I disagree with this slightly. There was a Tea Party waiting to break out towards the end of Bush's term as fiscal conservatives were pissed about Bush's spending. The election of Obama, stimulus, health care, and perceived attack on small business got the grass roots movement up and going. But the way Bush was spending put the pieces in place.

I am sorry but the stress that is on the President of the United States is unmatched by any position in the US. Yes, Mr. McCain is still alive and doing great, but the stress level of a Congressman and the Presidnet are not even close. President Obama is showing age after only 2 years and lets face it not a lot would be different due to the economy situation.

Debt ceiling mess would have been avoided because the GOP (more accurately, the tea baggers) are the ones that turned it into a "crisis" in an attempt to hurt Obama. As for the downgrade, I am not so sure.
