Las Vegas Raiders thread - ☠ Lucy holding the #1 pick in 2026 draft nice and steady for us ☠ (7 Viewers)

Saints win! Need Titans to hold on. If we lose out, believe we are guaranteed the #2. If Titans win today and somehow get 1 more win, #1 is ours.

Raiders Hail Mary at the end of the half. They only rush 4. We have 5 OLinemen. They still sack Geno. Perfectly executed pile of garbage.

And icing on the cake was leaving 3 seconds for Denver to throw a Hail Mary. I swear I was rooting for them to score on that play. Bury this piece of crap franchise we’re doomed to root for.

Not sure why you're getting hostile toward me? I'm not arguing anything, just continuing the discussion on how doomed this was. Chip may have been Bratek's baby but Carroll has to be smart enough in that case to not try to turn a racehorse into a donkey. He also needs to be man enough to either refuse to capitulate to that kind of silliness or if he agrees the check is worth it to get behind it and carry the banner. He's done nothing a HC is supposed do. Ironically, the reason we were high on his hiring was that for the first time in a long time we expected we had a pro's pro at head coach.

Sorry, Hank. My bad. I'm not intending to be hostile. I mistook your tone. I hate it for you guys. He brought in his kid as the offensive line coach and it should have been red flags everywhere. You guys got old man Belichick'd.

Sorry for the response. I mean, I'm trying to sympathize with a guy yesterday who literally wrote "Decoy" about a guy who was hurt and I posted "nope" (and i only did because this guy always issues these completely wrong declaratives about everything and adds nothing) because he sure wasn't a decoy and then I added how wrong I was about the guy in question and even linked to my wrongness and instead of playing along the guy responds, "I wrote it more like a question." Sorry, he wrote something to the effect of "I meant it more like . . ." or something like that

I laughed and wrote this long breakdown of what writing was and how we assent to standardization and just let it go, but

question mark down?

You know, it's every day here is a suckhole but there are about three people I like, so I tune in because it's been a decade and a half.

And ****, I worked on that response so here goes. In the Raider thread. It's unfinished and imperfect but you'll see the point.

Ah, yes, I didn't get your tone through the screen. I mean, I guess all we have are these symbols that become a formalized system of "signs" (words), which, due to a shared culture, are part of a larger, specific system of communication between an offeror and an individual recipient or an offeror and the public; and this physical, formally systematized communication is one that is not intuited but is governed by rules and conventions that are learned with great expense and cost to both learner and learner’s family. This learning is drawn from a constant (yet ever-changing) body of knowledge and then an instruction from an instructor within that culture that intends to teach and pass down the rules that govern the entire structure of the communication. So we have an offeror who attempts to convey a meaning by using signs that have known referents or signifiers.

This signifier or referent can be nearly anything: it can be an object itself, something that is relational about one object to another, something that is metaphysical (not an object), a relation of something metaphysical to another metaphysical concept or idea, or how an object moves through space or metaphysical space if that has form; anyway, this offering of these signs can be received and hopefully understood by someone who is intended to be a recipient, who will hopefully take the rules and conventions he has learned about being a recipient of these ordered "signs" and sets to looking at them and their ordering within the accepted system and will adjudge the best he can what the meaning is—an understood meaning that takes into account the shared culture, the context within which it exists, the usual intent from the offeror himself (if known to the recipient) and then takes into account how the individual person expresses himself within the culture to where individual expressions can deviate from a generic cultural understanding of those signs and what the individual himself meant to express and so one takes these symbols, signs, the formal arrangement therein, and then the other formal arrangements of signs directed towards the first signs, and so the offeror has the vast network of standardization and rules and learning and decides he really has nothing to go on but the expectation of the person receiving all these signs divining verbal tone that would just, like, be totally easy to understand if only the recipient of the signs could hear that person three thousand miles away talking to a computer screen.

And now I'm impressed with myself that I had the restraint not to post that.
Only Chad is allowed to make posts this long in this thread. Tia

So, any of the people who don't think the Raiders should break the bank, if necessary, for Mendoza content to enter next season with Kenny Pickett under center?

Believe it or not someone might be able to talk me into it. He's 27 and, I think it's fair to say he didn't get a fair shake under Tomlin/Canada. Is there a Darnold-esque path forward with him and the "right" coaching staff.

You have three hours to convince me before I sober up.

Eagles, Texans, Giants, Chiefs. That's 3 losses for sure and very likely a 4th. If the Raiders lose to the Giants and lose the other 3 games too, Vegas is picked #1.

Mendoza, here we come!
You're the kind of guy who goes up to the pitcher in the seventh inning of a no-hitter and says "Dude, you've got a no-hitter going! That's gotta be kinda stressful if you stop to think about it."

