This year I have been assisting a league member with drop/adds and setting his lineup. I only have put pickups and lineups in the computer for him because he does not own a computer. He calls me for any transactions or lineup choices he makes. This league member is our commish's cousin. While on the phone with him a few weeks ago he said " ALL I want to do is beat my A hole cousins but when we play". They were set to play each other last week. Last week on the day our waiver wire runs I sent him a text that said " U said you wanted to beat your A hole cousin, so make some moves", never once did I say who or what to pick up. He picked up Rhodes that night and went on to beat his A hole cousin. now our commish(A hole cousin) is mad at me saying I'm shady. I told him he was a baby and what I did was not wrong. I wanted to post this to get your thoughts on this topic. I am curious what you all think. I never gave the kid ANY names he knew to pick up Rhodes(He's not a moron). sour grapes if you ask me. THanks in advance.

One other note to this story: I didn't even put this pick in for the kid. He went to his cousins house and put the pick in on the commish's computer!

Rhodes was not even a deciding factor in the game! He benched L. White to start him!

Sore loser. He sounds like the type that would have rubbed it in his cousin's face if he had won. You gave friendly advice, nothing more.

Your commish is a tool. You're boarding on being a tool by caring what he thinks. This is a non-issue. Don't waste your time making it one.

A-dvice and A-holes are alot alike...everyones got one (some?)...

Anyways...I often make recommendations to league mates about managing their teams at the water cooler (virtual and otherwise). I say "your WR suck, why do you keep that guy?...go pick up X." Sometimes they do it, sometimes they don't. Sometimes my advice is good, sometimes it's bad. I usually intend it to be good.

I think you can give as much advice as you want to managers, esp if they are new, still learning, not able to keep up with news, whatever. Your advice can always swing the other way, it's up to them to take it or leave it.

So EVEN if you were competing with Cousin Ahole for first place, and you gave his opponent this week some sweet sleeper advice that helped him win...then GOOD ON YA! How could THAT even be unethical?

I think if I said "I'll trade you Brian Westbrook for a week so you can beat Cousin Ahole and get me into the championships..." that's clearly collusion. But otherwise, it's just advice.

As we say at another forum...

Walk over to his house, knock on his door, punch him in the face in front of his wife & kids (or gf/parents as the case may be).

I don't see how it would be wrong even if you were telling him what moves to make, if you aren't in the league yourself.

Are owners not allowed to seek others' opinions?

:lmao: I was about to post the same thing. Even if you told him exactly who he "should" pick up, there's nothing wrong with it.

Telling him to get someone = nothing wrong

Telling him to get Rhodes = grey area

Grabbing Rhodes for him (without his knowledge) = wrong

You did nothing wrong.

I voted for all options because I can.

Are you worried that the commish is going to fire you from your "putting in moves for another guy" position? He should. What you did is reprehensible. It compromises the competitive integrity of the whole league! Next you're going to tell me that GMs should be able to consult the internets and the googles, too.

Personally, I have a no meddling policy. But I don't think what you did is unethical, and your commish seems like a baby. Good luck. :coffee:

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that the cousin doesn't have a computer.

a) Who is this guy, the Unabomber? Who doesn't have a computer?

b) Tell your commish to point to the shirt

c) Don't help anymore, for anyone, under any circumstance.

d) Find a league that isn't wrapped up in family politics and/or

won't put you in a position to get wrapped up in politics.

I kind of agree here. But maybe it's money issues. If that's the case, public libraries come equiped with computers and internet connections, and they're free. You should tell the cousin to handle his own business going forward to avoid this whole thing.

People can be the biggest babies when it comes to fantasy football.

I joined this local league this year that I found on the internet. I wanted to play in it because I enjoy actually knowing the people I play with as opposed to an internet only league. I play in a neighborhood league and one from work and a couple online.

Anyways this league has a shallow bench, 4 guys. The rules, which are incomplete, state a team will not play w/ an illegal roster that's all. Wk 1 a team played w/o a PK because he forgot to draft one. Rhodes was on the ww and I have a good team, so I was like, let me pick him up and drop my PK and play w/o a PK. Did so. Babies in the league complain, Commish gets together with deputy commish and they have a unanimous vote to force me to forfeit the game.

Really not a big deal for me since I was 6-0 at the time but hopeing ultimately giving a free win to the other team will effect the playoff race negatively. Can't wait, 2 more wins and I clinch my division, which is the only way to win $$ outside of the playoffs, then I am really going to screw with them.

Anyone have a live league in the Tampa/St Pete area?

GO RAYS!!

While helping other leaguemates with advice can be considered shady by that leaguemates' opponent, it is not unethical.

If you turned one of your leaguemates on to FBG.com and not the others, is that unethical?

You did nothing wrong. I sure do miss being 12 though...

You are both whiny, disrespectful people (since you had to resort to name calling). He is in the wrong about your being shady, though.

Every time I read a story like this one, I thank all that is holy that I have good commissioners in every league I am in.
