Lets talk about the non-PI call on Arizonas TD.... (1 Viewer)

Was it the worst non-PI call of all time? I have been watching 6-8 NFL games a week and plays 1/4 to 1/8 that bad regularly have been called picks.. Im too lazy to post a bunch of videos but 2-3 GB & NE tds this year have been called back on 'pick' plays where literally no contact was made. This jackass locks into and blocks his corner for literally 10 yards (6 of them before the pass is thrown)... and the refs starring right at decide that its legal?? HOW???

Seriously, can anyone say that isn't OPI??

You know who was completely unaffected by that? Sam Shields, who for whatever reason stopped running at the goal line and let Floyd drift into the end zone unabated and unescorted. That's where you should be directing your anger.

Rub plays are very common and rarely called. You say NE has had a couple called back, well that's a very low percentage of the times they have run it. Don't think anything about what 13 (Jaron Brown) did was egregious. You're allowed contact within a yard and contact was initiated around that area. Play starts at the 9. He's at about the 8 with his arms up initiating a block. If that's what happened it's a legal pick play. Anything goes within one yard, doesn't matter if the ball is in the air or not.

That doesn't mean the NFL didn't predetermine Arizona would win. I'm totally on board with you there. Just pick a different play or focus on why the coin didn't flip.

Ya know, to play devil's advocate here, while it's clear that Brown was just trying to clear things out for Fitz, GB was playing bump and run and it's actually the GB defender that puts out his arm and initiates the contact. Perfectly legal since it's in the 5 yard bump zone, but I would think at that point the WR is allowed to push back. Of course Brown kept pushing well beyond 5 yards, but by then Fitz was well clear anyway (he cut under about 3-4 yards downfield).

Should have been called, but nowhere near the worst ever.

Can we talk about Campbell being tackled on the hail mary, too?
Or Freeny tackled here, or at :05 mark https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DY2_T4EB3XM theblatant hands to the face on Campbell (worse than the one that called back PP's 100yd INT)

Or we can choose to not talk about the calls because both teams were recipients of them.
TJ Lang held on this entire play, I was stunned that the flag never came.

Arizona deserved the game. Crazy game.

As a Packer fan, I was seriously pissed at the no call at the time. It was a clear OPI. Casey Hayward (29) might well have been in position to pick it off or knock it down as well.

It appears the officials just decided to swallow their whistles though. Clearly they let penalties go on both sides at the end of that game.

I'm not really sure how I feel about that as a whole. You can say "let the players decide it" and not throw the flag. But if Hayward isn't pushed out the the play, does he deny that TD? If Campbell isn't held does he make the sack? Lang probably doesn't hold there if he wasn't beat.

I felt considerably better the game was decided in OT, where the officials really had nothing to do with that outcome.

If we can talk about the headlock technique on Matthews on the 3rd down conversion just before this ping pong TD?There were holds on both teams all night.

Game wasn't won or lost due to refs.

Whining is unbecoming for a champion. The Packers are an organization known for its class, professionalism and tradition of excellence. Let's act like we've been there before, because we have. The better team won, fairly and squarely, as is (nearly) always the case.

People that complain about people who complain about officiating are the literal worse.

The officiating is garbage, people should be allowed to discuss how ####### terrible it is.

Example, thread by a Packers fan talking about the Cardinals and the officiating. Neglects to mention that on both hail marys at the end of the game the Packers committed absolutely heinous holds against the Cardinals. The game should have ended twice before going into OT. Truly terrible officiating.
