Jax will beat New England! (1 Viewer)

Pats can be overpowered in a running game.

The Jags offense can be thrown on, but not at Mathis (I think he is easily top 3 DB)

This will be a great game.....and chess match.

If Jags are to win they cannot allow Pats to score over 21.....and bad weather will favour the Jags, as well.
  :sarcasm: :tfp:  .......Sorry that was pretty funny.
They only scored 20 at home vs. the Jets. It's possible.

The JAX defense is good enough to slow them down. No one can really stop Brady/Moss.

The problem is the JAX offense. Is JAX going to get a special teams TD (MJD got to the 2) and a defensive TD? Without either of those, they lose pretty badly to the Steelers. The offense was BAD. Of course the Steeler D is very good, but I just don't think Brady is going to turn the ball over 4 times.

JAX in the right kind of game, winning the turnover battle, very good special teams they can give it a game. But if they make mistakes (INTs) they will be punished. JAX is built for cold weather. They won't mind that.

But they need to play a better game then they did against the Steelers. Brady just won't #### the bed like Big Ben did.

Big Ben racked up 300 yds in 3 Quarters / Ward had about 150.... Jax has no chance.

A bit of an intangible but I think something going against Jacksonville is that it seems that every sports pundit is placing the mantle of New England Killer on Jacksonville's head.
I had no idea journalists effected the outcome of games.
I usually don't like the "disrespect" card being played....but if I were the NE players...I'd probably be asking myself who the #### the Jacksonville Jaguars were...
Right... because taking an opponent lightly is a recipe for success.

Actually I don't think Jax defense is that good. Yes Ben #### the bed in the first half against them but he basically toyed with them in the 2nd half without any threat of a running attack!!! Even in the first half he put together a couple nice drives against them. I know that turnovers are a part of the game but at least 2 of those ints were just awful throws by Ben. You won't see that by Brady. Also, for the most part, the Steelers contained the Jags running attack without their best defensive lineman. Although ultimately Garrard won the game, he did not show me that he had the ability to carry the team on his back. The Patriots will follow the same formula the Steelers did but will probably be able to execute better because they have better players. With that said, I think the Jags came out flat against the Steelers and I'm not sure that will happen 2 weeks in a row. Also, they can use the "no respect" card this week. They have to play a whole lot better or the game will be over by halftime....

My main concern with the Jags(huge Jags fan, btw) is Garrard's inexperience. Bellichick is superb at mixing his defensive looks. Garrard may make a couple mistakes and that would be all NE needs. IF (and that's a big IF) Garrard plays clean, Jax runs the ball well controlling the clock, get a good pash rush against NE, then maybe. I think Jax has to force NE to be a one-dimensional passing attack in less-than ideal weather conditions to limit Brady. Jax D and special teams need to contribute like they did at Pitt and this could be a historic upset.

It would be difficult to paint a scenario for Pitt/SD/Tenn to pull this off which is why NE did NOT want to face the Jags. The only one of the bunch with a chance.

GO JAGS!!! :porked:
That's my tthought. I remember 2 years ago Jack Del Rio brought another young hot QB, who was fairly decent at game management, into NE for a WC game. The Jags were 12-4 that year as well. While I don't remember the score, it was a shellacking. I believe DelRio is overmatched in scheme. It would take a monumental effort from the players to overcome this. I can't see it happening. NE goes up early and forces J'vill into the pass, where mistakes are made. I love Garrard and in a couple of seasons he may pull this one off. This year isn't the year.

As for the Eagles and Giants. They lost both games, didn't they? The Eagles at the end of the season showed some heart, beating Dallas as well. I don't see these quality wins from J'ville.

Put it this way, NE went into NE and won. J'ville had two cracks at Indy and failed, both home and away.

I see it as a good game, but NE wins by at least 2 td's.

If you mean bringing extra people up in the box to stop the run and daring the Jags to pass I agree the Pats will do the same thing. But pretty much every defense the Jags have faced the last 5 years has done that. Don't get too catch up in what happened in Pitt on saturday. Because in the same way the Pitt game is not a trend for the Jags, the Giants game is not a trend for the Pats. If I looked at just the Pats last game I'd think the Jags should be favored, but unfortunately, the Pats(like the Jags) have a season's worth of games to look at.

Contrary to the opinions espoused here earlier this year, in arguing against NE winning games by more than a psecific amount, I don't consider a final score differential of 14 points to be huge. It's only two scores. Is it a emphatic win? Surely. But, many close games are won by 14 points. Many one sided games are won by less.

You should have quoted the rest of my post where I stated that I didn't think the Jags would come out flat 2 weeks in a row.....

I want the Jags win but their pass defense was very suspect last week. Yes I know they got 3 picks but those were really bad passes forced into coverage and even with those gifts they very nearly lost the game.

I hope the Jags pick up their game because if not this is going to be a blow out.

I agree. I've been saying this for a while, I believe New England will shred the Jags secondary. I think you'll see the pats spread out that tough D, lots of 4 wide and brady lots of yardage for brady. I know I'm really going out on a limb there. The Pats know that Jacksonville's strength is being physical, so they'll take that away.
