More news out of Denver, it appears that Jay Cutler has beaten out Bradlee Van Pelt to be the primary backup. Not a huge surprise, but its encouraging to see Cutler is progressing on schedule.

Actually, that is a surprise IMHO. Denver hasn't even played a pre-season game yet. For a team that has post-season aspirations to rely upon a rookie as its primary backup from Day 1 is a pretty impressive statement about that rookie.

Or a giant brain fart on the part of Shannahan. I guess having a rookie backup worked out pretty well for the Steelers, but I don't remember it working out for anyone else in recent years.
