Is Mike James better than Doug Martin? (1 Viewer)

I think Doug Martin is a very good player. He's not elite though. People overreacted to last seasons success. He wasn't really any better than Trent Richardson this season. Quite A disappointment in fact. But Richardson is roundly lambasted as a flop whereas Martin gets a pass despite being in the same system as last year. Richardson is on his third system I believe already. And was roundly considered a better prospect than Martin.
I would still rather have martin on my team in a redraft. At least you wouldn't be fooled into trotting out a pile of garbage in your fantasy lineup.

Was it ankle injury or knee?
Initial reports/speculation said knee or lower leg, then it was updated to ankle. Safe to assume the later unless later reports say otherwise.

Can we now change the title to "Is Brian Leonard better than Doug Martin"?

Richardson is getting branded as a flop due to his lack of explosiveness. Martin does not have that problem and really only had down games this season against ARZ and NYJ, both very good rush defenses. Here are the top 4 players from 2012 with rushing plays over (20yds) and (40 yds):

1. Peterson (27) (8)

2. Spiller (12) (5)

3. Martin (11) (5)

4. Charles (11) (5)

Martin has elite vision and explosiveness although he probably won't be drafted as a top 5 RB next year. Same goes for Spiller.

Richardson is not in the same league, although nobody thought that in the 2012 draft, and has zero runs over 20 yds this season.

Unpack this for me.

Martin was averaging almost a full YPC more than Richardson and has almost twice as many yards in roughly half as many games. He eclipsed 4ypc in 4 out 6 games whereas Richardson has eclipsed 4ypc in 0 out of 10.
