Wonder what they're deliberating about? Is it possible he might walk because of the lack of "CSI" evidence? Is our legal system that broken? Please let this not be so.
Personally, I think it should be a reminder to all of us that if you suspect something or some child tells you something, or is acting like something is wrong, take the time to do all you can do to find out the truth. The decision by a lot of people years ago to not act on suspicions, and even accusations, allowed this monster to prey on far more young boys than he should have been allowed. It's not "none of my business". It's everyone's job to protect kids from people like Jerry Sandusky. The community failed and a lot of people's lives are a whole lot more difficult as a result.I'm as repulsed as you, i just don;t know what throwing things like this out there gains usit could be 50 it could be 500, we really have no way to know.I'm now convinced that the number of boys Sandusky molested is most likely at or near triple digits. It looks like everything he ever did with young boys was with one purpose in mind, to groom them to become his sexual toys. He started his charity for that purpose and he fostered/adopted for that purpose.
What a vile human being.
Could be that they can't reach a consensus on all 48 counts. But from what I understand, if they find him guilty of even one count he'll likely never experience freedom again.Wonder what they're deliberating about? Is it possible he might walk because of the lack of "CSI" evidence? Is our legal system that broken? Please let this not be so.
Considering that he founded the 2nd Mile in 1977, was seen showering with boys as early as 1983, it's a good bet that the real number is probably well over 100.I'm now convinced that the number of boys Sandusky molested is most likely at or near triple digits. They have 48 charges to sort through.Let them do their job.Hyperbole about our broken legal system because of the time they're taking is dumb.Wonder what they're deliberating about? Not sure, but scary. In high profile cases, juries tend to forget the "reasonable" part of reasonable doubt and instead look for one inconsistentcy in one person's story to discredit everyone. I hope that this isnt't the case, but they have asked for McQuerry's testimioney and the family member that disputed a small part of the the specifics in his testimony. It's possible that someone on the jury may be seeing "reasonable" doubt based on that.Wonder what they're deliberating about? Is it possible he might walk because of the lack of "CSI" evidence? Is our legal system that broken? Please let this not be so.
I'm assuming there have been other molestation cases that have taken years to come to light (normal for the victims) where having physical evidence would be nearly impossible. And I would assume at least a couple have led to the defendant being found guilty.Could be that they can't reach a consensus on all 48 counts. But from what I understand, if they find him guilty of even one count he'll likely never experience freedom again.Wonder what they're deliberating about? I hope you're right. I don't mind being called dumb about this. After reading all of the Casey Anthony stuff, I wasn't convinced that there was enough evidence to convict her of murder. There were a lot of strange things going on with that entire family. This case, to me, is far more open and shut than that one.Just myI hope you're right. I don't mind being called dumb about this. They had a lot more evidence, including DNA evidence, in the OJ trial.Certainly crazier/dumber things have happened in the court system than Sandusky being acquitted.I really hope they don't botch this one :(I hope you're right. It could certainly end up the way the CA trial did.I'd prefer they take all the time they need to do their job completely. The time they use doesn't make our legal system 'broken.'I hope you're right. Yeah, I'd say the exact opposite. The time they use doesn't make our legal system 'broken.'
I hope the jury puts less words in other peoples' mouths than you guys do.Re-read the quote...he says that letting Sandusky walk due to a lack of 'CSI' evidence would mean our legal system is 'broken', not the time taken by the jury.Yeah, I'd say the exact opposite. The time they use doesn't make our legal system 'broken.'
I am starting to actually come around that maybe OJ didn't do it. No, I'm sure there will be FBG's ready to defend him. After all, he may just be covering for a family member who committed the real crimes. If Sandusky walks, is it ok to riot?![]()

Fair enough.Just don't care for second-guessing juries when they're trying to do their job. That's what I meant though. I wonder if he felt guilty for not stopping Victim 4 from being abused?linkMatt Sandusky sat in the courtroom with #Sandusky family in the beginning, it wasn't until after Victim 4 testified that he disappeared.
I don't even want to think about what would happen if he walks. It would be ugly to say the least. But there's no way they could screw this up...right?If Sandusky walks, is it ok to riot?![]()

Well, I agree with you to the extent that I think the impulse to diddle kids is something that needs to somehow get destigmatized so that people will get treatment and try to take precautions or whatever. Just having that impulse doesn't make you evil, and I think we need to recognize that for whatever reason some people have it. It must be terrible for them, and I'm open to any ideas where we can try to humanely help potential child molesters in any way we can before they start molesting. But I think that moment has passed for Sandusky. He did some really horrible things. We can't go back now and undo them.I don't know how he walks, based on the limited information I have heard. But, I am probably in the minority in thinking is/was criminally insane. I think all child molesters are clearly incapable of either determining right from wrong, or from refraining from acting on those impulses. I believe there is something not connecting in the brain. I don't mean to suggest, at all, that child molesters should be running free, simply because they lack the ability to chose right from wrong - but I don't think most child molesters are inherently "evil" or deserving of the death penalty (from the state or other means). I just think they need treatment more than punishment - because I don't believe punishment is a deterrent here. And, I would be fine if that meant treatment for 20+ years in an institution under lock and key.
Here's a good sig if anyone wants one. These things take time, Tim. There are a lot of charges. They have to go through each one, methodically, and make sure that every element of said crime has been fulfilled. They have to weigh the defense's argument. I'd be surprised if they found him not guilty on a few of them, probably.Actual justice takes a bit more time than Message Board Justice.I don't mind being called dumb

I was surprised the prosecutors didn't go for a different venue. Was there ever a request to have the trial moved to a different location?

It's hard to blame jurors for wanting to take more than a couple hours to deliberate and review testimony before they send a guy to prison for the rest of his life, especially when you consider the living hell that prison will be for a guy like Sandusky. What's your basis for that? And all it took, iirc, was a little "mistake" for Dahmer to end up where others could get to him. Got plunged to death with a broomstick.Anyone expecting prison justice for Jerry Sandusky is going to be disappointed. Protection is always for sale in the can and Sando has plenty of jack. Plus, he's minimum security/PC all the way. With or without a conviction, he'll die of natural causes.
I am sure that is true for many pedophiles but we also can't discount the possibility that he could be a sick pervert of his own making. The limited amount of knowledge I have in Psychology suggests that most adults who molest children tend to have been abused or molested themselves. I'm sure if there were magical cameras that could replay Sandusky's childhood that very likely we could see a person who was in the same position that he put these children in.
Completely inexcusable and I am rooting for him to be convicted but the cycle of abuse in these situations is pretty astonishing when you trace it back to the first domino that fell.
So you're saying we're likely looking at about 100+ additional Sanduskys in 40-50 years? The limited amount of knowledge I have in Psychology suggests that most adults who molest children tend to have been abused or molested themselves. I hear you Warrior but there are likely many victims who did not come forward, some very likely could be active pedophiles themselves. I'm not trying to act like I know something others don't, and again I want to make it clear I feel Sandusky is brutally guilty of just about all these charges and should rot in a prison cell if not worse the remainder of his awful existence in this world. So you're saying we're likely looking at about 100+ additional Sanduskys in 40-50 years? The limited amount of knowledge I have in Psychology suggests that most adults who molest children tend to have been abused or molested themselves. I don't buy into that theory at all. They use to say gay people became gay because they were molested. The bottom line is everyone is born with a sexual preference. It's just as difficult for Sandusky to stay away from boys as it is for everyone else to resist their desires. Unfortunately for him, this gets you locked up.
