Just canned Kickers! (1 Viewer)

We've been in our league for 12 years and we finally dropped the kickers from our rosters. It is an experiment our commish wants to try. In place of the pk a mandatory TE will be installed.

Starting Line up:

1 QB

2 RB'S

3 WR'S

1 TE

1 DEF.

I think it will add to our auction night strategy picking a TE or two, and for what it's worth kickers have been a pain in my backside for years along with the late night draft "yaaaawn" selections in the surpentine rds. 16 etc. or that crucial 1 dollar buy in your auction formats. I always hated losing by a stinkin FG or PAT. Now if I lose, I will feel legitimized some what.

Has anyone else implemented this style in their leagues ?

I could see this as a new trend!!

To those of you who like the kickers; go bend like Beckman !!

I'm sure real NFL teams hate losing by a FG alot; heaven forbid it happens in a Super Bowl.

Kickers are part of the game, and should stay that way. Until the NFL bans them, that is.

Do NFL teams get points for yards? Lose points for INTs?Get only 4 points when a QB passes for a TD?

I just started up an initial dynasty league without kickers. They might be part of the game, but so is the pre-game coinflip. I don't see any fantasy football leagues implementing a coinflip for bonus fantasy points. Do you?

Goodell likes banning guys! Kickers should be high on that list. And then we should kick them out of the country.

I wish the NFL would ban kickers. 4th down = go for it or punt. I'm sick of glorified soccer geeks deciding football games.

I've done this and pitched it for years. Bramel, Bloom, Andy D, and Construx will all get a taste of it this year in my online IDP redraft which mirror images my local league. Both banned kickers in 2002.

I like kickers. Especially when they have the week they score you 15 points to give your team a boost.

Do the Colts get 12 points for a TD pass from Peyton Manning to Marvin Harrison?? :goodposting: As much as I don't like kickers, I like them in fantasy football more than I like Defense/ST.

Exactly... If there's anything you should ban, it's team D's.Kickers are prettu harmless in FF, considering on a great day they only score 15. On a great (Read: Lucky) days Def's can score 35+. That's bogus, IMO.

Most fantasy football teams give 10 points; 6 to the receiver and 4 to the passer.

I banned team Ds in 02 too. No kickers = IDPs. Reduce the luck a little and learn the other side of the LoS. It's not a big deal to lose kickers but it isn't worth arguing hard for some new trend. I've gone through about 35 owners in those leagues (one kicks out a bunch every year by design), and I have only had one owner say he missed kickers. I have had many tell me they preferred not having them once they tried it.

Big soccer fan and player here: leave the kickers alone. They're a huge part of the game and very skilled. Go ahead and play in some obscure and freakishly mutated version of fantasy football where any longstanding and crucial part of the honorable game of NFL football is hacked out when the first cry of "I don't like it" is heard. I don't want any part of it and long live Adam Vinatieri.

Maybe they could come out with a new sport where kickers could fight to the death at half-time or something. Maybe give bonus points to kickers that have fewer than 6 syllables in their name or the ones that pronounce the word ball so that it doesn't sound like bowl. Or maybe, set up a scoring system that states if your kicker can make 1 legitimate textbook tackle in a season, your team automatically wins the championship.

Just some ideas.

If you don't like how defenses are scoring, adjust your defensive scoring. If you find that you keep losing because you draft crappy defenses, then odds are you're drastically undervaluing defenses in your scoring system. Try drafting better ones. If you have good defenses but they consistently score poorly for you, then get better at evaluating week-to-week matchups. I personally *LOVE* team defenses, because they're very reliable and predictable, and unlike IDPs, scoring actually reflects how well you're playing (if you have IDPs and you get rewarded for tackles, players often get points for making BAD plays, like giving up a 30 yard completion and then getting the tackle afterwards).

My biggest beef about Kickers is that they're essentially a coinflip. No other position in the league has a higher standard deviation from year to year. No other position in the league has less correlation between preseason predictions and end-of-season rankings. No other position in the league has less correlation between scoring and opponent faced (meaning there's no other position that behaves less predictably from week to week). Kickers really are just a lottery in every way imaginable. They're the least predictable from year-to-year and from week-to-week, and in my opinion, they have no place in a game whose very basis is predicting yearly and weekly performance. Really, why not just add a pre-game coinflip worth 5 fantasy points, too?

That and they run around like the villagers in a gay community being invaded by Godzilla for the first time.

My point was simple.Don't act as if fantasy football scoring has really a thing to do with how the NFL scores. The poster made a point that NFL teams get beat by bad kickers too...well, they don't get a point for each reception Donald Driver makes either. Its about making fantasy football more enjoyable, not more like the NFL.

As a Bills fan, I hate kickers more than anyone.
Ouch. My aunt is a die-hard Bills fan originally from Buffalo. I'm a Jets fan, so naturally, "NOR-WOOD" is a common chant when we watch football together. Then I have to admit, yeah, well, at least you made it 3 times.
