Miles Austin vs. Revis in week 1 (1 Viewer)

Do you feel that Austin or Bryant will have a better game this weekend vs the Jets?

There's a report that Austin will draw coverage from Revis.

Any ideas? If I sit him, it would be for James Starks or possibly a flyer on Ben Tate if Foster sits.

I have both Bryant and Austin mind you.

I would assume that Revis is on Austin for the day. If that's the case.........you have to sit him.............especially if it's a PPR league. Austin might sneak in a 4-yard td, but he is not going to pile up receptions for the evening. On top of that...........the game is in NY..........10th anniversary of 9/11........extra motivation for the NY crowd.

I have Austin and Witten. I was thinking of sitting Austin for either Evans or Jimmy Graham (can start wr/te). I just don't like the Revis matchup and Dallas has so many weapons, why force it.

I agree with your premise that Austin will have a rough day but do you really think players want to win more because it is the anniversary of 9/11? This implies that they would be giving less than 100% otherwise but since it is 9/11 they will be more motivated to win and I don't buy it.

Ahhhh the joys of having football and fantasy football back. Now I get to go back and forth for the next 3 hours on whether I start Jimmy Graham, Evans or Austin.

i, too, am more concerned about his hammy and not being 100%. I just want him to be healthy going forward.

will likely bench him at flex for lottery tickets (albeit healthy lottery tickets)

still havent figured out how everyone thinks that Revis is going to cover Austin most of the game . . .

first of all, Football Outsiders 2011 lists stats for how often the CB1 (Revis for the Jets obviously) covers WR1 . . . it says the Jets had that matchup only 38% of the time in 2010 (22nd in the NFL) . . .

secondly, the Jets could go in to their gameplan thinking that Bryant is the WR1 . . .

Dez Bryant - WR - CowboysESPN New York's Rich Cimini notes that Jets CB Antonio Cromartie usually lines up against the "X" receiver, Dez Bryant's position.Coach Rex Ryan has not tipped his hand as to how Darrelle Revis will be used Sunday night. But most are expecting the shutdown corner to play the majority of the game against Miles Austin, leaving the physical Bryant to tangle with the bigger Cromartie. Consider Dez a better fantasy play than Austin this week.

Limited with a hamstring, potentially matching up vs. the top db in the league, plenty of other options on the Cowboys, I'm playing a hunch and starting Graham instead of him.

Did he practice friday? I see he is listed as probable. I have jacoby ford amd reggie bush on mnf to replace him with, so im not as hard pressed on the decision as others, but the hammy is concerning. Any news?

This what I have been hearing from Jets fans. As a Cowboys fan I like this match up as well as Witten on their LB's/safeties. Miles has a poor day. 3 for 39

I'm told #Jets D. Revis will be on Cowboys' Miles Austin; A. Cromartie on Dez Bryant. May adjust if need to #nyj

Then Revis will be on Miles 62% of the time. UGH, NO! Now what do I do?Seriously, I think the hammy is more of an issue than Revis.

According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, Darrelle Revis will cover Miles Austin in Sunday night's Jets-Cowboys game.

Mehta concedes the Jets will "adjust if need to." Austin (hamstring, probable) is nothing more than a WR3 with the shutdown corner Revis slated to shadow him. Start Austin if you must, but consider other options if you have the luxury of depth. Dez Bryant clearly has the better matchup, but Antonio Cromartie is no slouch, either. Tony Romo may have to lean heavily on Jason Witten.

Are we even certain Revis is assigned to Austin? Seems he and Dez are pretty similar in threat level. Any chance the Jets just play it straight up?

I just hope its not a situation where he plays and then pushes it too hard and it becomes an issue all season. I know he has been limited, but has he been able to go full speed at all or has he been as ginger as Arian Foster?

Yahoo! has this in for Bryant, "WR Dez Bryant said he respects Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis but he is ready to take on Revis Island and live to tell about it." ... so is it Austin or Bryant that Revis covers today?
