Thankfully CNN is on the case.

Piece of wreckage found drifting ashore on Reunion
that's why they should build the black box out of fish skinI think the black box beacon is only good for 30 days, and if in salt water this whole time, the box itself is probably toast by now.How well does this help them to be able to find the rest of the plane? It's been over a year. I assume there is a zero percent chance they can model which direction the waves pushed it from. If it does help them, does the black box still work?
IMO looks like the wing of the replacement planethanks for the link.http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/malaysia/11771229/MH370-wreckage-found-on-Reunion-matches-Malaysia-Airlines-flight.html

dunno why I was holding on to the goofy conspiracy theories... I guess just hoping it didn't mean all those people actually died.
I thought that 30 days was only the ping to help locate it. Air France 447 wasn't found for two years and I thought they knew exactly what happened to that plane after the black boxes were found.I think the black box beacon is only good for 30 days, and if in salt water this whole time, the box itself is probably toast by now.How well does this help them to be able to find the rest of the plane? Yeah. The 30 days was the battery life on the ping.I thought that 30 days was only the ping to help locate it. you got something else??? what happened now!1?!?BREAKING NEWS!!!!
That far or that small of a distance...How did a piece like that make it that far?
Probably time to fire up that flight simulator again. Will be interesting to watch CNN cover this wing piece for the next 72 hours straight
Heard on the radio that there haven't been any other ones that could've produced this piece. The 777 isn't a super old aircraft. I think maybe 15-20 years old (which is new in passenger aircraft terms). How many 777 have crashed over the ocean? How many were painted white?

Anything is possible, but I feel like there's a pretty good chance that IF this is indeed off of a 777, it'll be from MH370.
Planes are stamped with multiple serial numbers for exactly this purpose -- to allow parts to be identified and matched to a specific model and aircraft.
"If the part numbers that are stamped on the pieces of the plane still survive, it literally could be a phone call to Boeing or the parts indices to see if it belongs to a 777. And if it belongs to a 777, it is MH370," said Mary Schiavo, CNN aviation analyst and former inspector general of the United States Department of Transportation.
Schiavo points out that there have been only five accidents involving Boeing 777s, and the disappearance of MH370 is the only one where debris hasn't been recovered.
If the identifying numbers are missing, more tests will need to be conducted on the part to determine its origin. In that case, it's likely that the wing portion will need to be transported elsewhere, potentially Paris, because it was found within French territory.

Read any article yesterday that said there have been 5 777's that went down since they were introduced, 4 of which were at well established crash sites. This is from MH370 imo as well.Heard on the radio that there haven't been any other ones that could've produced this piece. The 777 isn't a super old aircraft. I don't think it changes much other than just confirming that it went down in the ocean, roughly in the area where they had thought. Doesn't do much for motive. I'd say the only other thing it could tell is more about how it crashed. I'm not sure if they're able to determine if the wing section broke apart in flight vs. on impact with water or not...if they were, that could help them figure out the airspeed of the plane and the angle of impact. Again, not sure that 100% confirms the reason for the crash, but it's another piece.Does this change anything? My assumption is the currents carried this stuff for the last year and a half. Outside of conspiracy theorists, we can assume either A) a lunatic pilot did this intentionally or B) There was a serious malfunction... I think A is extremely more likely.
Regardless, most logical conclusions are this plane crashed in the Indian Ocean and all passengers died when it disappeared.
At the end of the day, this just rehashes a story, but provides little evidence as to what caused this.
dammit. the truth can hurt sometimes.Well, since it so suddenly re-appeared, it could be a double-micro-blackhole. A micro-wormhole. A wormhole is like a tube in space and time with a black hole at each end. So maybe it went into one black hole and just recently came out the other side of another??I guess we can rule out Al Quaeda Air and the Micro-Black Hole theory though.
But then how did it crash? Because it went in to the hole whole...Clearly if only a part of it came out, it must've hit something en route in the hole. Maybe it hit a Tie Fighter...or a Romulan Battle Cruiser in there...Well, since it so suddenly re-appeared, it could be a double-micro-blackhole. A micro-wormhole. got ripped apart in the hole, IMO, on account of the gravitational flux. But then how did it crash? This is the type of outside-the-box thinking we need to be doing here. But then how did it crash? Even more amazing if one of them was a Romulan.would be pretty amazing if live people began washing up along with the debris.
you mean diff'rent strokes? This reminds me of the TV show Different Strokes.
No. Why would a show about a old white dude adopting two black kids remind me of a plane crash in the Indian Ocean?you mean diff'rent strokes? This reminds me of the TV show Different Strokes.

Yeah they said today it's about where they have been searching for a year.Shouldn't some smart ocean current scientist type figure out roughly where the plan crashed now?
So it was aliens. I'm on a plane right now.Yeah they said today it's about where they have been searching for a year.Shouldn't some smart ocean current scientist type figure out roughly where the plan crashed now?![]()
Nailed it. Plane went in like a hot knife thru butter.Bottom of the ocean theory. Not wavering from my theory that it is at the bottom of the ocean.
To those that think it landed, what is required for refueling? Gotta have a refueling truck. You also gotta be able to purchase jet fuel, somehow get it delivered. Forget the island bull####. It has to be a runway. Got to have a lit runway long enough for the plane. All has to be coordinated ahead of time. The US listens for suspected terrorist conversations. So does mossad. If this really happened and bin laden was still alive, he would be jacking in ecstasy of such a plot. All 600 landable runways are being checked. It would have to refuel, take off again and avoid radar.![]()

Oof. Seriously? You'd think that if current patterns were known, and they had an estimated search area, they'd have been able to predict where and when stuff might start washing up and at least let someone know.Supposedly so much trash washes up on reunion island that they may have accidentally been burning seats and suitcases for months before this wing part was found.

Bump.
So they're finding pieces of this thing finally.

Did they just do an Onslaught in the middle of that article?Object that washed ashore on Reunion island not debris from missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, official says

A false alarm.
An object that washed ashore on the Indian Ocean's Reunion island just days after a wing component of a Boeing 777 was found is not debris of missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, an official says.
The aircraft door was found just a short distance from where wreckage believed to be from flight MH370 was originally discovered.
Authorities said an object was found early Sunday morning.
"I'm the one leading the investigation in France for the analysis of the (wing flap) piece brought back," Malaysian Director General of Civil Aviation Azharuddin Abdul Rahman said. "I read all over media it (the new debris) was part of a door. But I checked with the Civil Aviation Authority, and people on the ground in Reunion, and it was just a domestic ladder."member of Cambuston Church on Reunion island lights one of 239 candles, representing the number of people aboard Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, during a vigil on Saturday.
Malaysia Airlines flight number MH370, a Boeing 777, was carrying 239 people when it originally went missing back in March 2014.
