Minor Neighbor Issue--WWYD? (1 Viewer)

Chet can always go the passive aggressive style and just leave a note on his Truck stating that

"I know you don't realize where your parked, but my wife would appreciate her spot back when she returns"

I only read the first few posts but I don't see the problem saying something.  You know him, and I agree that I would want someone to tell me if I was making them feel a certain way.  I would be embarrassed, apologize, and find somewhere else to part.  "Jeez Chet...I'm sorry.  Thanks for saying something. I'll move it somewhere else."

I'm the same way. In fact, this guy is so nice, it's possible that he chose that spot because my wife is out of town. We will see when we get back in mid August.

About to take off for Geneva via London.

A la prochain!

What part of Chicago are you in?  I live in the west loop.  I'm happy to park my car within 3 blocks of my house as it's hard to find spots.  Is it different where you are at to the point it's easy for him to park in front of his place, or does in front of your house just happen to be where spots have been open for him?
I'm about a mile from wrigley. Theres usually at least one or two open spots at the busiest times.

i took the pic today and at least half the street was open.

Go out late tonight and toilet paper the truck.  You might actually have fun doing it.  Then, if he questions u, blame it on the hoodlums in the neighborhood.  You must have done something to piss them off at some time ... right?

Yeah but use real toilet paper and not chet toilet paper aka 100 dollar bills.

We live in the city on a small street with lots of families and children.  A new neighbor moved in directly across from us about a year ago.  He's a nice guy--I'd met him before and we have a couple of mutual friends.  He's very social and is a good addition to the block.

He has a 4x4 with raised suspension and oversized wheels that he rarely drives.  He's gotten into the habit of parking it directly in front of our house and because he doesn't drive it regularly, it just sits there. He drove it over the weekend, and when he got back, he parked right in front of our house again.  Parking on the street is usually not a problem.  Other than it being a bit of an eyesore, this hasn't been an issue for me yet but it will when my wife gets back to town and isn't able to park in front of our house.

Would you say anything or leave it alone?  Like I said, he's a nice guy and I'd never say anything offensive.

Here's a pic of the truck taken from my front door.
Best him to the punch, park a car there before he gets his truck there

Anyway, I am heading out of town for a couple of weeks and if it's still there when I return, I will update accordingly.

Ah, the classic "I get two weeks vacation in Europe" post wrapped around "How do I deal with a truck in front of my multi-million dollar brownstone" thread.

I'm new here, but this is spectular. Well done Mr. Chet.

Think for a bit.  What sort of bumper sticker, if applied to the vehicle, would enrage or incite others to the point of stealing or vandalizing the vehicle.  Perhaps an insult of the Van Buren Boys.  Stick it on the vehicle and let nature take its course.

A mile from Wrigley in almost any direction I can see it being hard to find a spot for a big car like that.  In the city, I feel like you just take whatever spot is open that is closest to your house.  There are no assigned spots, and if the spot isn't open in front of your house then take the closest one that is.

If you were in the suburbs though, I could see your point a little better as you can almost always park in front of your own house.

I do agree that the truck is an eyesore.  Id just let it go though.  He isn't doing anything wrong, and I think it's more likely you upset/annoy him than him see it your way being its in the city.

If your wife is out of town do you need the spot? Does she have her car with her?

If it hasn't been a problem in the year he's lived there just let it play out. Once he sees your wife parking in front of his house he'll probably take the next opportunity to switch his spot.

Or the next time he moves the truck slide the Ferrari in there. Much prettier to look at that through your front window than glancing at it in the garage as you take the daily driver.

Ask him to park on his side of the road so that you can use the space in front of your house.

Short of that, most cities have ordinances requiring parked vehicles to be facing the flow of traffic. Call the cops.

man chet i thought you were rich as hell and now i see a domestic truck on your block how droll bromigo take that to the newvo rich bank brochacho

If it bugs you, mention it to him. Maybe he will be cool about it. Nothing will happen if you don't so wtf.....why not?

Luckily with Google's GPS I was able to get a better picture of the neighborhood and street. The OP is the front view of the street but I was able to get a better shot of Chet's place from the back of the house, let's have a look...

Chet's Place
