Javon Walker found unconscious off LV strip (1 Viewer)

I am the first to say we are too hard on football players for how they live in the off season (Like the Leinhart story), however, I do not see how anyone can stick up for Walker's actions here. When the coach is saying he is not in football shape, that means he is probably way the hell out of shape, cause coaches (Unless it is Parcells) always try to put a positive spin on stuff. So here you have a player that was just GIVEN a $55 million dollar contact that he didn't deserve (in mho it should have been chock-full of incentives so he would at least have to play to earn it), and this fool who is being outplayed by just about every wr'er in camp is out doing this instead of trying to prove the team made a good investment. I have no sympathy for him, I hope this does allow the Raiders to get out of this contact and dump this jerk-off. I hated this move from the start and everything I thought was wrong with it, Walker is proving to be true. I bet Shanahan is home laughing his ### off and thinking he got the Raiders again. After the past 5 years of sucking after Callahan choked away a Super bowl, I keep hoping the Raiders will do the right thing, but until Al Davis dies, we will continue to suck and make stupid choices when it comes to player personnel.

Still that sounds a lot like "she was asking for it by wearing a skirt". I don't really like Javon and he does seem like a dbag, but he's a victim here. Doing something stupid doesn't mean you deserve to get beat up and robbed.
If you're as rich as Javon, you're a target. It's unfortunate that this happenned and I wish Javon well, but hopefully he and others in the NFL can learn from his mistake.

MVN.com story on Walker

The story is a combination of information and speculation for what that's worth ----- speculation about the extent of Walker's injuries and information about what those injuries may mean.

The reports on the extent of Javon Walker’s injuries have been sketchy at best. He was found unconscious according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Jason Jones reports that he has an orbital fracture. Since he was unconscious, it is likely there is a concussion involved, especially coupled with an orbital fracture, which is a broken eye socket. Neither of these bode well for Walker’s NFL future, but lets take an in depth look in what exactly those injuries are.

An orbital fracture is a serious injury in that it means that the bones of the eye socket are fractured. This was the very injury that ended Minnesota Twins Hall of Fame outfielder Kirby Puckett’s career. What exactly does this mean for Javon?

The following is excerpted from emedicne.com:

Orbital floor fractures may result when a blunt object, which is of equal or greater diameter than the orbital aperture, strikes the eye. The globe usually does not rupture, and the resultant force is transmitted throughout the orbit causing a fracture of the orbital floor.

Translation: This is caused by being hit in the face with something bigger than the eye socket, which would cause the bones to break. (OUCH!)

It continues: “A complete ocular evaluation is essential to ensure that no injury to the globe or optic nerve has occurred.”

Translation: They have to check his eyes to see whether the eyeball (globe) or the nerves that translate the information from the eyes to the brain are damaged.

Just talked to my boy, a bartender at Body English. He was working last night. His story:Javon and Floyd Mayweather both had tables, and got into a bidding war, buying champagne. According to him Javon bought over 30 bottles of Dom, and Floyd won, buying around 50 bottles of Cristal. When Floyd won, he then made it rain, throwing stacks of money off the balcony (The VIP tables are on a mezzanine overlooking the dance floor. Javon was on one side, and Floyd on the other). The rumor making the rounds among the staff there is that someone in Mayweather's crew jacked up Walker.
Massraider, when are you going to stop budding in here? From the start you have been wrong...... Stop talking please. I dont care how many boys you have who work at body english, you were wrong for questioning me about Javon. Please stop posting here. You have no credibility. Thanks for coming.

you've got quite a future here

aka He got knocked the f out :(

Is this true?He must be involved in something really bad. Williams died in his arms yes/no?This isn't funny, would like to see a link but I bleieve the OP for now.
Not to say i told you so but.................. where is the guy that didnt believe me when i posted he likes to spray champagne in vegas?????????????????? And how about the other guy who said his partying didnt have anything to do with his fantasy future?????????? TOLD YOU SO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh yea, its in the Javon Walker Dynasty value thread.
He got jumped after leaving the Hard Rock Hotel after the club. Rumor is he was jumped walking alone on Koval Ln. Never like to hear that though. Hope he is OK.
orbital fractures are usually associated with being punched really hard in the eye. good times.

Id be pretty pissed if someone sprayed champagne all over me and ruined my fancy expensive club clothes.
:moneybag: ****Rumor**** Sports talk radio in Denver this morning reporting that Javon was spraying champagne the night Darent Williams was killed also. Apparently some of the gang thugs were none to happy with Javon and his champagne antics and it escalated into the open fire on the limo that killed Williams. My take: Javon appears to have the disease known as alcoholism. I hope he gets help.

Javon was a free agent. Shanahan did not get anybody. I'm sure Shanny's main concern is for the welfare of his former player.

