Justified (1 Viewer)

With all of the shows on now, I don't know if I'll give Justified a chance past the first episode. It just wasn't very realistic. The blond has no fear that the neo-nazi brother of her husband that she killed will come after her, two cops are being fired on with machine guns from the two fat skinheads and they tell Olyphant to go on, "we got this" then one guy asks "should I wing him or kill him" The little nazi guy points a loaded shotgun into the face of Olyphant and he seems ok with it and doesn't arrest him.

on and on... they take serious issues too lightly. Maybe if I hear amazing things about it I'll give it a shot again in the future.

it was pretty clear to me going in that olyphant was the main character, not sure how anyone could have arrived at a different conclusion.
i agree
People thought he wasn't the main character? Did they watch more than 2 seconds of any preview for the show?
Nobody thought Olyphant wasn't the main character. I don't know why anyone would think there was any confusion about that. The issue is with Goggins' role. I think they misled the audience, hoping to suck Shield/Goggins fans in, making them think he'd play a major role in this.

In this trailer, he's first voice you hear and they make it seem like it's a clear Olyphant/Goggins protagonist/antagonist relationship:

I have lived in or around the area where the show takes place. The only thing I saw not realistic was the "should I wing him or kill him" question.

Last night's episode was okay. Compared to Sons of Anarchy and Rescue Me, I think that 2 episodes in "Justified" is the lesser of the 3. I'll keep watching, if only because it keeps me from having to watch HGTV but given the choice between Justified and Breaking Bad or Mad Men, its a no brainer. The show lacks the edge that I've come to expect from FX shows.

 my sentiments exactly. I'll give this show a few more eps but as of now, I'd say it's just a tad above average. Nothing on the level of Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Rescue Me or SOA thus far.

I liked the show last night. I bailed on Rescue Me after his son got hit by the drunk driver. That show was/is so freaking depressing. I felt like hanging myself after each show. My wife still watches it and is going through the seasons on DVD. Couple of nights ago I decide to sit down and watch an episode with her. It was the episode where the captain shoots himself. I looked at my wife and said WTF it is non stop depression. She just laughed and popped in the next episode. I walked away wanting to hang myself.

I heard from the Sportsguy's (Bill Simmons) podcast that this last show was the weakest of the first four. I will keep watching.

:thumbup:My problem with Justified so far is they seem to have too many lulls that are too long.I understand building a character, but some of the parts just seem drawn out.

I really like the pace. It helps give it that "Kentucky" feel, if that makes any sense.

Just caught up and the wife like it so I will stay on board.

One thing I missed. The guy he shot at the beginning of the first episode, did he blow up his partners head? Whose head was it that got blown up

Not as impressed this week. I am not bailing but I hope Goggins is coming back. I just didnt think this week was as interesting. I like it when the main character has a solid nemesis. Mackey had several on The Shield.

So I'm guessing he is escaping from the US Marshall Department? (Highly unlikely in RL, but this is TV). Otherwise he is setting in jail.

He did say he was more like The Fugitive then Gunsmoke so maybe that is the plot

the first episode is free on iTunes right now if you missed it like I did.

just watched it. I like.

Set the Tivo to get the 2nd Ep on replay and season pass'd the rest of it.

If network d-bags had any brains at all, the first few episodes of any series should be free for download everywhere. I mean, if you're going to take any lessons from the dealers on the corners, it's that the first taste is always free. That being said, I dig this show but I'm not really sure where it's going. I was expecting a nemesis relationship between Olyphant and Goggins, kind of like a Sons of Anarchy with more of a stable bad guy involved. Now it's looking like just a badass cop show set in the sticks. Not that I'm complaining, I'm just still shifting in my seat, so to speak...waiting for my assgroove to form.

Yesterday there was an article in the Chicago Tribune about Goggins role.

Goggins

Here is a quick recap if you want.

It says that he was supposed to die in the pilot, but they changed it after test screening the show. By the time they made that decision. he was already filming Predators so for the first 5 episodes he has smaller roles as he was flying back and forth. It sounds like he is on board for the whole first season, he is currently a "guest star" in 9 episodes, but if the show gets picked up he will be back in season 2.

Last night was better then week 2. I wont be heartbroken if i miss an episode here and there, but its good. The only "running" plot is Ava, which isn't critical to the story. But I thought the conflict with the white supremacists would be a major thread. We'll see where it goes.

Poor episode IMO. Of course, I'm just coming off of one of the best episodes in the history of television (most recent Breaking Bad). Justified is watchable but definitely a poor man's Sons of Anarchy.

I watched the first episode when it originally aired and then watched episode 2 and 3 tonight.

Never saw a show with such great first episode potential jump the shark in record time.

This show needs to decide if it is going to be The Shield - In Blue Grass - or the Andy Griffith Show.

Needs more bad assery. Looks like we're only gonna get that from the bad guys because they're having the marshall play it by the book quite a bit. What action hero calls for backup? C'mon, just go shoot some people. Call for backup? If I wanted to see that I'd watch cops.

Yeah. Not terrible, maybe Sons of Anarchy and Rescue Me had my hopes up too much.

Yep.

I thought it was the second-best episode next to the series premiere. Cameron made for a good guest star. The guest stars have really been the most interesting characters outside of Olyphant.

anybody stick with this? the season finale was on tuesday, and I watched the whole season. I kinda dug it. it had its flaws, but I thought the most of the characters were pretty engaging. I really enjoyed the finale, it had some nice twists with a little cliffhanger at the end.

:goodposting: It was good, not great. I'd certainly watch season 2.

it wasn't awesome but it is certainly enjoyable. i hope they don't screw it up for season 2. oh, they need a lot more of his ex-wife in short skirts and heels. she has superb legs!

watched and enjoyed it. better then most of what is on TV these days. hope the bring it back. could be interesting to see how it goes.

I watched the entire season and liked the show. Not on the same level as The Shield or Rescue Me but I think I enjoyed it just as much as I did Sons of Anarchy.

I agree with most here I liked the show and will continue to watch. After watching Deadwood and this show I have become a big Olyphant fan. There is something odd and stiff about his acting style but that makes him very interesting to me if that makes sense.

I really want to like Rescue Me but it is just to depressing. My wife still watches it and every once in a while I will sit down to watch some. Without fail they remind me why I cant watch it. I think the last time I sat down to watch it the captain shot himself in the head.
