Marvel Contest of Champions - Time Killer (1 Viewer)

There is a rumor running around that on Black Friday you will be able to buy crystals for less shards.

Supposedly the 1st 4* crystal will be 500 shards, 2nd will be 1000, 3rd will be 1500, then back to regular price.

No idea if this is actually true, but I recommend holding your shards until Friday just in case.

Kabam hasn't acknowledged these rumors one way or the other. I believe it started from that fiasco a week or two ago when people were getting offers for 4* crystals for 500 shards, and kabam said it was a mistake and that they were testing out "future promotions." Would make sense with Black Friday and all. I hope it is true, wish I had more shards if it is. Only at like 1100 now.

 
Same here. I figure we get at least 375 more from SA event, we get to open a number of other crystals when new one starts, and AQ rewards will hopefully push us up above 2000. I am going to do whatever I can to grab those 200 from the Jessica Jones event too. I don't think I will be able to get to 3000 by Friday, but I am going to try.

 
I dont think kabam will do this promotion, because it wont generate revenue. These are offered to new players to give them a head start, so they close the gap with existing players a bit.

Thats why the drop rates for new players are great (im at 160 phc's without a 4 and just a few 3's). Mmxiv guys' drop rate is 1/200, go figure.

If kabam does a black friday thing it will cost bucks. Would be nice to get a shards deal, but kabam and doing something for the vets? Neh

As greedy as they come off at times, I could see them doing 1 for 1000 shards. Can't imagine them doing 3 straight discounted.

Half remaining. Realizing though that if you wait til opponent gets to red it's too late. When the timer hits zero the game unpauses for a second to allow opponent to use their red.

But if you close the app after pausing? I think that might work.
I'll see if I can try that on the bonus map.
I just tried this on the bonus map. Opponent and and I were both about 50% health and he got his red, I paused and force closed the app. Re-opened, went back to the AQ map, my SIM still had 50% health but opponent was back to 100%.

I added a few then realized a majority of enemies can trigger willpower in one way or another. Any stun, bleed, etc all trigger it. Obviously antman and cap are the two best, as they either stack or revive health without even having to be hit.

I added a few then realized a majority of enemies can trigger willpower in one way or another. Any stun, bleed, etc all trigger it. Obviously antman and cap are the two best, as they either stack or revive health without even having to be hit.
It needs to be enough to outweigh the damage taken obviously. For example I don't think stuns are a great way to heal as you're usually going to get hit quite a few times in the process. My thought was more informational "let this special hit you and you will gain a lot more than you lose" kind of thing.

Soooo that jug is a NIGHTMARE. Solo'd through WS and marvel, ended both with full health. Jug is very tricky to get his timing perfect, and unlike the other two there is just about zero room for error. He stuns somewhat frequently when he does connect, and unless you're at like 75% health and up, preferably with armor up, it's game over. I think I'll wait a bit and save up more revives before trying again. Hopefully have some 4*s that have synergy with strange. Other than SW I brought 2 and 3*s

 
You can go for the perfect block synergies. I went for crit damage synergies, was great for everything but less for Wolverine.

Jugg gave me a hard time too, i believe about 4 revives. Problem is that there is no room for error, but cant block too much otherwise you get cornered. Hang on there, for me he was the 2nd hardest.

I guess some are spending here and there, but that wont be much. For all i know we are just using what we get. I have used 1 or 2 revives last few AQ's.

Last AQ we did intentionally drop tiers, Super Human tier is not worth the effort. 1 week of heavy fighting for an alpha i crap. This AQ we ranked 29, and had to start from map 1. Rewards in lower tiers are so much better, and takes no effort at all.

Real shame this is the only way to make AQ worthwhile, and really blows it for a load of lower alliances.

How many revives do you have?
I redid my masteries and out a lot into the blocking stuff. Just brought strange and everyone that he has synergy with. The annoying thing is I really felt like I was timing the blocks right for parry, but somehow I would get stunned.I have 27 revives now, used one on jug then quit after getting killed again so fast.

AQ is broken. We did the following maps this week: 1-2-3-3-3, and ranked higher then other alliances who do harder maps. It doesn't matter if you do harder maps, 5x map 5, the higher alliances will get more points for less work. It's all because of the prestige.

Looks like any 3+ mil alliance dropping to training tier will get more points, whatever you do.

That's why the whole system is crap. May sound strange but i feel bad that alliances like i'm in are breaking the fun for a lot of other alliances, who do need those good rewards. Why doesn't Kabam just give better rewards for each higher tier? That would solve the whole problem.

 
I thought the better rewards for training tier was to give us a chance to catch up a little. I think Kabam would lower the training tier prizes before they raised them for the higher tiers.

Agree that AQ is broken. Waiting to see how they fix this.

 
About prestige. Our prestige last week went so high that map 3 was almost too difficult for us (I used all my items this past week and had a lot saved).

In that situation would you recommend we continue with map 3, and let our prestige rise and fall naturally, or purposely throw all 3 groups to drop ASAP, or drop to map 2, or something else?

Basically agree with this, and it's making me not really care that much about AQs at all at this point.

Yea, sounds like we actually accomplished more than you guys did, but prestige gave us 0% chance to surpass you.

I think they need to make the tier system based on milestones. Maybe give some rank rewards similar to arena to give the top alliances a little extra to encourage them to keep paying. Hit 10M points? You get the basic 4* and move to the next tier. Now the basic 4* is the minimum reward as long as you keep a certain amount of points. The rewards just get better as you score more points. Gives no incentive to tank, and more incentive for alliances like us to drop a little money to get to the next reward level.

 
Bottom line is that nobody is catching up to the top alliances unless they spend a lot of $$$ AND spend a lot of time grinding.