As a Raider fan, I'm truly p.o. This guy simply has to be more mature than this, what a poor decision. Partying like a damn fool then walking the backstreets in Vegas, probably with 'bling' draped all over him.......Spraying Dom or 'Cris' in the air is so tired....It's not like this guy is 21 or 22 yrs old......I was optimistic upon his signing amongst all the doubters, but this is not the start I envisioned for this guy, especially hearing that he really hasn't been in the best of shape thus far in the offseason. Now this.....it certainly will not enhance his conditioning.
I'm playing devil's advecote in here...but when is a person with a lot of money under 30 not supposed to have fun? Are people supposed to just act like they have a blue collar job when in reality they don't. These guys make millions of dollars, what do you expect from them?
How about a little maturity?

That wouldnt surprise me one bit...Mayweather and his circus of buddies are A+ a-holes.I seen them at an after party in AC a few years ago trash a party hosted by FunkMaster Flex.... it started when Floyd's crew attacked two uniformed police officers...(one was a female)That started a brawl for about a half hour until the swat team got there....Monday morning , they were still cleaning the blood stains off walls and carpets......and it was all because a bouncer would not let a 17 year old member of Maywearthers group get into the 21 + event.Even before that they were walking around acting like punks...

30 is the new 20. :lmao:

There's a whole lot of just world hypothesis going on in this thread. How about showing a little compassion and empathy for the victim of a violent assault?

From what I've seen in this thread, based on my amateur medical opinion, I think JW will be extremely lucky if he doesn't miss the entire 2008 season due to this injury. Even if he is fortunate and recovers quickly, his knee is still a significant concern. He's officially off my draft board.

I wish him the best of luck on his recovery.

Oh please, don't come on here acting like Javon was the victim of some random act of violence. I'm sure his behavior and personal choices that night somehow played a part in the end result.

Just because he was stupid doesn't mean he deserved it.

another note. when the the shooting happened here in Denver, Javon was really messed up mentally. the shooting happened right in front of him and he held Williams when he was dead. He couldn't talk about it for something like six months, and even then he struggled. Now, he is robbed (beaten down). yet another extreme event to mess with him mentally. Regardless of how bad his injury is, I bet the mental part will mess him up more than anything. He doesn't seem like the Strong personalty type that can recover from this (not an insult, just an observation) I don't mean strong personality as far as outgoing, I mean mentaly tough.

fantasy wise, I wouldn't count on him for anything, regardless if he is healed or not. I could see him falling apart IMO.

Well, I guess I'm not as charitable as you wonderful people are. I can live with that.

1. I don't think we'll ever really know the full story on this one.

2. Dude's been in too many "wrong place, wrong time" events.

3. Karma's a biotch. So glad Denver cut his malcontented butt.

4. Even happier the Raiders picked him up and overpaid him. Good luck with that.

5. I believe his behavior contributed to this. No, I do NOT believe this is as random mugging. Yes, this is speculation. Again, see #2. See the story. Lots of rich people party in Vegas. Darn few have this happen to them.

6. Yes, I think the press is too intrusive on athletes. I think the whole Leinhart thing was absolutely ridiculous. Having said that, I believe this guy is bad news. I don't like him. Guy has shown repeatedly to be a "me first" malcontent and the whole Darrent Wiliams thing stinks too.

7. Would not be surprised if somebody dropped him out of a car at that location. I've done that trip from the HR. That's a hell of a jaunt. Drunk or not, wouldn't be suprised if they picked him up, popped him a couple, robbed him (or not) and then dumped him.

8. Again, I don't think we'll ever know the full story here. That's only going to add to the speculation. But something's fishy.

A drunk walking alone is a target in any town. The bigger the town the more dangerous it is. Partying is one thing, being stupid is another. I will say this, at least he wasn't driving.

Charitable? That's a new word for it. You people that sit in judgement of other people(like Rush Limbaugh) and pass judgement without knowing the facts are :X He deserves what he got? Nice. That's just about the most ignorant thing I ever heard.

First of all......... Im sorry for my STUPID posts last night. I owe an apology to massraider. I was Javon Walker DRUNK last night while posting so im sorry for coming at you how i did. From now on i will conduct myself in the right way here. I have been reading these boards for almost a year now before joining and i thinks its the best board around. That being said................ I do know pretty much the whole story here. I cant say how i know this for certain reasons but this was not Javon's fault at all. This had nothing to do with Floyd Mayweather either. This didnt happen at the club, and it didnt happen at the hard rock either. It happend far away from there. It happend while Javon was alone far from the club or the hard rock. That alone should tell you it was unrelated to anything that happend in the club that night. He was by himself for a reason. I'll leave it at that guys. Sorry i cant give you guys more but if you put 2 and 2 together you can understand. Once again, sorry massraider. Oh and see number 7 on the list above, thats right on.

