mid to late 4th RD RB's.....Ahman, Duece, AP, Caddy (1 Viewer)

If you are in a PPR league and you are in a position to possibly draft one of these guys or you already did - - - who would you take and why or who did you take and why?

Specifically, for anyone with LT2 on board, a serviceable #2 RB is needed and hopefully, one of these 4th rounders (per ADP) might fit the bill.

Ahman - appears to be the guy in HOU, but will Dayne vulture TD's?

Duece - the Reggie Bush factor scares me

Adrian Peterson - will split carries in MIN

Caddy - appears to be the guy in TB, but will his goal line TD's be vultured?

Which one would you take and why?

I can't tell you which one I would take, but I can tell you which one I did take in that exact situation.

Caddy.

The others seemed to have less of an upside to me.

i can't disagree more. Caddy has been terrible for a long time now. there's no reason to believe that he will miraculously improve this year. i would take caddy LAST amongst that list.

Agreed.Amongst that list (and you did say it was a PPR league) I'd go:Deuce > Ahman > AP >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> CaddyNow if it were not a PPR league I'd go:Deuce > AP > Ahman >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Caddy

:lmao: @ 1 year being a "long time".
1 year? how about since week 4 of his rookie year? (while that's still less than 2 years - it's enough to show me he isn't in a situation to succeed)

But when has he ever been really good?

games 1-3 of his rookie campaign.i'm going to create the alias "Reggie Ball Made Calvin Johnson" just for you

Not what I'm arguing in the slightest. But there is middle ground in between "terrible" and "really good".

Good luck with this projection, if I still had a spot in my league you could have an invite we can always use a few more guppies.

I've had Caddy for the last 2 years and he has done next to nothing. I plan to take a tazer to the draft with me this year and if the word Caddy start to come out of my mouth - I will tazer myself. I don't care what round it is. I don't want Williams anymore. I think Duece, Green, AP and then Caddy.

In a PPR Caddy will likely have the most receptions out of any of these guys except maybe Ahman. http://www.tbo.com/sports/bucs/MGBVH94KN4F.html

Garcia is alot better than TB QB's last year and the OL has improved, plus there hasn't been any mention of Caddy being hurt yet this year, I'd go:

Non-PPR

AD/Deuce/Caddy/Ahman

PPR

AD/Caddy/Deuce/Ahman

Bucs have a very easy running schedule this year, last year was the perfect storm of problems for Caddy and Co.

AP should be #1 on that list. He's the one guy from that group with a legit shot at being a top 10 or even a top 5 RB. No, not to start the season, but by the end, when you may need him most, he could be tremendous. You can draft those other guys if you wanna play it "safe", but AP has very little risk, IMO, with TREMENDOUS upside. At the spot where he's being drafted (in the same tier as those RB's, no less), he's a no-brainer pick for me. If you still feel like having someone that can get you points, go get Jordan or Dunn or Fred Taylor even later. But AP is the pick here, hands down.

Nothing too compelling here...I am leaning towards Ahman Green....any other feedback? Thanks to all who responded!
A lot depends on what you already have. A. Green can be a steady #2 with a decent game here and there I think, but he won't win you the league. If you've got LT and want a solid complement, he's your man. But, of all those guys listed, AP's upside is the highest and by a good margin I think. If you have 2 solid options already or can gamble with him and still get a later startable #3 later like Jordan or Foster, taking AP at this point is the best value and best upside.

 sheesh. :loco:

do people forget that line play and QB play have a huge impact on an RBs performance at the NFL level?

if a guy has a bad game, bad stretch of games or a bad season it doesn't mean he's a horrible player.

people were WAAAAAAAAY down on Thomas Jones after his stint in Arizona. he seems to have turned it around after not having any success in Phoenix.

Tampa bay was AWFUL last year.. could have had some impact. just maybe.

Agree very much. If you've got your studs already and are looking for a #3 with big upside, I think you go AD. If you went w/ 1 RB and got Gates/QB/WR, I'd say A.Green. The dude put up over 8/carry vs. the 'Boys D last nite and should get a decent amount of receptions. Dayne isn't a short yardage guy as we've seen for years now, and Domenick whateverhisnameis had good #s year after year before injury, before Kubiak and before the post-Carr era. I'm sold on Green gaining 1200 + 400 and 8-10 TDs. AD on the other hand is clearly the best RB in Minny, and will get the majority of the carries. Barring injury (which isn't any more likely than the others IMO) his floor may be 400 total yards less, but his ceiling could be 400 more and 8 TDs more. Do you invest for the safe "I'm going to retire in a year or two" or do you want to go w/ more volitility to earn bigger returns? Duce will be my last choice as you said this was PPR. He has the lowest ceiling for yards, the toughest competition (by far) for touches and is only a real hit and miss type player for his TDs. Caddy's offense just scares me. I think Garcia will lift them up quite a bit from last year, and Caddy should be the go-to guy w/o Alstott and is a big threat for 70 catches, but the O-line doesn't inspire much confidence. At least in Green's case, the line has always treated the RBs well.

I grabbed Deuce and A. Green.

I really like the Houston offense this year. They have some new faces that could really change things around (J. Jones, Green, Schaub). I think A. Green will be a steal this year.

good post, and I agree that you have to analyze your team makeup and decide if you need security or upside. Personally, I think you have to take AD here regardless, because he's a 1st round RB talent behind a monster OL in an offense that's going to run, run, run all year.

This is what I did. Took LJ and MJD with 1st/3rd picks in 12 teamer (Steve Smith in round 2), then came back the AD in round 4. If he busts out, I've got all sorts of options.
