Is anyone besides me completely unmotivated about FF right now? (1 Viewer)

I think long-time participants go through phases. I know two seasons ago I was felling burnt out.

My solution was to significantly ratchet back the number of leagues I participated in and see if that helped. It did. I felt re-energized and engaged in all my leagues. Combine that with the hyper exciting offseason last year (once the lockout ended), and I was back full throttle.

There's no rule that says you have to stay as fired up about FF or anything in life as you were at your peak. At the end of the day this is a hobby and a source of entertainment. If it's not making you happy, by all means take a break from it. You know FF will be here waiting when you're ready to roll again.

some of us are ninja ff asasins who destroy our leagues year in and out and some of us are you i guess but hey the world needs yous too so keep on keepin on and take it to the last place bank if there is such a thing
If you destroy your leagues as thoroughly and completely as you destroy the English language, then you're in good shape. This post was shock & awe.

It's peaked, gb. Some of us are just the spray from the next big wave.

I saw my fantasy mojo on a milk carton this morning. I'm sure it will return as the draft draws closer...

that's bath salt talk!
I have no clue what this means.
What he means is that sounds like wife speak I mean if you are truly over ff why visit a ff message board?
My wife was kinda mad at me last year when I finally got rid of my last team. I had a buddy take it over, and my wife was miffed at me for not giving her the option to take over my team first. I guess she wasn't burned out like I am. Regardless, I still enjoy reading about it, but have no desire to play. I also for some reason (having nothing at stake I guess) think I have a lot better feel for which members know wth they are talking about, and which are full of beans. This info may help me if I ever decide to get back into the hobby.

Nothing unique about this year. There's a thread like this every summer.
Bingo. I used to be gung ho year-round. Then I looked at the time it was taking, and got down to 2 leagues several years back.Still, the mojo returns later each year. That said, fantasy football ain't rocket surgery. I've found that the curve of diminishing return on preparation starts way low. That is, I used to put ten times more time into preparation, and not know a whit more. Paying attention to the breaking news and going with one's gut are all most owners need. The geekdom involved in FF is all about predicting the future, which is impossible. The less I'm invested in off-season projections, the better I am at making in-season adjustments, especially early on. /heresy

Just a few more weeks... then it's footballguys contest time! that surely will bring you back around.

Else you are entering your dark hibernation period... give it 3-4 years at a minimal distance, and the sparks will rekindle if you find a good local group of people to get back into things.

I am as well. Hoping it's just the calm before the storm. There isn't really a whole lot worth talking about at this point in the offseason. The same conversations have been played out too many times on this board.

I also think the amount of "experts" out there are starting to detract from the fun. There are so many site rankings on players and they all mirror each other so much that player value seems less subjective these days. Off season trading has slowed down in my leagues over the years.

Once the games start up again, I'll be back in full force as always. However I've been less and less interested in the offseasons as the years go by.