 That's an interesting term. I think you've hit the nail on the head here.I don't think any of us can conclude much about who deserved what until we get some more information.

The just-world phenomenon, also called the just-world theory, just-world fallacy, just-world effect, or just-world hypothesis, refers to the tendency for people to want to believe that the world is "just" so strongly that when they witness an otherwise inexplicable injustice they will rationalize it by searching for things that the victim might have done to deserve it.

Sound like you are in Vegas and have inside knowledge on all this. Why are you posting here on a board last night and today rather than giving a statement to the police? Or did you do that already?Wait... are you the perp?? (I love using that word. Makes me feel kinda tough. )

I never said he got what he deserved, it's just hard to feel sorry for someone that chooses to act a certain way.Really, I hope he fully recovers and learns from the incident. But some of you are acting like the headline reads "Javon Walker assaulted last night while sleeping peacefully at his home"

Like I said on the dynasty thread, If you're overweight, overpaid and underperforming in your OTA's with your brand new team - AND you're partying until after 6 a.m. in Vegas a month before training camp, that's got to tell you a lot about this guy's work ethic, maturity, selfishness and intelligence.

Throw away all other speculation, all other previous incidents, and this alone is pretty damning.

There's a reason nobody was willing to even throw away a late rounder on this guy.

Take out the proverbial fork and stick him; he’s done. Had some hopes that he would turn his career around. Was looking fwd to the Denver game hype.

I’m assuming he will be IRd for the year and career over.

 So you don't feel bad for him because he acts like a lot a single young guys by hanging out in clubs? It's not like this guy's Pac Man Jones, in fact he's far from it.

What you are basically saying is that Javon was looking for a hooker and/or drugs when he was robbed and beaten? Not sure how else one could read between the lines of what you're saying.

We know very little about the events of that night, the only thing we know for sure is he bought a lot of champagne, and sprayed it. That action alone is enough for you to piece together the truth that he wasn't the victim of a randomless crime, and not worthy of any sympathy?Really?Impressive.

Setting the bar a little low aren't we? "Not PacMan" is the key standard now?? Geez. As for "a lot of single young guys": A LOT of single young guys haven't just been given their 3rd (and last) chance, paid 60 Million dollars by their employer when nobody else in the league would even give up a late round pick on the guy. A LOT of single young guys in that situation aren't already overweight, coming off injury, a disastrous last season, and already underperforming in his savior-teams' OTA's. Javon Was. AND - He's a month away from training camp. Look, I go out. I can't afford to go out like he does, but I go out. BUT - In this situation - this SAME situation, there's absolutely NO reason to be partying till 6 in the morning - Vegas or not. For all the reasons I listed above. Dude should be enormously grateful. He should be doing his best to get in shape. He should be doing his level best to be in top form for his teammates and new QB and Coach. He's doing none of those things by partying until dawn in Vegas. :excited:

If you're as rich as Javon, you're a target. It's unfortunate that this happenned and I wish Javon well, but hopefully he and others in the NFL can learn from his mistake.
If you're as hot as Jessica Alba, you're a target. It's unfortunate that this happened and I wish Jessica well, but hopefully she and others in the Hollywood can learn from his mistake.

So you don't feel bad for him because he acts like a lot a single young guys by hanging out in clubs? It's not like this guy's Pac Man Jones, in fact he's far from it.
Setting the bar a little low aren't we? "Not PacMan" is the key standard now?? Geez. :lmao: As for "a lot of single young guys": A LOT of single young guys haven't just been given their 3rd (and last) chance, paid 60 Million dollars by their employer when nobody else in the league would even give up a late round pick on the guy. :lmao:
Why should you be giving Javon Walker advice on how to live his life?I think Javon Walker knows himself quite a bit better than a random stranger, and Walker's quite a bit more successful than you, too. He's a multi-millionaire who has a dream job. The fact that you envy his salary and profession doesn't mean you know how Walker should best live to be a football player. Some people work so hard so they can actually live life when they're not at work. Work hard, play hard. I'm sure Walker works harder than you do, and dedicates himself to his job more than you do. It's his off-season. If nothing in his contract prevents him from doing this, why would you resent him?To bring this up when he just was the victim of what looks like a pretty gruesome assault is incredibly small of you. Walker shouldn't be rooted against just because he makes a lot of money.

What you are basically saying is that Javon was looking for a hooker and/or drugs when he was robbed and beaten? Not sure how else one could read between the lines of what you're saying.
Yes, that's what he's saying. Not really surprising since the street he got beat down on is basically known as crack alley.I have no clue if it's true, but wasted seems to know what was going on and the implication he's making is pretty clear.
