled with meats and cheese (and tomato and onion and lettuce and condiments); different names are used in different sections of the United States [syn: bomber, grinder, hero sandwich, hoagie, hoagy, Cuban sandwich, Italian sandwich, poor boy, sub, submarine, submarine sandwich, torpedo, wedge, zep]ok ok ....enough of the 'hero' definition and my poor attempt at humor. Let's get back to more important things....like ripping on Matrix. Also, any Raider fans on this board going to the game tonight? How are you going to react when Favre takes the field? I'll be watching the game tonight, but it'd be interesting to hear about the sentiment in the stands from someone who will actually be at the game. Raider fans can't be THAT bad can they?

I think Raider fans can be that bad. My expectation of their behavior is not particularly high tonight.

Really!?I'll try to give them the benefit of the doubt...until we can get some kind of feel during the broadcast tonight.I should've asked too....any Packer fans going to the game tonight?

Hero - argue semantics all you want, but Favre taking the field is not "heroic" - courageous, yes, but not "heroic"On the Raider fans - you all are nuts - if he takes the field, it will be to resounding cheers from the Raider faithful. After the kickoff, however . . .
