Lesean McCoy? How concerned are we? (1 Viewer)

His OC was quoted earlier today saying he did not want him out there at 85% if it meant risking hampering him for rest of the season. I totally agree so while I'd like this to be nothing the reality is it's probably a little something and I'd like to see him sit this week.

A little worried with this 4 week absence news however, but if he's really 85% I'd have to think he's closer than that.

It certainly could be that they rest him for 4 weeks. But what doesn't make sense about that timeline is that they're still hopeful he can play this week. Perhaps that's just Rex not tipping his hand about the starting RB this week. But if you're hopeful a guy is going to play on Sunday, why could the injury be one of 4 week recovery? That just doesn't make any sense. It shouldn't be an all or nothing type of injury.

Coaches never give honest injury reports so this is pretty typical.  The Bills will be more worried about having Shady at full strength with no risk of re-injury down the stretch and into the playoffs than they are about the next few weeks.

Update live just now from Ian Rappaport:

not a serious injury, McCoy is pushing to play.

"At this point there is a very good chance that he'll be out there and play this Sunday"

if we assume McCoy is out and Gillislee gets the start, what can we expect vs. the Miami def.  They are 5th against the run and their starting safety is out.  Yet Tyrod and the Buf offense are not a strong aerial attack.  the past 3 weeks: DMurray ran for 121 while LBell was held to 53.  JHill + Gio combined for 88.

Josina Anderson is normally pretty dead on with McCoy information, she has an in with someone.  Although Ian Rappaport has also been solid this year.  Now whatever Schefter says go opposite.

F that. Play. There is no guarntee to win any game in the nfl. Sitting your best player because u think u can win without him isnt what teams do
I think he probably means for his fantasy team.

I know what he means, if I'm a Shady owner I'd much rather they keep him out until he's 100% instead of risking re-injury and/or poor play because of the hammy.

Rofl @ Schaffer

You've answered my 1st question.

Rappaport Vs Josina - round 1!

Of course they could both be right: minor injury, McCoy pushing to play, Bills keep him out.

For the record i would totally sniff josinas bike seat. And shes the chic who shaved her head
Wow, I had no idea she shaved her head and had to look it up. So I take it that's a wig she wears daily?  I'm thinking when she gets home it goes something like:https://video.search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?fr=yhs-mozilla-003&hsimp=yhs-003&hspart=mozilla&p=keenan+ivory+wayans+movie+where+girl+takes+stuff+off#id=3&vid=04ba66db38c0cf33449a906584d46b7c&action=click

BREAKING: LeSean McCoy set to retire due to minor hamstring injury.
:lmao:

ok rotoworld now parroting Josina Anderson with tha could miss multiple weeks line.

Weird they didn't parrot Rappaport too.

Now it's just a friggin mystery, but I looked up Josina and she is very attractive indeed. More so with hair, but that's a personal preference. If you like your wimmens bald I don't judge.

In real life? Sure. But I'm primarily concerned with my make believe team. I'd rather him not re-aggravate it/ make it worse.
It's not good to play him in either scenario. He didn't perform well last year under the same circumstances. It wouldn't be beneficial for the team or fantasy for him to be playing like that. Last year he re-aggravated his hamstring in week 3 vs Miami in which he ran 11 times for 19 yards. He then missed weeks 4 & 5. He came back and performed at a higher level until his production declined and he missed the last game of the year. It bothered him all year.

I'd prefer to have 100% of an excellent product for 6 weeks rather than 70% for 10. It may not sound right... but McCoy is helping teams win right now. If playing injured and you start him, how many points, realistically, is he going to get you? Is that going to be enough to win? Because with an injured hamstring he will be performing at a level of production that you should be able to acquire via WW or trade at a reasonable price.

Lmfao - now the NFL Network goes back to Rappaport and asks about the report of McCoy being out 4 weeks and he said this is "a very minor strain" and "if the Bills hold him out this week it'll be purely precautionary", but reiterated that "Shady is pushing hard to play" so this is shaping up to be a gametime decision.

i cannot recall a time when two reporters were being called out by a network and played off each other.

Very entertaining - I love the modern age of twitter with live reporting.

With Woods, Clay and McCoy banged up, I am not feeling good about starting Gillislee
He'll get touches, not many RB's out there.  The Bills run game has been productive, The line has been solid.  The threat of Tyrod running also has been opening some things up.  If they put Bush on the field at the same time perhaps? it creates a new wrinkle.  I'm not sure how well Miami has been playing on the front seven however.

freaking soap opera this one

The Associated Press' John Wawrow reports "a person with direct knowledge of LeSean McCoy's hamstring injury" told him that McCoy will be a "game-time decision" Week 7 against Miami.

This contradicts a report from ESPN's Josina Anderson, who reported McCoy isn't expected to play and could miss multiple weeks. Wawrow isn't a typical Rotoworld source, but it's worth noting nonetheless. At the end of the day, we trust Anderson's report, and the Bills will likely hold McCoy out to prevent him from further injuring his hamstring in a very winnable game against the Dolphins' bottom-barrel defense. It's a tough game for McCoy owners to miss out on, but Mike Gillislee is a very capable fill-in and an immediate plug-and-play RB2.

Hammy's are tricky.  Even if he is fine to play, why risk losing him for the entire season to an aggravation of the hammy? If that were to happen he would be gimpy the rest of the year.

Just let the boy heal up and come back in a couple weeks good as new.

again, nothing is guaranteed in the nfl. they need to win as many games as possible to make the playoffs. even with shady they might only go 1-2 before the bye, and Miami at home just trucked Pittsburgh. If he can go, he will be going.

The GTD report isn't surprising. Coaches don't want to tip their hand, even if everyone knows they are holding 7/2 off suit, and they know that everyone knows. They'll still try to spin it to "keep the other team guessing".

So while I don't have full faith in Anderson's report about him being out a few weeks, I would be very surprised if he plays this weekend.
