Was offered Charles Clay for him. I think it was a serious offer. Based on that, his value is pretty low. He's got some tough games coming up, along with some easier ones. The worst part of his schedule is over though. I'm definitely going to ride this one out.

I thought about selling him and going in a different direction. I wasn't trying to capitalize on any particular thing. I am just tired of having to have an interest in anything Jim Caldwell is a part of.
But when I looked at it closer I saw that even on these weeks where we think of Calvin being ignored and completely misused and seriously underperformed, he still put up 10 or so in ppr. If that is about the worst you can get out of Calvin, that's still pretty valuable. So I hold and just don't bother to watch the games and when I see the box score, I'll hope it was a "good Calvin" day.

Early this week in a .5 PPR redraft, Calvin was traded away in return for Demaryius Thomas + Carlos Hyde (pretty sure before Hyde came out saying he has a foot bone stress fracture). Knowing the owner who acquired Calvin, his extreme concern about Peyton far outweighs the fact that he also hates Jim Caldwell, LOL.

To the other trade with Gurley for Calvin. In redraft or dynasty I would add to Calvin to get Gurley.

Agreed. And also I think Cooks is a bust and Watkins can't stay healthy so I prefer 1-3 more years of Calvin Johnson to those guys. If we are talking brand new start up where you keep everyone forever then I agree. I think it depends more on your window for winning. If in rebuild mode take Watkins but if winning over the next 1-3 years then I would take Calvin

It isn't in these quotes, but I believe my exact quote was if we did a start up dynasty draft right now. Calvin and Watkins would go in the same round and I would personally take Watkins.

Oh got it. Sorry must have missed it. I agree in a dynasty start up yes that makes sense because most will value Watkins for another decade vs Calvin for another few years as better. I still worry about the injury risk with Watkins. I guess what I am saying is that while they may go in the same round, it may be a mistake because Calvin Johnson is a top WR for the next couple of years still and Watkins has a terrible QB and a spotty record staying on the field.

The perceived value of Calvin Johnson isn't what it used to be from two years ago and before that, so yes, now is the time to sell Calvin Johnson in dynasty leagues if you can get decent value. The problem with that is that Johnson owners still think of him from 2013 going backwards when his value started to dip last year. I think Calvin Johnson dynasty owners have to be realistic on his value if they want to move him. Getting a late 2016 1st rd rookie pick is fair value for Calvin Johnson.

Sad when 80+ yards per game is considered a bad year. Especially when three of those games were against top 5 pass defenses. Calvin is only 30 years old. You'll get at least 2 more years of elite production followed with consistent WR2 production for as long as he wants to play. Why would you trade that for a lottery ticket?

That may be fair value but no way I trade Calvin for a late rookie pick. That's like getting the 3rd best rookie WR. I'd rather try and win now and take my chances with more of a proven entity.

The time to trade him was last year like a lot us were trying to tell owners in this thread. He's not a player you build a dynasty team around anymore. He wasn't last year either but most people didn't know that yet.

It's all about the O-line. We saw last week that the Lions are more than willing to chuck it deep to Calvin when they have the time.
The question is whether the Lions line is legitimately improving or if the Bears just made them look good. Tomorrow they play the Vikings, a team they've already seen (and sucked against) so that should be a good measuring stick.

Apparently he's not in the building today (no official source, but radio talking heads are saying this), something that is very rare for him. He was injured last game, so not surprising he wouldn't be practicing. But he should be getting treatment.
He's still got value. Could something be going down?

I traded a 1st for both earlier this year before Martin had his big breakout game of the season. I don't really care if these guys only have a few years left. I don't look any further than that. The NFL changes too fast to look too far diwn the road.

Maybe fair market value - but what's the incentive to move him what is still a longshot type pick? I guess if my team was really bad and wasn't competing anytime soon I'd consider it, but Calvin is still only barely 30 years old, he has plenty of solid years left.

If you have Calvin, you are selling very light if you get a projected late 2016 1st.
Now, if you get the 1st from a 1-7 team who is basically guaranteed a top 2-3 pick, then yes I can see that.
Many, many, MANY people overvalue Calvin right now based on this thread, and I imagine the general FF population values CJ even higher than most do in this thread.
