Josh McDaniels - Lets give him a hand (1 Viewer)

As for cocky, if he is, so what? If city killing UFOs fell out of the sky, would you want them confronted by a very sedate bunch of Church loving guys who always stay within the lines in fighter jets? Or do you want some crazed hard drinking egomaniacs who have 83 unpaid speeding tickets and fully believe they can kill anyone out of the sky?
I'd want the crazed hard drinking egomaniacs IN the planes while the sedate guy was in the control tower running the show. McDaniels is a coach, not a player.

He seemed to catch a lot of people off guard in route to a 6-0 start, but he has done an awful job since, capped off today by a pathetic home loss to the Raiders where they allowed JaMarcus Russell to go down the field and beat them at the end. Terrible.

Our D was excellent today.

That Week 1 Stokley circus catch may be the thing that keeps the Broncos from 8-8.

The team defense went through wholesale changes, and went from 29th in yards given up per game in 08 to 3rd in yards given up per game in 09. The GM, the HC and the DC deserve credit for that.

Hard not to wonder, though, what might have been if the HC had just kept Bates, left the 08 offense in place, drafted Moreno to run the ball, and not converted the offense to Slip Screen U. Your passing offense has gone from 3rd in yards per game to 17th in yards per game.

It looks to me like as long as you don't miss a bunch of tackles on these screen passes, that offense isn't going anywhere. With respect, I just don't see how you're ever going to win the Super Bowl like that. That is to say, in the AFC championship game and Super Bowl, you are likely going to be playing teams that can tackle the recipients of these short passes.

That guy's going to forget more football today than I'll ever know, so I'm sure there's a plan behind it, but I just don't understand.

He probably won't win coach of the year this year.

Despite an historic turnaround by the defense this year, McDaniels has the team in no better shape, as far as W/L record is concerned, than Shanahan did a year ago. 2-7 in their last nine games. Good job, Josh. :kicksrock: :hot:

give him a hand for what? he's coached his team to a sub .500 record ( yes, I'm discounting the fluke win vs. Cincy earlier in the year).

this team is really just 7-8, IMO..

M'eh, they've had a few games stolen from them by officials, including this week

what a clown. He basically decided a #### measuring contest with his 2 best pass catchers was more important than making the playoffs.

Amazing.

A HC with an massive ego and power trip will not mix well with the deserved lack of respect by his players, fans and (I'd have to assume) management. With all of the big name HC's circling the available jobs in 2010, would anybody be severely shocked if McDaniels is canned this offseason?

I think Bowlen needs to have a meeting with Marshall and explein to him that he made a horrible mistake and see if he would consider staying in Denver. And of course, he should immediately fire McDaniels. Wow. What an ego this punk has.

Don't look now, but Josh McDaniels, the leader in the clubhouse for NFL coach of the year midway through the season, is doing the same kind of stuff that got Shanahan fired. Sunday's loss marked the third time in four seasons that the Broncos needed to win their season finale to have a chance at the playoffs. Their record in those three games? That would be 0-3
The truth is, the Broncos since their six-game winning streak have the 30th-best record in the league. Only the Rams and Lions, at 1-9, have been worse than the Broncos' 2-8 mark.

This is where I'm supposed to look for a silver lining, a hint of optimism, a whiff of positive news. Um, did I mention Kyle Orton hit Derrick Johnson in stride on both of Johnson's interception returns for touchdowns?

8-8 is a lot better than what I thought they would do. With the picks they have (especially if they get more for Marshall), this team could be a real contender for years to come.

Don't see it.

They can then run those good players off for more high picks, who after being chosen will then be run off, but again for more high picks. I like where this is headed.

I can definitely see this team becoming a long-term contender. Assuming they bring in a new coaching staff, but that goes without saying.

They keep Orton yes? Look at his record. He's a winner--to be a contender you need a QB who wins. Denver will definitely remain a contender.

Of what? The playoffs? That's about his ceiling at best
