Finally, a step in the right direction.

Now we need to fire all the scouts and anyone else who has been involved with this franchise for 5+ years.

Get rid of them all.

Will take at least 3 years to rebuild with the lack of talent and money they currently have.

What are the odds Al Davis hires Millen to run the Raiders?

LIFE IS GOOD AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :pickle: :excited:
All good things must come to an end. In the spirit of sportsmanship this Packer fan welcomes you Lion fans back into the division and the NFL. I admire your ability to have borne your long suffering with so much dignity. See i know a little bit about long suffering having lived through Bengston, Devine, Starr, Gregg, and Infante.

THANK YOU BILL FORD, JR. for having some balls and finally calling it like it is.

I still think Sr. and Jr. had the statement that went public all planned....but

I'm so excited right now I can't even believe its happening.......YAAAAAAAAAAAAAHOOOOOOOOOOO!

  :excited: :pickle:

This is only half the battle. Now Ford needs to find a suitable replacement.

In Ford I DO NOT trust. Hopefully Ford hands it over to somebody who knows what he's doing.

Too bad the Lions still suck though...How many years will it take to rebuild that mess?
It actually shouldn't take too long... As bad as Millen was on draft day, there are some talented players on the field. They need better coaching (from top to bottom) and some key components added, which may be easier to find than people think. As early as next season I could see them start to turn it around IF they hire a GM (a good GM) who makes moves immediately.

Just the first step of many, many steps needed to turn this franchise around.

Next up, turning the team over to Bill Jr.

This move won't make them any better this year, but it had to be done. It would've been interesting to see what the fans would've done at the next home game had this not happened.

May I suggest giving the coaching and GM reigns over to Mike Sherman.

Please Bring in Cowher. Let him Coach out the rest of the season. Then put him in charge of talent next year.

No please don't.

This is only half 99% of the battle.
Fixed.
I don't believe that. Millen has been a dark cloud hanging over this franchise for too long to remember. Think about how the players feel right now....if we're excited you can imagine how they are feeling, being the joke of the league sucks. Maybe they can actually go out and play with some confidence that things are going to get better starting today.I understand this doesn't change anything as far as what they have physically been doing, but it has to help mentally knowing the terd has finally been released and flushed away.

Millen is gone.. great! Really that was the easy part.... and should of happened years and years ago. The Lions ownership hiring someone qualified and who knows what they are doing will be the hard part. It might be hard to find a worse GM than Matt Millen.. but if it is possible... they Lions will find a way to do it.

You really trust Ford Sr to put somebody in place much better?Until I see it, I don't.

I hope he goes to the league for help this time around.
Um, I think you'd have to search the universe to find somebody worse, don't you?
Obviously. But firing millen isn't going to magically turn the Lions into a playoff team. This next hire is very important.

Funny, I was just thinking about how much the NFL misses his presence. The league just isn't as interesting without him.

Was Cowher in charge of personnel decisions in Pitt? Great coach, but not sure he's really the answer for the GM position. The Lions need to go with a safe, proven personnel guy this time around.

Somewhere in the world, Matt Millen is saying to himself:

"But WHY???!!??"

As a Lions fan I am happy for this news, finally. But my enthusiasm is tempered because I expect several more very bad seasons before the Lions can field a respectable team.

This team has less talent than an expansion team, and is weighed down by very bad salary cap management. Be prepared that the worst is yet to come.

Agreed, but hopefully Sr. is going to let Jr. run the show and find someone with some experience this time. This is a step in the right direction after taking 8 yrs of steps backward.

Casserly? Don't know much about him but he's available.

What is the Shark Pool going to do over the next few drafts when Detroit stops taking WRs in the 1st round?
