Tough break for him and I hope he fully recovers. Honestly I'm probably going to drop him in dynasty. I don't think this bodes well for him and I wouldn't be surprised if he retires.
Can't speak for werd, but I have zero problem with anyone who wants to call Jordan Reed fragile or insult his toughness. Your hangnail joke? Totally cool with it.JohnnyU said:Come on man, this guy is more fragile than old man Parker's leg lamp.werdnoynek said:JohnnyU said:Did he hurt his labia again?![]()
Yeah a guy who gets a concussion should totally have his toughness questioned! Can't speak for werd, but I have zero problem with anyone who wants to call Jordan Reed fragile or insult his toughness. I've got much more of a problem with calling football players "women" as if that's some sort of insult.
did they drop him out of the back of the bus? man, that guy's got to hang them up or he's going to be a vegetable when he's 40.From rotoworld -
Redskins coach Jay Gruden provided "no timetable" on Jordan Reed's recovery from his latest concussion, and revealed Monday that Reed also sprained his ankle and knee in Sunday's upset of the Eagles.
Reed is believed to have suffered at least five concussions dating back to his time at the University of Florida. In addition, he is dealing with a sprained MCL and ankle, and Gruden expressed that he is "concerned" with Reed's health. Fantasy owners can't count on Reed to play Sunday against the Falcons. Derek Carrier would be the next man up at tight end in Washington. Reed leads the Redskins with 24 receptions for 278 yards through four games.
Same here. Whenever someone posts something like that I picture them as a fat dude sitting in a laz-e-boy chair eating cheetos and yelling at the TV.I always laugh when people typing from their desk chair or couches refer to other people who go through the equivalent of multiple car accidents a week as "soft" and "fragile"
To me, toughness is a decision not to play through something that you can play through. you can tape an ankle but you can't tape a brain. Injury prone? Disappointing? Sure but I think most of these guys are plenty tough...Can't speak for werd, but I have zero problem with anyone who wants to call Jordan Reed fragile or insult his toughness. Your hangnail joke? Agree. This is why the "you can't predict injuries" thing - which you always see on here, they preach it - is false. No you can't predict THE injury but you can get an idea of who might be more likely to have them. And how is that not part of prognostication?I always laugh when people typing from their desk chair or couches refer to other people who go through the equivalent of multiple car accidents a week as "soft" and "fragile"
The truth is that the NFL is a brutal sport and some people's bodies, despite their best efforts, just cant take the pounding. Sadly, Jordan Reed seems like one of those guys. Sean Lee is another.
Really good players when healthy but their bodies just continue to fail them.
I think it's pointless, trite, and played-out, but there are a lot of things that people do that I wouldn't do. Questioning guys' toughness is part of the fabric of football. It's been going on forever. Bill Walsh had to wait ages for a head coaching gig because Paul Brown would tell everyone who would listen that he was "too professorial" and not tough enough. I would venture that this did not work out so well for those in the "toughness questioning" business, but hey, that's their prerogative.Yeah a guy who gets a concussion should totally have his toughness questioned!
Wait, can we do that? This changes everythingI think it's pointless, trite, and played-out, but there are a lot of things that people do that I wouldn't do. But the idea that being a woman is something someone should feel ashamed about, and that this is the greatest insult we can levy at a man? That's a horse of a different color. If anyone ever wonders why the overwhelming majority of people identifying as fantasy players are men, (despite nearly half of all NFL fans being women), I'd suggest that things like this probably play a big role in that. Might as well hang a big sign on the front door saying "no girls allowed".

, one or the other.I generally agree you can't predict injuries but there are exceptions to every rule. Reed/Ellington/Mcfadden, guys with multiple seasons of multiple injuries are the exception types.Agree. Can't believe what this guy is doing. Picked him up for bye because there was no one else available.Barnidge is the only TE worth anything in my league that is available. Unfortunately, 3 other teams in my league need TE so I might have to bid alot. Either that or try and trade for Gates.
I picked him up for Gronk in one league and that worked out almost enough (lost by 1.2) to make up for Gronk and Roethlisberger. I have Gates as a backup to Reed in my other TE league and I'll be looking at Barnidge in that league as well. I didn't pick him up last week because I, like most owners, knew he played Oakland and they bend over for TEs and I had Reed/Gates which before I opened this damn thread seemed OK.Can't believe what this guy is doing. Because he's had at least 5 concussions. Because the effects are additive. Because he missed a big chunk of one season due to a concussion. Because he doesn't want his brain to turn into liquid. Why would he retire? Everything I see reads mild knee strain and minor concussion. Back in a week probably. Now is the time for sharks to buy!
This is a strange issue to troll about, but I'll play along. I don't see the word "minor" attached to his current concussion protocol anywhere. I see several reports saying that the Redskins are unsure of how severe it is, and they don't have a timetable for his return. Why would he retire? Everything I see reads mild knee strain and minor concussion. Back in a week probably. Now is the time for sharks to buy!
http://redskinscapitalconnection.com/jordan-reed-5-concussions-in-5-years/^^^ I would love proof that he's had five concussions.
I would love proof that you're actually serious about downplaying the significance of his situation and not just fishing here...^^^ I would love proof that he's had five concussions.

I'm fairly confident he was acquired as the insurance plan for Reed's injury propensity. Much like Niles Paul before him... and Carrier was acquired right after Paul was lost for the year.Posted this in the week 5 pickups, - any insight on Derek Carrier as the replacement for Reed?
Good insight - thanks.I'm fairly confident he was acquired as the insurance plan for Reed's injury propensity. Carrier's a converted WR if I'm not mistaken... made some plays for the 49ers last year in a pass-catching role, but they wanted their TEs to be able to block more, which always kept him buried on the depth chart. This could be a great opportunity for him as Gruden clearly doesn't care at all if Jordan Reed blocks.
If you're in dire straits at TE... there are worse options to take a shot on than Carrier.

By the modern definition of concussion virtually any active, sport oriented person has probably had multiple undiagnosed concussions in their lifetime.Because he's had at least 5 concussions. Because the effects are additive. Because he missed a big chunk of one season due to a concussion. Because he doesn't want his brain to turn into liquid. Why would he retire? Nonsensehttp://redskinscapitalconnection.com/jordan-reed-5-concussions-in-5-years/^^^ I would love proof that he's had five concussions.
I was high on Jordan Cameron but last year when he got his 3rd concussion, I couldn't trade him fast enough. Unfortunately it isn't something that you ever fully heal from.
He's been out since the preseason. Done for the year.Niles Paul anyone? Or has that ship sailed too?
I also have Eifert... makes it easier to move on, but it's not like I have depth at the position. Still, wish we could hear something more conclusive about the situation...I'm leaning that way, but have kelce and eifert as well.
Your gut can talk??!! Wow.I doubt we will for awhile. My gut says they will hold him out for several weeks, possibly till after their bye (week 8), and then decide from there. Nothing would surprise me: from him returning to play, to IR, to even retirement.
Yes, it tells me many things. Mainly that I'm hungry, but other things too.Your gut can talk??!! Wow.I doubt we will for awhile. i dropped him. I don't see how he plays anytime soon.Curious what other Reed owners are doing with him, assuming you don't also own Gronk, Graham, Kelce, Eifert, Witten, etc.
Are you holding on hoping he returns sooner rather than later, or cutting bait with the assumption that this latest concussion is going to be a multi-week thing?