Pickett is a Super Bowl winning QB.

:lmao:

Nice. Unfortunately, and thankfully, you missed the deadline.

This channel came up on my YouTube feed, and I subscribed to it lol.

It's this part of the NFL season where I get into Tankathon, and the Raiders are in the pole position when it comes to the #1 overall pick. Last week, I picked out a stat of who would position themselves up the Tankathon ranking or seeding due to sacks taken. It was between Cam Ward and Geno Smith. I imagined that if Smith had won that week in sacks taken, that would put the Raiders closer to pole position in Tankathon.

AND IT HAD.

Ward and Smith are now TIED at sacks taken with 46 each, with Smith taking 3 or more to Wards single sack last week. What I like about Tankathon is that you can find the suck somewhere say between QB's in like being the most sacked QB in December, and make it a horse race.

AND GENO IS NOW NECK AND NECK.

But wait, now Geno is limping down the stretch, They have to change horses midstream...

The YouTube guy's hope was that Geno would start the rest of the season to secure Tankathon for the #1 overall pick, which would assure Pete Carroll being fired since he hates him, he hates Geno since Geno hates playing for the Raiders and hates the fans, but now is worried now that Geno is his observation is faking injury at least at what he predicted last week, and Kenny Pickett against the tanking Eagles who have lost three consecutive games now has a Kenny Pickett revenge game.

Tankathon is a race to the bottom to where you can wind up at the top.

Will the Raiders blow this?

The Raiders will blow this. It’s not even a question.

Sounds like Diego Pavia would like to be a Raider...

"What NFL team do I want to play for? Let me think. Well, I got a few options," Pavia said. "One, anywhere that needs a QB, but this is where I would like to go: Las Vegas Raiders, so I can play with Maxx Crosby... He would control the defense. I would get the offense. And we would win."

Who?

No day 2 QB prospects, please.

Really? He's a Heisman trophy finalist.

I don't want Dollar General Francisco Mendoza!!!

Really? He's a Heisman trophy finalist.
Kyle Murray, Marcus Mariotta, Jameis Winston, Johnny Manziel, Sam Bradford, Tim Tebow, Troy Smith, Matt Leinart, Jason White, Eric Crouch, Chris Weinke, Danny Wuerffel, Charlie Wad, Gino Toretta, Ty Detmer.

Maybe I don't want Mendoza o_O
He is short so I'm sure that will drop his stock by a lot, but for a late round flyer, why not.

I'm mostly concerned the Raiders will win a game yet, it's what they do.

My top two choices are Mendoza and Moore, sure hope that Raiders land a top two spot.

One win - ONE - moves us down to #7. Dollars to donuts Jaxon Dart pulls up lame in two weeks.

I am holding Jameis for sure because I don’t even know if Mahomie rolls Week 17. Nothing would thrill me more than to miraculously make the finals and start Jameis for the roller coaster

Second time Raiders have been shut out 31-0 this year and had less than 100 yards of total offense. It's really hard not to have 100 yards of total offense in a game once nevermind twice. Hard to believe that after the last 23 years of sucktitude that now is rock bottom.

Stupid Giants
edit: That one's over but doesn't really matter, we play them in 2 weeks and that will be the deciding game.
Raiders will win by 30 probably with super trooper at QB. Reigniting all of the ridiculous AOC is awesome talk.
My biggest worry is either Pickett or AOC will get hot to end the season and the Raiders making yet another stupid decision this off-season.

Great day today!
Raiders do exactly what they needed to do.
Chiefs ELIMINATED!

Dart could single handedly beat the Raiders on his own. Dudes a franchise QB like we haven’t had since….

I honestly believe Grandpa Pete doesn't want Mendoza, or any top QB prospect because it could create an unfavorable power dynamic.

A top rookie QB has far more guarantees over the next three years than Pete and, push-comes-to-shove Pete knows he'll have to concede to a 21 year old kid, or the F.O. backing the kid and, I don't think Pete's ego will allow that.

I think Pete wants another Mike Flynn and some day 2/3 QB prospect.

I don't think Mendoza has the kind of ego to make that an issue but, Tom Brady sure does.

Don’t fret. The Raiders won’t let us down and will make the usual many horrible decisions.

FBGs needs to add a combo laugh and cry emoji

The offense looked competent on like 50% of the plays. This is an OL problem almost exclusively.
I think they said yesterday that the average point of contact on Raiders running plays is the worst of any team in the last 10 years.
Only 10 years?

That's better than I thought.
The team with the worst point of contact from 10 years ago… Raiders, probably.
Meh.

Lowest offensive points per game scored once 2009. Now, that's aiming big.