 
Yep. Prestige is based on top 5 champ of each player. So to catch up you need to rank 4*'s to lvl 4 in a faster rates then the higher alliances. But that is not possible since you can only get 1 every 9 days.

Everyone here has at least 2 4*'s at rank 4, several 5 or more. In a few days i'll have 5 too. Lets assume you need 3 more, that would take 3 months, before you get near the same prestige. In the mean time we will be getting rewards and dupes that increase the prestige.

Possible to catch up? Yes. Within a few months? Very unlikely.

This is for every alliance that hits the tier wall.

 
Not possible unless lucky. I have yet to pull a T4 from an AQ crystal. Given that upper alliances accumulate these items faster than lower alliances can, it is almost impossible to catch up. The only exception is being an active, strong player within an average alliance (like you woot) and join a strong alliance.

This is arguably the biggest load of BS that kabam has pulled to date. There's zero rationale behind it other than too many people beating the realm without spending units/money. It's like they're trying to chase away customers.

So what happens to items over the cap when they institute this, they just go away or go into an overflow that never refillls? And if you earn new ones like these free every four hour crystals they just disappear? That's beyond dumb if so. Especially since the health pots are so worthless. You need 40 of those things just to heal a 3/30 4* and you are limited to 15 items in an AQ anyway!

Also, explain to me what you get out of Realm of Legends for beating it? My understanding was you get a few unique 4*'s that are undupable? Anything else worthwhile?

Yes, it sure is. The biggest problem is Wolverine. All other champs can be handled with any champ, might take 0 or more revives. Wolverine regens more then you can do damage (up to regen 9500 health per tic), so you need someone who can do more then that, counter attack it, or prevent his regens. His regen is triggered by damage, so he does not regen when he hits you. Crit hits triggers it faster.

There are several proven tactics to work around this:

  • Strange, L3 to prevents Wolverine from regen after getting hit. You can give a few hits right after using the L3, effect works for ±6 sec. So keep blocking, evading and parry till L3 is back up, and repeat after repeat. Very slow progress but effective. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMwmJqf0XE8
  • Star-Lord, the higher his combo the more damage he does. Getting a huge combo will eventually take more health then regen does. And a 500+ combo does HUGH damage. Need very good skills though. At a 670 hit combo a L2 gives 123k damage.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGkmvMcnyjE
  • Guillotine, her L2 turns positive effects into negative effects. So after launching the L2, keep hitting Wolverine will he regens. And the amount of regen is given as damage. The more times you hit him, the more the tries to regen and kills himself. Watch this to see how fast he regens, but also how effective she is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=om-q6RRTDng
  • Magneto (havent tried it myself in any fight, technically could work). His L2/L3 gives a heal block, so Wolverine cannot regen for a certain time. Problem is you need your next L2/L3 to be ready before heal block is stopped. I don't know if you can hit him enough times during the heal block. If not, he regens back in a matter or seconds and back to where you started
  • Electro, just let Wolverine hit you, easy as that. For each hit taken, 33% of your damage is given to the opponent too. This will not trigger his regen, so he kills himself eventually. Be sure to spend hundreds/thousands of revives (an thus a lot of money). This is how BrutalDLX "beat" him.
If you don't have Strange, i would go for Guillotine. Make sure you have block province synergies and masteries, so you can block without(?) damage which causes your power level to increase. Otherwise i don't think you'll survive long enough. Especially when Wolverine has 50%+ health he dashes like there's no tomorrow.

By the way, you don't need to rush before the item cap. Everything you have will still be there, only new items will not be added. So before the cap is implemented you can save some more, and do RoL when you've got the team for it.

This is arguably the biggest load of BS that kabam has pulled to date. There's zero rationale behind it other than too many people beating the realm without spending units/money. It's like they're trying to chase away customers.
What have they been smoking? Pass me some of that too.

If they put these caps in, it will probably be the final straw that drives me away

 
I was thinking about it, but I wouldn't drop over $10 on the game. It's hard for me to justify putting $5 into the game. But that would only net me 1 T4, and I need about 6 of them (IP and WS stuck at 3/30).

I tried the T4 arena, but don't have the manpower to reach the higher milestones. Right now I'm leaning towards not doing it, based on my situation.

 
I did it.

Now, its all about deciding who to upgrade to 4/40. Based on what people said online, looks like Dr. Strange is the choice, even though I don't have him duped. Thing is, I never really use him.

So, for the realm, looks like taking 4* Strange, 3* Strange, and 3* Scarlet Witch will get me block proficiency high enough that all blocks = 0 damage. (PS, this works for alliance quests too!)

So, about Strange... what else is best to bring.

I could do 4* Black Widow and 4* Hawkeye... adding 10% power gain. This might make it go faster waiting for Strange's meter to fill.

I could do 4* Thor and 4* Jugg, adding 17% armor and 5% attack.

I could do 4* Thor and 4* Hulk, adding 17% armor and 25% crit damage AND giving me a poison immune guy with a class advantage for the Scarlet Witch fight.

There are a few other combos, not sure what the last 2 I should go with are. Unfortunately I do not have the chick with the souls and sword for the Wolverine fight. I've heard Scarlet Witch can be a pain, so I'd like to get a poison immune champ in there. I have 4* 3/30 Hulk unduped, Ms. Marvel duped, and The Vision duped twice. Ms. Marvel is awesome to fight with, but her synergies with the others are kinda meh. Hulk gives that +25% crit which should come in handy. The Vision's are also kinda meh, although maybe I could work something out with him.

Thoughts?

Also, am I mostly going to be fighting with the 4/40, or can the others hang in given the block proficiency thing?
