I'm not a fan of RUSH..  Shocking isn't it..  I knew a boy in H.S. who was like their Greatest fan.  He chuckled when I said that I didn't like them..  Ive never really tried to listen to them   Ive never really bought much music..

Bands are like religion. Not everyone likes the same things.

I like the angle KC..  Intentionally or not..  I'm pretty sure one can like most any Music, given enough exposure..  Could just be meeting, and interacting w/ one of the musicians.  Star struck fan..

Let's expand this a little further. 

If a child was only allowed to listen to one band his/her entire life, would they be more or less apt to like only that one band? Would they reject other bands as being wrong or unworthy of listening to?

What would happen if that same child was allowed to listen to every band, from every genre? Would they find that all bands have something to offer? Perhaps realizing that none is perfect. They all have some good songs and some bad songs.
