Mark Sanchez eating a hot dog during the game (1 Viewer)

That video was kinda blurry.

Are we even sure he was eating a hot dog? I mean, maybe his nickname shouldn't be Sanchise, it should be Ron Sanchez or Mark Jeremy.

Can I ask again for you to...POST IT!!!!!!I heard him with my own ears, I'm wondering if there was another public statement I didn't hear...Go.
It was on mike and mike this morning. I don't have a link, anyone who watched can verify it. If you find a replay of the show it woulda been somewhere round 8:00

they just played a sound bite on 1050 with him saying just that "disrespect blah blah blah". I will see if I can hunt it down.

if you are an insider you can click on the 8:00 jason stark link,It is a clip from Rex on the Michael Kay show in New York.

Greenie says, full disclosure, the JETS are upset with Mark Sanchez for eating a hot dog on the sideline

Rex: "Yeah I have a problem with it, because there are other things that we have to eat and i just don't want any player, anyone, to disrespect the game. And I think sometimes it can be taken that way. I don't think that was his intention."

Clearly Rex does not think this is the end of the world, but he does think it is an issue and does have a problem with the blatant wiener gobbling. Anyone in hear trying to say this is a fabricated non issue has to convince me that they are a more viable source of what is and what is not acceptable on the sidelines then Rex Ryan.

Yeah, that was pretty much exactly what I said...

So, essentially, Ryan is upset that Sanchez wasn't eating one the healthier, pre-selected options. That's kind of funny coming from Ryan.

From what Golic says it has more to do with appearance. Fans eat hot dogs, athletes in the game grab something more nutritional, less sloppy, and less fanlike.I think it is odd, a wiener is a perfectly good option. But his seems to be how it is viewed in the NFL

I still want to know where he got the wiener too. Those things are not just flopping around the sidelines waiting to be eaten.

I think it would be awesome if next game he whipped out a big-### hamburger and started chomping down on the sidelines.

Better yet, call his own number from the 2, and after scrambling in for a score, pull a hot dog out of his sock (not gonna say pants) and start eating it in the end zone, then spike it.

M

shameless wiener bump
You're STILL twisting Rex's words a bit and not accounting for the fact that he has to say certain things otherwise the same Whackos (not you) will waste time and carry on about how "rex doesn't care about the game and players eating Weiners".....

But.... Carry on.

how did i twist rex's words?I repeated what he said

and i disagree on he has to say something, if something is a non issue a coach says "that is a non issue"

45 players a game

16 games a year

32 teams

last year that is 23040 players and we did not see one eat a wiener on the sidelines. Wieners are all over stadiums, players are hungry, if this is no big deal i wonder WHY it is so rare?????

But hey, if you think that the Shark Pool knows more about what goes on in a football game than ex players and a head coach, well I guess nothing I say will convince you otherwise

lol we have such stupid threads. He was hungry... so he ate a hot dog. I can't wait for the boring no fun old schoolers to rip him a new one calling it a classless act.
 Eating a hot dog on the sideline is an old school move. Cris Carter talked about it. Just better to be a little more discreet. Kind of fun. But total non issue.J

Rex Ryan feels differently
You're embarrassing yourself, son.Rex did the PC thing and made mention that he'd have a talk with Sanchez about it.If 99% of the people understand that it is a non- issue, why is it so difficult to get through your thick head? You've made continuous bumps in this thread as if it really bothers you that more people aren't outraged about it. You can kick and scream and jump up and down in your twisted panties all you want. This stopes being a story on Monday morning. Nobody cares.

yeswhen i think Rex Ryan I think PCSo far his coaching career has been a model of just saying what coaches are expected to say. There's no PC police demanding he say that he has a problem with it. If he didn't he could have said "it was not a great idea, but it really doesn't matter much" and he would not have been publicly chastised, condemned, called to task, or in any other way hounded by the fictitious PC police.

Ryan fired back Tuesday: "I don't know this Channing Crowder. All I know is that he's all tatted up, so I guess I ought to be nervous about him." He also said Crowder was wrong about not winning anything in June because preparation wins championships, and if he were younger, "I'd probably handle him myself."

yup

I can see where Rex is obviously TERRIFIED of saying anything wrong. There's no way he'd have the guts to come out and say this was no big deal if he felt it. The above pretty much comes straight from the handbook of PC things to say about other teams players.

PLEASE

one of the things I LOVE about Rex is exactly that, the dude speaks from his heart. Don't strip that away from him just to try and downplay wienergate

I think part of your problem is you don't "Get" Rex Ryan... He's a FUNNY DUDE.You're taking things he says way too literally, obviously without watching the press conferences and facial expressions... Hint - When he says " I've walked over tougher guys than Channing Crowder to get to a fight".. ITS A JOKE.I promise you he's laughing his ### off over this hot dog thing and the whole team is getting mileage out of it at practice....

