It appears that the decline has begun, yes.
That said, I'd take a chance that I'm wrong and try to buy low, but his owner is ultra-conservative.

Well, I think you're right that you're unlikely to get reasonable value for him in trade. Marx would say that his use-value is higher than his exchange value.

Redraft .5 ppr league I was offered Lacey & Forsett for Calvin & Ivory. I accepted. My first year owning Calvin and man its been frustrating. The whole offense is bad to watch. I'm sure adjustments will be made and Calvin might get back to his usual bad #### self but I needed RBs in this league. fwiw

Probably because Bell is typically outscoring both of those guys combined while taking up only one spot in his starting lineup.
And that was without the potential of Randle losing work to Christine Michael, which has at least become a possibility going forward.

I did a similar deal last week, traded Calvin and Randle for Antonio Brown.

I'm not so sure. Stafford missed him twice when he was wide open after beating his man for big gains (one could have been a TD) and came within a foot of scoring in the last game.
I think people are throwing dirt on this guy way too early. He's 30. Stafford is the one that looks like a shell of himself.
Even if this is the case and Johnson is playing like he's 22, the end result is the same.

End result won't be the same once they get through this brutal first-half schedule. Bears, Vikings, Chiefs, Packers, Raiders coming up after this Arizona game. Big games are coming.

Situations change, and sometimes for the better. A player that is in decline (if true) usually doesn't change for the better.
I'm saying that both Stafford and Johnson are in decline. And will stay beaten down in this ####e offense.

I'm struggling with this one a bit. I have had Calvin on the team for quite some time. He's been good to me.
But I do think he'll improve as the season goes on. Those writing him off are just wrong, IMO. Same folks who wrote off Brady last year. The talent is still there. The OL is lacking, and that makes it hard for him to get the same kind of numbers consistently. I don't think he'll be a top-5 WR going forward, but I do think he has some really good years left in him. And I bet he would pup up top-5 numbers in, say, the Pats offense.
But I have been flirting with trying to trade him (and 2d tier WR) for Brown or Dez for the upside.

I think you will regret this. That is pretty decent value and Fitz probably gives you about the same numbers IMO.

I'm trying to move Calvin and his 1 year left for 2 contract years of Edelman (our league is a contract league, not NFL contracts) but the other owner is really high on Edelman. I hope the numbers get better for Calvin after these first four tough weeks but I'm not really optimistic about it.
I ended up winning my league last year after those moves, and am currently 4-0 and 20 points ahead of 2nd place despite having Lamar and CJA as my rbs going in and having a clunker week 4....scored 211 points week 3 and 89 week 4. Anyway, I've won 13 games in a row since selling Calvin last Novemeber.
Starting to lose patience the Lions are ever going to pull their head out of their #### and use Calvin like they should. Thinking of taking an offer of Lacy straight across for Calvin. Just can't take the frustration any longer. I also wouldn't have to watch that train wreck of team play any longer.
I know I should but I just keep holding out hope that the old Calvin will come back. You know, the one who could win you weeks by himself. Where did that Calvin go? Is he too old to produce like that any longer?
If you're hoping to avoid week after week of a highly talented player being underutilized and not given TD opportunities, trading for Lacy is not your best move.
That said, take that trade!

I traded him a week ago for Brandon Marshall in a 1 point PPR redraft. The name "Megatron" still carriers a lot of weight.

Sell high (dynasty) has past IMO but he's still got plenty left.

If what you say in your last sentence is correct, I think you're probably better off waiting until he strings a few weeks together before selling in dynasty if you're trying to capture the short term high.
