Jets/Ravens Thread; Sanchez's Deer in Headlights (1 Viewer)

I think people should bear in mind, these teams are doing different things this preseason.

Jets are trying to get Sanchez' feet wet.

And the Ravens are getting a look at the passing game. If you are expecting 35 passes a game from Flacco this year, it ain't happening.

Not a believer in Rice this year, and I LOVE seeing him score on national TV.
Those backs who can avoid 3 guys, including Bart Scott, who come free into the backfield and can still manage to not only get back to the LOS but get the first down are always overrated.
I didn't say he's overrated, I said I am not a believer in him this year.
I interpreted your post to mean you think his ADP is too high, and will continue to rise. If that's not accurate, my apologies. My point was that its plays like the one above, as well as that first goalline play where he went down making a block, but got up and came back to make another block which allowed Flacco to roll out enough to get rid of the ball, that will have him playing more, which will warrant the high ADP.
I do think his ADP is too high.I think people drafting Rice either are counting on him as an every week starter, or are sacrificing a starter somewhere else, to get him as a flex. They are going 3RBBC, the coach is telling everyone he is going to a 3RBBC, and there are two other guys there that do different things than Rice.

So, like I said, for this year, I am not a believer.

Sanchez is getting killed. Washington is looking incredible, but more importantly, the Jets' oline is looking great. Perhaps I've been too down on Thomas Jones.

I don't see how Greene is going to provide any value at all this season. Washington is clearly the best offensive player on the field any time he is out there and Jones is still going to be starting.

Washington has been one of the guys I've been targeting in all leagues this season. He's going to be a great player at the flex spot. And if Jones goes down, look out.

Interesting to now see how Clemens does here. Sanchez did show some of that moxy and responded well (also helped out by Neon Leon, no doubt), so now the opportunity is there for Clemens to do something.

Man, Harris and Scott could really be one of the top duos in the league this year.

Sanchez was dinged in the head, according to sideline report, which was the reason for coming out.

TD pass from Clemens to Clowney. Clowney shows speed again, not a great pass from Clemens, underthrown a bit. Not terrible either though.

Yup, very impressive. Running on Ngata and Gregg without Woody...They are picking up right where they left off last year.

Brick may not be the "stud" everyone projected him to be, but him, Mangold, Woody, and Faneca really make a solid group. Moore isnt that bad, either.

I thought the Jets would be a great sleeper defense, but Flacco is tearing them up.
I think the 2 keys to that defense are Jenkins and Revis both of whom were out...I kinda liked the blitzes though and with those two guys I see some turnover potential. That said, Flacco looked real good.

Good point on Jenk and Revis being out. The defense is much better with those two in and healthy.

It is pretty clear to me that the Jets best chance to win right NOW is with Clemens, not Sanchez. Sanchez should be good in the future but he looks like he has a lot to learn.

Wait, you mean he isn't ready to go after two quarters of preseason?

ESPN announcers talked up Sanchez more than Olberman talks up Obama. Sanchez made a great throw on his last pass but quite frankly that was the only throw that impressed me. I'm not saying Clemens lit it up but he looked quite a bit better than Sanchez.

I'm not sure I'm seeing where Clemons looked better than Sanchez tonight, the stats don't say that, the game I was watching didn't show me that. Also Sanchez had to go up against the Ravens first stringers while Clemons went up against the second stringers? I am following this game, watched all of Sanchez/Clemons. I didn't think Clemons outplayed Sanchez, Sanchez has played 2 quarters of pre season football so far and Clemons is in his 4th year?

IMO I dont think you can say one or the other is that far ahead. I think at this point I would trust Rex to make the decision that's best for the team. I think it may just come down to upside versus experience. Which one does Rex value more right now - does he think Clemens' experience is good enough to help lead a rushing attack offense, or does he think he needs the kid who possesses better raw tools to help give him a possible edge when the passing game needs it? I was thinking it would be Sanchez, but Clemens starting wouldn't surprise me at all.

Agreed, but he was the reason why the casual fan tuned in...remember, most viewers aren't fantasy football geeks like us that roam messageboards daily for the sole purpose of chatting football.

Observations from the game:

Sanchez is not ready to start. Looked lost and well, like a rookie QB. This doesn't mean that Clemens is a great QB, but with 4 years of experience I would think he should get the upper hand.

Washington is a stud waiting to happen. I know this isn't new news. Still, it anyone is to see more of a workload in NYJ this year it has to be this guy.

NYJ have one of the best olines in football.

The Balt D will be among the leagues best again this year.

Flacco is a legit QB with star potential but that wont translate into fantasy stats.

The Rice/McGahee RBBC will frustrate fantasy owners all season long.

Did Shonn Greene get hurt? He was only in for a few plays and then I saw him grimacing after he took the pass in the flat down to the goal line. He came out right after that and I didn't see him again.

 I also think that both these teams are going to try to lead the league in rushing attempts and tried to mix it up last night and put their teams in different situations.. Especially Sanchez - I think Rex threw him to the wolves to see how he would handel it....If this were a regular season game - I think both teams try to pound it out a while and the Jets might have stuck in that game a little better.... Plus of course add Jenkins and Revis to the D.I've been saying it all along - And I was also a Jets fan willing to stick with Clemens and a Vet over drafting Sanchez.... But, I think Clemens should start while Sanchez learns a bit - the schedule it brutal and there's a good posibilty Sanchez could see the field anyway. That said - Let me dream for a second - If the Jets drafted Flacco last year over Gholston and used 2 picks this year to beef up the WR core and whatever else - There would be a world of difference in this team right now :dreamover:

From the post-game press conference:"Shonn Greene, on that real nice play he made when Kellen chucked the ball down to him, he got hit in the ribs. Nothing broken but tender, so I think that’s it."
