Matt Hasselbeck Fans - Does he talk with a "Boston Accent"? (1 Viewer)

You've probably seen Hasselbeck on the Expedia commercial.

He's talking about his hometown of Boston. He goes from speaking with no accent to a forced sounding "Quincy Mahhket" , Mahhtha Vinyahhd" type thing.

My question is, how does he normally talk? I've never heard the Boston accent until this commercial.

What say you?

Hasselbeck's a pretty funny guy in those commercials. The one where he's calling out signals and he orders the Caesar Salad, "dressing on the side though" is funny stuff. That said, pretty sure he just puts on the Boston accent to say those places in the commercial. It does come pretty natural to him.

FWIW I've had Hasselbeck on the roster many seasons and haven't heard him talk with an accent previously.

god, i hope not. as stupid as a person sounds when they speak w/ a Bahston accent, faking the accent is even more stupid.

no - he doesn't talk with an accent....funny guy though, probably added it for the commercial.

Ironically, the Boston accent isn't as prevalent in Boston as it is in the surrounding areas. If you're born and raised in Boston, you aren't likely to have as heavy an accent as you would if you were raised twenty minutes down the road in any direction.

He grew up in Boston, went to HS there, college there. But when he says Quincy Market, its a little stressed.

I'm from Boston.

Funny this post sprang up because when I saw that commercial I thought he was coming in with a little extra mustard on the accent. Those few parts definetly stand out (i.e. the accent isn't always there) and as some who has been unable to pronounce an R correctly his entire life you can always tell when someone has the real thing (saying the words wicked pissah is another giveaway).