LOL... Just as I was typing the Crowder stuff....You don't GET Rex Ryan AT ALL....He's a practical Joker..... The guy is hilarious and you're falling for every bit he's got going.Instead of reading what he says - try to find actual video footage - It's FUNNIER!!!!!

I saw it, many times, it was funny but was it PC???or waitare we switching gears nowhe did not say that because the PC police forced him too, the entire interview was a joke!got yajust admit it, rex is annoyed, it was a stupid thing to do, and while not the end of the world, there's a reason people don;t gobble wieners on the NFL sidelines all the time.perhaps everyone who knows better then Rex about wiener etiquette should huddle up and get on the same page to figure out why we think Rex didn't mean what he said in an interview. I don;t think Rex would joke about people respecting the game, those were his words. Do you think that's a topic he wants to practical joke on? I also don't think Rex would feel obligated to say things he did not feel.

for the record I like Sanchez, I love Rex, and I am fond of wieners.
Almost sig worthy. Almost.
I do my best!I have to say though, the people fighting this have really stretched it into a much bigger deal than it needed to be. I have used up almost all my wiener energy reserves. He did a minor screw up that can be seen as a slight, his coach said they'll handle it, he'll probably get razzed about it, maybe have to grill hot dogs for the team, whatever. It's not the end of the world, but neither is it a non issue.I see a wiener endorsement in Sanzhez's future.I think this week I'll make wieners in crescent rolls (aka pigs in a blanket to some people) to munch on while watching the games. In a tribute to Mark

MMMM those are good chips :thumbup:Props to Sanchez for making a positive out of this pseudo-controversy. -QG

This is the stupidest, non-issue issue I think I have ever seen! I am a vegetarian and even I am not insulted by Sanchez eating a hot dog. Aren't hog dogs "American like Apple pie..."? Do teams sell hotdogs at their own stadiums? If they are unhealthy then why do they sell them to fans? Someone, please tell me when Hotdogs became "anti-football" or "anti-NFL"?????

I just can't argue on this topic.a 22 year old tried to discretely eat something on the sideline of a football game, and this is somehow news. This has already expended waaaaay much more energy than is representative of how much I really don't care. I'm a Pats fan, and will take any opportunity to dump on the Jets, but this is beneath where any of us should care.
I agree. This is something to laugh about, for the team to make fun of him about. But people are treating it like he got a DUI. Brandon Marshall gets arrested going to the bathroom, and this rookie QB ate a hotdog. Seriously?I've seen reports where the team went to him, and said if you get hungry try a powerbar. Which is probably a good idea. I'm sure he'll eat a little better next time during a game, and all in all it was worth a good laugh. But when the NFL is full of ex-cons, it's hard to come down on a rookie for eating a hotdog.
listen, no one is saying it is a DUI. But to act like there's no wiener issue to discuss is disingenuous. This is not the end of the world, but as Rex said, it is not a good thing and he'll take care of it.So your wiener deflection tactics, while admirable, are not going to work.
I assume you are joking. If not, then please explain what the problem is? Is it eating at all on the sidelines? Or is there something about a hotdog that specifically insults the game of football? No one has explained it yet.

They were murdering the Raiders, he was hungry, and he even tried to hide it to not raise a controversy. What's the big deal? Like somebody already said if he were eating a power bar or sunflower seeds would all you old hens still be in an uproar?

There's only one old hen here who has his/her panties all twisted about this. Everyone else realizes it is a harmless, non-story. In fact, I'll bet sanchez turns this into an endorsment deal.

Dunno if Sanchez will be calling Oscar Meyer or not, but Hampton needs to get in touch with the people at Herr's, that's for sure.Match made in heaven. "The Big Snak for Da Big Snack."

It seemed pretty clear he was trying to hide it. My guess - he was hungry.Didn't the Round Mound of 4th Down used to carry a Snickers Bar in his sock?-QG
So if he ate a Power Bar, no problem, right? The issue is not that he ate, but that he ate a hot dog. No issue in my book unless you think eating a hot dog is showing up the other side, in which case I'm for that too because the Raiders are a joke.
Um, I didn't express a problem with him eating the Hot Dog :fishing: RMo4D btw is Todd Sauberbrun of YOUR FLORIDA TUSKERS!Though maybe I'm thinking of a different player.-QG
I am pretty sure it was Mitch Berger with the Snickers (not sure why I know that).
